Six Kia Models Earn a Title During 2024 Newsweek Auto Awards

The autumn season is just around the corner, and before leaves start to turn color and we get a little cool breeze, automotive journalists are still shaking off the sweat and getting to work. Whether hosting a competition to test the capabilities of a vehicle or putting together a list of the best vehicles in a category, it’s always helpful to find a source that consumers can trust. One such source is Newsweek, having recently concluded the 2024 Newsweek Auto Awards. Consisting of the entire consumer market for vehicles available today, the Newsweek Auto Awards picks the best vehicles on the market for 13 various consumer profiles.
There are a lot of vehicles currently available, and the mass variety attracts many different kinds of people. When reviewing these vehicles, Newsweek evaluated and rated each to find whether it could fulfill one of their consumer profiles – 13 in total – that have been tailored to meet the needs of different consumers. To give consumers a clear picture of the market, Newsweek covers a ride range of vehicle segments for the Auto Awards, including: car, truck, SUV, van, and wagon. This year, the Kia America auto brand stood out amongst the competition.
“We are thrilled and honored to be recognized with six awards in the 2024 Newsweek Autos Awards…This achievement is a testament to our relentless commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. The Kia Sportage being named best vehicle for commuters underscores our dedication to providing exceptional driving experiences that meet the diverse needs of our customers. We will continue to strive for excellence and deliver vehicles that set new standards in the industry.” – Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America
2024 is the fourth year for the Newsweek Autos Awards. It may still be young, but it also started up at the perfect time for Kia. Will all the new electrified concepts and new models coming out these, Kia has been in the spotlight many times for many different vehicles. During this year’s Newsweek Auto Awards, a total of six Kia models won a title, and each is more different than the last. Continuing to lead the battery-electric vehicle (BEV) lineup is the one and only Kia EV9, named the “Top Pick for Tomorrow Seekers”.
Named the “Best Vehicle for Commuters” are the Kia Sportage SUV and Kia Niro, able to offer a fuel economy of 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway for the Sportage, and a fuel economy of 53 mpg in the city and 54 mpg on the highway for the Niro. A “Top Pick for Empty Nesters” title was earned by the Kia Carnival and the Kia Sorento. What is an empty nest? Many parents can feel like their home is an empty nest once kids go off to college, being so used to having them around. But now, they have more time to do things just for themselves, like pick up a hobby or get involved in more outdoor activities, and the amply cargo space of the Kia Sorento is perfect for that. Also taking home a title is Kia Seltos as a “Top Pick for First-Time Car Buyers” – it sure turned a few heads when the Seltos first launched.
