The Kia EV9 has been an award-winning model since it came to the States. Claiming accolades throughout the year, some of the latest come from the Edmunds Top Rated Best of the Best lists, highlighting the Kia EV9. The second all-electric vehicle with no gasoline predecessor to come from Kia, the EV9 is starting a whole new trend, such as Kia models produced from sustainable materials, and the EV9 is the first model to introduce Kia Connect. Most recently, the EV9 won another award in its first year of introduction, named the winner of the SUV category at the prestigious 2024 Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) Awards.

Seemingly based off on the Kia Telluride, it’s no wonder that the EV9 is just as popular as the largest SUV in the Kia lineup. Consumers today really do seem to be following the “bigger is better” mindset, and the auto market is ready to provide, saturated with hatchbacks, crossovers, and SUVs. As for winning the SUV category during the 2024 WWCOTY awards, the winner was decided by a jury of 75 female motoring journalists from 52 countries across five continents to ensure a good diversity of drivers and opinions. A total of 62 competing models were evaluated via driving tests, detailed analysis, and other studies to find the winner of each of the five categories: SUV, Family Car, Large Car, Exclusive Car, and 4×4, Pick-Up.

Standing out was the Kia EV9, hitting all the right notes, such as safety, driving experience, technology, comfort, efficiency, environmental impact, and value for money. Starting at $54,900 (plus destination fee), it’s a solid place to start for an investment in an all-electric SUV. A few years ago, consumers could get a large federal tax credit when purchasing a new Kia model, but the recent Inflation Reduction Act has nulled that if the models or even its components come from foreign countries. So, Kia basically flipped that on its head, and new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) purchases may be eligible for a $7,500 discount off of the starting MSRP. So, take that into consideration if purchasing the Kia EV9 or Kia EV6 at Miami Lakes Automall.

Also built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that the EV6 is built on, the EV9 has an all-electric range (AER) of about 350 miles. Capable of ultra-fast 800-volt charging, the EV9 can get about 155 miles added to the current range in about 15 minutes. In 2023, Kia BEVs finally got the upgrade when Kia America announced that all Kia BEV consumers will have access to 12,000 Tesla Superchargers to charge up and get going faster than ever before, so that 800-volt charging capability should come in handy.

The 2024 Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) Awards are just a preliminary. Several vehicles have been entered for the final round, including the Kia EV9. Winner of the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year award will be announced later on March 8, 2024, International Women’s Day. Fingers crossed.
