Kia Seltos Refreshed for 2024 Model Year
The Kia Corp is changing its name and what it stands for. A new design philosophy changes the way the automaker approaches its vehicle lineup, matching nature and machinery for a greater product result. Models like the Kia Seltos are a great example. When the Seltos landed in America, it really changed the game, catching the attention of consumers everywhere. Already entering the 2024 model year, the Seltos has been refreshed and comes with more power and new tech to impress any consumer. Its X-Line trim even offers something for those that want a rugged vehicle to take off-road. The 2024 model gets its announcement with a new ad-spot “Drop Off”.
“The unexpected journey the father and daughter take in their Kia Seltos is a reflection of the unexpected journeys life has in store for us all,” said Russell Wager, vice president, marketing, Kia America. “With more power, technology and good looks than ever before, the 2024 Kia Seltos is the perfect complement to any adventure from commuting to work, weekend getaways or heading off to college.”
Now isn’t that sweet? The ad-spot ends on a note that the new 2024 Kia Seltos SX (the top tier trim of the lineup) offers more horsepower and all-wheel drive. The same can be said for the new X-Line trim. In fact, the standard engine for the LX, S, and EX trims is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, optimized with dual continuously variable valve timing (CVVT) and multi-port gasoline injection (MPI) , offering 146 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. The X-Line and SX are powered by a 195 HP turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine, optimized with CVVT and gasoline direct injection (GDI), able to generate an equal 195 lb-ft of torque. However, only the S and EX come with front-wheel drive (FWD). The rest of the lineup comes with Dynamax all-wheel drive (AWD) with center lock (available on the S and EX).
With the 2.0-liter engine and FWD, consumers can expect a fuel economy of 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. With AWD and the 2.0-liter engine, the fuel economy is 27 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. If setup with AWD and the turbocharged engine, the fuel economy is 27/31 mpg city/highway.
The exterior has been upgraded with front and rear skid plates, an available two-tone roof, heated mirrors with LED turn signals (past the base LX trim) automatic headlamps, sound-absorbing windshield glass, solar control glass on the EX and SX trims, rear privacy glass across the lineup, and the option of a sunroof (also on the EX and SX trims). Inside, automatic climate control keeps the driver and passengers comfortable (past the base LX trim), plus rear a/c vents. Upon entry, the driver is greeted by a 4.2-inch instrument display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with Navigation and Kia Connect (8-inch and no NAV or Kia Connect on base LX trim), a six-speaker audio system (Bose premium audio 8-speaker sound system with mood lamp on the SX), and steering wheel-mounted audio and phone controls. Take that mood lamp and make the whole interior shine with LED interior lighting (past the base LX trim).
