Woo, the 2024 New York International Show (NYIAS) starts this week on March 29, 2024, and we’ve got a lot to look forward to. The once-rumored Kia K4 model has been confirmed, and Kia teased K4 images to celebrate its addition to the lineup. Showing up at the NYIAS all but states that this model will be coming to America for the 2024 or 2025 model year. While we wait on all the specs, the Kia Corp dropped a PR on the exterior and interior design for the new Kia K4.

Exterior

The evolution of the iconic tiger nose for the front fascia and grille of most Kia models is becoming more akin to a “tiger face”, with striking fangs in a design. We’ve seen this new design on a lot of battery-electric vehicle (BEV) models and newer models – vertical headlamps positioned at the extreme edges of the front fascia, emphasizing the iconic tiger nose and enhancing the front with a wide and ultra-confident stance. In the rear, vertical lamps return, also positioned at the extreme ends of the vehicle to keep up that wide stance. Also popping up in new models and BEVs is Kia’s star map lighting technology to give more attitude to the K4.

“Every contour, curve and detail of the K4 has been carefully considered and crafted to adhere to Kia’s design philosophy, Opposites United, bringing together clean faceted surfacing and technological details in a bold, cohesive statement. Every aspect further strengthens the relationship between brand and design,” – Karim Habib, Executive Vice President, and head of Kia Global Design

Interior

Here’s where things get a little different. Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy may be taking the separation part of that a little too literally. According to the PR, the “…interior separates the driver from passenger with a bold graphic split.” That sounds pretty drastic. The Kia K4 is designed to create a clear distinction between the two spaces – the driver’s cockpit and the passenger cabin. The driver-oriented cockpit is technical, and passengers should be able to enjoy being a passenger in a cabin that is more “human”.

A popular addition to Kia models has been the ambient LED interior lighting feature that offers a multitude of colors and options. Able to choose from a range of direct and indirect lighting options, consumers can illuminate their Kia K4 cabin how they see fit. The driver’s side of the car has a tight center console and large central touchscreen. Despite that, many buttons remain physical, giving exact control over the heating, air-con and ventilation system. No information about whether it only has a dual-zone climate control system or if four-zone is available.

Kia has also gone eco-friendly with sustainable materials used to build the Kia EV9 and the E3 and EV4 concepts. Color options for the exterior have not yet been released, but the interior definitely has several colors available – Medium Gray, Slate Green, Canyon Brown, and Onyx Black. We’re interested to see what kind of tech will be available.

The global premiere of the Kia K4 will drop when the New York International Auto Show opens to the press this week. Follow along with us on Miami Lakes Automall social media to learn more about new Kia models.
