Spending Thanksgiving with Ram Vehicles

On November 23, 2023, Thanksgiving came and went for those of us who live in the United States. While we celebrated the day by carving up a turkey or loading up on stuffing, the popular holiday also enticed us to take a moment and reflect on what we are thankful for. One trademark of the festive day was the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
During its 97th running, the parade was viewed in person by some 3.5 million spectators and televised to an estimated 50 million. In 2023, there were 26 floats, plus 16 massive balloon characters, traveling a 2.5-mile-long route in Manhattan that ended at Macy’s in Herald Square. Between the cheerleaders, balloon handlers, marching bands, clowns, dancers, and celebrity performers, approximately 6,500 people participated in the 2023 parade.
Ram’s Part in the Parade
The Ram Truck brand was the “Official Truck of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade” for the ninth consecutive year. Steering the heart of this beloved holiday tradition, over 20 robust Ram pickup trucks towed all the lively floats, weaving joy through the bustling streets of New York and resonating across millions of screens nationwide. Collaborating closely with Macy’s and the City of New York, the automaker embraced this one-of-a-kind holiday spectacle, infusing it with the spirited essence that defines the season.
Adorned in festive garb, three Ram trucks boasted full wraps that immaculately complemented the whimsical designs of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the enchanting world of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and, most notably, a specially decorated truck towed the parade’s luminary figure, Santa Claus.
Tim Kuniskis, Ram brand CEO at Stellantis, expressed gratitude for the manufacturer’s crucial role, declaring, “It is a privilege for the Ram Truck brand to be the official truck of one of America’s most celebrated occasions.” He added, “Our Ram trucks are built to serve all our customers everywhere, and we are honored to be just a small part of the magic that happens during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade as our full portfolio of award-winning trucks pulls these floats down the streets of Manhattan.”
Behind the Scenes
Beyond the limelight, Ram trucks played a central backstage role, ferrying a series of parade essentials–from costumes to tool containers and beyond–crucial for the seamless execution of this annual extravaganza. The brand’s contribution extended beyond mere transportation. In other words, Ram provided Macy’s parade with over 70 trucks and Ram ProMaster commercial vans, several integral to the behind-the-scenes functions preceding the parade’s commencement.
To that end, anticipation crescendoed, and the 97th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade riveted audiences nationwide. It was broadcast on NBC-TV from 8:30 a.m. to noon in all time zones. As such, the parade delivered an awe-inspiring spectacle.
