Kia UK Releases “Shadow” Model for Kia Sportage

The Kia Corp may be priming the U.S. for the growing list of Kia battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), including the new Kia EV3 that’s causing quite a stir amongst automotive publicists. Everyone wants to compare the Kia EV3 and the Tesla Model Y. Even as the automaker continues to release new BEV concepts, its gasoline lineup still gets perks now and then. Whether it’s getting an electric variant like the Kia Sorento plug-in hybrid, or a new appearance package, the rest of the Kia lineup still gets special benefits now and then. Just announced in June 2024, two overseas models and a nameplate we know well in the States, recently revealed the new special edition Kia Sportage “Shadow” model.
Unveiled for the new Kia Picanto, the popular Stonic, and Sportage line-ups, Kia UK is bringing a new kind of style to these models. Already on sales overseas, the “Shadow” adds a new kind of style to each model, while still highlighting the collection of standard equipment and features each model comes with. This includes exclusive interior colors and premium paint to contrast the interior with the new look and give consumers a little personalization for their cabin.
When it comes to the Kia Sportage “Shadow”, this is the main model we have our eye on. Sure, the Kia Picanto and Kia Stonic are also popular – Picanto just celebrated its 20th anniversary in the UK this year, and currently holds a share of more than 22 percent of the A-segment car category so far this year (2024). The Stonic is another great vehicle, this time found in the B-segment SUV category. Because these are overseas, we won’t be seeing a Picanto Shadow or Stonic Shadow any time soon. The Kia Sportage, however, is a best-seller that is not exclusive to the UK. Kia’s most popular vehicle throughout Europe and on a global scale, the Sportage SUV has many fans.
The Kia Sportage “Shadow” takes the ever-popular Sportage hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and adds a new style to keep hybrid vehicles fresh. Based on the existing “3” hybrid base model in the UK, the “Shadow” package adds a new Midnight Green interior pack; gloss black window and spoiler trim; dark chrome finish to front, rear, side, and skid plate; three premium paint options: Experience Green, Phantom Black, and Wolf Grey. The latter is new and exclusive to the “Shadow” models. There Is no definite yes or no that we’ll get the Kia Sportage Shadow, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other Sportage models to enjoy.
Because of its popularity, as noted, the Sportage has spawned an HEV model, the 2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid. Powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine full parallel hybrid system, the Kia Sportage HEV has an output of able to generate 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. As is the pattern in the Kia lineup, an electrified model usually doesn’t just mean an HEV. Kia also released the 2024 Kia Sportage PHEV, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. The Sportage plug-in hybrid is powered by a 1.6-liter Turbocharged engine and an 88 kW lithium-ion polymer battery and has an output of 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. A bigger battery means the ability to travel on electric power alone. The Kia Sportage PHEV has a total all-electric range (AER) of 34 miles.
