2025 Chevy Corvette Vs. 2025 Ford Mustang, Which Wins Out?
The all-new 2025 Chevy Corvette has been turning heads. The supercar boasts impressive performance and offers an engaging driving experience. Although the top-of-the-line ZR1 trim starts at an MSRP of $180,000 (plus destination fee), the base 2025 Corvette starts at an MSRP of $68,300 (plus destination fee). While it may lack some extra features, it still manages to create that rush of excitement only a supercar can bring. Nearing supercar territory is the Ford Mustang. The classic muscle car has long competed with supercars thanks to its performance and capability. Having received a new update, the Mustang continues to speed along in its 7th generation offering that same iconic look that never gets old. With two different but similar sports cars head to head, we figured we’d see which wins out, the 2025 Chevy Corvette or the 2025 Ford Mustang.
Corvette Vs. Mustang
One of the biggest differences between the 2025 Chevy Corvette and the 2025 Ford Mustang is their design. The Corvette is known for its supercar aesthetic and the latest version leans even heavier into it. With its mid-engine layout, the Corvette appears ready to take off at any given moment. The wide appearance and short overhang are complemented by air intakes situated up front and along the sides. The Ford Mustang on the other hand keeps its iconic muscle car aesthetic. The top-of-the-line trim Dark Horse adds character with a distinct grille, diffuser, and rear wing. It also features distinct side skirts and exhaust tips. Both the Corvette and Mustang offer different aesthetics so it’s to the consumer’s preference which one suits their taste.
Moving toward performance is where we see a stark contrast. The 2025 Corvette features a 6.2L V8 engine that delivers 490 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. Upgrading to the top trim, the ZR1 sees 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque with its all-new twin-turbo 5.5L V8 engine. Of course, this level of performance comes at a steep price however it may be well worth it for the unrivaled power. The 2025 Mustang features a turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder EcoBoost engine that delivers 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. The Dark Horse trim ups the ante with its 5.0L V8 engine delivering 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque. The Dark Horse Mustang also comes at a steep price (starting at an MSRP of $61,980 (plus destination fee) however it nears the price of the base Corvette. An important distinction is that the Corvette only offers a dual-clutch 8-speed automatic transmission while the Mustang offers either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic transmission. Despite this, the Corvette has a 0 to 60 mph time of 2.8 seconds while the Mustang has a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.7 seconds.
Inside the 2025 Corvette owners will find a cozy cabin designed with the driver in mind. An angled divider creates some space between the passenger and driver seat however it provides the driver with complete control. A 12-inch digital gauge display serves as the link between driver and supercar allowing them to access the infotainment system as well as a head-up display. Other driver-assist features include a performance data recorder and several drive modes. The 2025 Mustang retains its classic cabin sporting a 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster and 13.2-inch infotainment system. While the Mustang lacks a heads-up display, it does offer a performance tracker and a configurable instrument cluster.Â
Verdict
Despite a close race, the 2025 Chevy Corvette manages to take the lead with its dynamic performance and advanced technology. While both sports cars offer impressive performance, the base Corvette starts at an MSRP of $68,300 (plus destination fee) while the base Mustang starts at an MSRP of $31,920 (plus destination fee). The price difference may lend the Mustang some points however to match the Corvette’s power, it would require the top-tier Dark Horse trim which starts at an MSRP of $61,980 (plus destination fee). At that point, the Corvette makes more sense given its base features. Add-ons further improve the supercar making it well worth the cost. At the end of the day, as with most things, it comes down to preference as both the Corvette and Mustang have their own appeal. On paper, however, it’s clear the 2025 Chevy Corvette takes the gold.Â
