Like the previous generation, the forthcoming one can be had with either a gasoline-powered 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine, known as the Big Gas Engine, or a Cummins 6.7-liter turbo-diesel inline-six. The former accelerates up to 410 horsepower while generating 429 pound-feet of torque. The engine also comes equipped with variable-valve timing (VVT) with Fuel Saver Technology cylinder deactivation, guaranteeing an ideal balance of efficiency and performance. 

Meanwhile, for enthusiasts who favor diesel output, there are two impressive options to select from. The Standard-Output Turbo Diesel delivers 370 horsepower and an outstanding 850 pound-feet of torque. It is worth mentioning that a more robust variant of this engine is also available, and it is exclusive to the Ram 3500 model. It is dubbed the High-Output Turbo Diesel for its exceptional power of 420 ponies and staggering 1,075 pound-feet of torque. It distinctly excels in power, and, as before, the new truck lineup has a few direct competitors, including the GMC Sierra HD, the Ford Super Duty, and the HD iterations of the Chevrolet Silverado.

2024 Ram Heavy-Duty Redesign

Compared to the outgoing model, the 2024 Ram Heavy Duty lineup has a more assertive appearance. It features a colossal grille, sharp edges, and a traditionally boxy aesthetic. Moreover, the 2024 Ram Heavy Duty series offers a vast assortment of trim levels to indulge an equally wide array of customers. That said, there are seven trim levels in total. The Limited trim is the most recognized thanks to its own unique grille, while the Limited Longhorn provides novel two-tone paint options. 

In short, whether buyers choose the base-level Tradesman for its practicality or the upper-tier Laramie for its luxury, the Ram Heavy Duty series eclipses the competition by meeting an expansive range of needs and preferences. In fact, the off-road Power Wagon should be available as well, and a more rugged appearance similar to that of the Ram 1500 Rebel is expected. Overall, plenty of variety allows consumers to choose the trim that best fits their own style.

Cab Configurations and Interior Comfort

The 2024 Ram Heavy Duty lineup comes outfitted with four cab configurations to suit a multitude of personal customizations. Of note, both Ram Heavy Duty trucks are highly modern, boasting functional and spacious cabins. Of course, depending on cab options, the degree of comfort will vary. For instance, the Regular Cab has an eight-foot bed but is not available with backseats, while the Crew Cab offers an ample back seat, and the Mega Cab has 43 inches of rear legroom. For those seeking the utmost refinement, the Limited is the top-tier trim, equipped with a 12-inch infotainment system, blind-spot monitoring, aluminum interior trim, adaptive cruise control, and a 360-degree camera.
