U.S. News & World Report Recognizes 2024 Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid As One of the Best
Spring is in full swing with the showers and flowers, and soon, it’ll be the summer. 2024 is sure flying by, but that just means a lot of good news is about to make headlines in the auto industry. Specifically, all the organizations and journalists out there will be putting together their next “Best of” list, or conclude a study or competition to find the best [insert car segment here] of 2024. Not too long ago, U.S. News & World Report shined a little light on Kia, recognizing the Kia Telluride as the best 3-row SUV. Now, the U.S. News & World Report goes on to evaluate the plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) of 2024, and we’re happy to see Kia lands on this list as well for the 2024 Kia Sportage Plug-In Hybrid.
“Kia Sportage Plug-In Hybrid’s recognition as U.S. News & World Report’s ‘Best Plug-In Hybrid SUV’ reflects Kia’s pursuit of excellence in the areas of innovation, technology, and efficiency…Kia is honored to be named among the 2024 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars.” – Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America
When it comes to finalizing the winners for the 2024 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars award categories, U.S. puts together a list of 96 vehicles that can fit into one of the following categories: luxury and affordable hybrid, plug-in hybrid, electric cars, SUVs, and trucks. After evaluating each vehicle, additional information is collected about the gas mileage and range data from the EPA, as well as pricing. U.S. News also takes the general consensus opinion of the automotive press into consideration for the winners. Lastly, vehicles that make the list have the best combination of quality, efficiency, and value in their segment.
U.S. News & World Report was especially interested in the powertrain for the 2024 Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid, powered by a 1.6-liter Turbocharged engine and an 88 kW lithium-ion polymer battery. Able to collectively generate 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, it’s not incredibly strong, but the Sportage Plug-in offers a lot for such an affordable price, starting at $39,590 (plus destination fee). For consumers who just want to focus on going green but unsure about how often they can recharge, the 2024 Kia Sportage PHEV has an all-electric range (AER) of 34 miles, and a combined fuel economy of 84 MPGe.
Kia gave the Sportage Plug-in Hybrid a slight update to the exterior and interior for 2024, making many more features standard. These include heated rear glass, heated exterior mirrors with LED turn signals, sound-absorbing windshield glass, privacy glass, high-utility roof rails, a smart power liftgate, automatic headlights, LED projector lights, LED tail lights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and high beam assist. Inside, consumers get a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support adjustment, heated front seats, a 60/40 split-folding & reclining second row, dual-level cargo floor, a panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade, and dual-zone auto climate control with auto de-fog. It’s a pretty great setup for just the base trim alone, the X-Line. Both trims, the X-Line and X-Line Prestige, come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with Kia Connect and navigation and a 12-inch instrument display for a total of 24 inches of digital screens.
The 2024 Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid is a winner in more ways than one. Called one of the best PHEVs of 2024 is just another feather in the cap. Want to get behind the wheel of this PHEV? Find the new 2024 Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid at Miami Lakes Automall today.
