2024 Ram Rampage Garners International Distinction

The Ram brand received another trophy for its ample collection of awards and celebrated its sales victory in Brazil. The compact Ram Rampage pickup truck, with its 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 Turbo Gasoline engine, was selected as the “Best Medium Gasoline Pickup” in the second edition of the Clean Mobility Awards. Organized by Agência Autoinforme, the trophy presentation ceremony occurred on July 18, 2024, at the Transamérica Expo Center, with the presence of Carla Freire, Director of Ram brand development in Brazil.

What Do the Clean Mobility Awards Represent?

The Clean Mobility Awards aim to support automakers and importers in providing more efficient vehicles and lead customers toward cleaner models. To that end, experts utilize public data from the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program, administered by Inmetro, to determine quality standards. 

For example, the 2024 data set considered 35 brands and 975 models/iterations across a plethora of categories, such as plug-in hybrid (PHEV), gasoline, electric, diesel hybrid, flex, and hybrid automobiles. The manufacturer also recently announced the debut of the Inside Rampage series, promoting the Rampage compact pickup’s versatility.

Beneath the Hood of the Ram Rampage

A crucial aspect of the Rampage’s latest triumph is its turbocharged 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 inline-four-cylinder gasoline engine. This power plant, spanning across all Rampage variants and presented as the sole option for the R/T trim, accelerates up to 272 horsepower and generates 295 pound-feet of torque. Assembled with an aluminum block and heads and outfitted with double variable valve control and direct injection, it is evident the Hurricane 4 engine is designed for elevated effectiveness and capability.

The powertrain is classified as part of the Stellantis Global Medium Engine (GME) system. As such, the Hurricane 4 engine integrates enhanced characteristics such as the following:

• An electronic relief valve
• A refrigerated exhaust gas recirculation system
• A low-inertia twin-scroll turbocharger

These technological features are partly responsible for the Rampage’s stunning efficiency among regional pickup trucks.

Momentous Accomplishments

The R/T trim of the Rampage represents its most athletic iteration, with the pickup revving from zero to 60 miles per hour in merely 6.9 seconds and topping off at a maximum speed of 137 miles per hour. That said, the other variants of the Rampage also exhibit formidable power outputs, accelerating from zero to 60 miles per hour in 7.1 seconds and showcasing a top speed of 130 miles per hour.
