Kia Releases Pricing Details for 2025 Kia Niro and Niro PHEV
The Kia Corp recently released the pricing for the 2025 Kia Niro hybrid crossover and the Kia Niro PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle). For 2025, the Kia Niro hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) maintains five trims, with a slight increase of $50 to the starting MSRP of $26,990 (plus destination fee). An additional $100 was added to the MSRP of the Kia Niro PHEV, starting at $34,490 (plus destination fee). Minimal changes were also made this year.
Powertrain
The powertrain between the two models is of course different, where the Niro is just a hybrid, and therefore comes with a smaller battery. Powered by a Full Parallel Hybrid System consisting of a 1.6-liter DOHC gasoline engine and an electric motor powered by a 240V lithium-ion battery, the Kia Niro is capable of generating 139 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. Equipped with a larger battery, the Niro PHEV is powered by a 1.6-liter engine and an 83kW electric motor, capable of generating 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The Niro HEV can’t recharge the battery at a charging station, but the PHEV can, able to recharge its 11.1-kWh lithium-ion polymer battery in 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Styling
The Kia Niro is expected to still come standard with automatic headlights, heated exterior mirrors with LED turn signals, projector beam headlights, LED tail lights, LED daytime running lights, and high beam assist. With only two trims for the Niro PHEV, the plug-in hybrid also comes with additional features. Not only does it come with many of the same standard features, but the plug-in hybrid adds auto rain-sensing windshield wipers and rear window washer/wiper, roof rails, solar control glass, sound-absorbing windshield glass, a heated windshield, rear privacy glass, and high beam assist. Both trims add a smart power tailgate on the SX Touring trim. The Niro SX also gets a smart power tailgate. The Niro PHEV adds LED fog lights, sound-absorbing front door window glass and a power sunroof on the SX Touring trim.
Similar differences continue with the interior. The Kia Niro comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, solar control glass, sound-absorbing windshield glass, a heated windshield and rear defrost, and rear privacy glass, and saves heated front seats and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar support adjustment for trims past the base LX trim. The Niro PHEV comes with the 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support adjustment, a 6-way manually-adjustable front passenger’s seat standard, plus heated front seats, and a SynTex-wrapped steering wheel on top of the dual-zone automatic climate control and 60/40 split-folding rear seats. The Niro does offer a little more, however, with ventilated front seats, a driver’s seat memory system, a heated steering wheel, and sound-absorbing front door window glass on the SX and SX Touring trims, and a power sunroof past the EX trims. Both models have a SynTex and cloth combination for the upholstery in the EX trims, followed by perforated SynTex on the SX trims. The PHEV SX Touring also comes with the Cold Weather package, adding heated rear seats and a Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heater to help preserve all-electric range.
Tech
Tech is mostly the same, except the Niro comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen. Past the base LX, and standard for the Niro PHEV is a 10.25-inch touchscreen display is the standard with Kia Connect, capable of Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth wireless technology, voice recognition, and pre-cooling & heating through the Kia Access App. The Niro also adds voice recognition, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Kia Connect, and a wireless phone charger past the base trim. Both models come with blind-spot collision warning with parallel exit, forward collision-avoidance assist with car & pedestrian detection, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, intelligent speed limit assist, a driver attention warning system with leading vehicle departure alert, a rear occupant alert system, and safe exit warning standard. The Niro adds navigation-based smart cruise control with stop & go plus curve past the base LX trim, but comes standard for the Niro PHEV.
