Ever since its release, the Kia EV9 has been racking up awards left and right. Landing in America officially during Monterey Car Week in August 2023, the all-electric SUV follows the first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) to start the automaker’s new all-electric lineup, the Kia EV6. Automotive journalists and organizations review cars and put together “best of lists” throughout the year, every year, and this year marks the fourth time a Kia model is named on the AutoTrader annual “Best New Cars of 2024” list. This year the EV9 brings home a new win, earning its place on the list.

“Building on Kia’s reputation of delivering vehicles with segment-above excellence, the EV9 brings the three-row SUV into the EV era with available features that matter most,” – Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America

Multiple Kia models have landed on AutoTrader’s “Best New Cars of 2024” list. The EV9 is following many great names, including the Carnival MPV, and the Seltos, Sportage and Telluride SUVs. Landing on the list alongside 10 other top vehicles, the competition can be quite thick. To cut through all the possible winners, AutoTrader editors tested and scored new models to determine the vehicles worthy of earning the honor of being named one of the best new cars of 2024. It started with only including vehicles that are available for purchase within the next nine months and offer significant value. The Kia EV9 electric SUV definitely offers value.

Starting at $54,900 (plus destination fee), the 2024 Kia EV9 may be all-electric, but it offers drivers a standard all-electric range (AER) of 230 miles. Available in five trims – Light, Light Long, Wind, Land, and GT-Line – the Light Long Range has an AER 304 miles, the Wind and Land trims have an AER of 280 miles, and the GT-Line provides an AER of 270 miles. Many exterior and interior features come standard to really live it up to the automaker’s first all-electric SUV, including exterior mirrors with LED turn signals, solar control glass, and sound-absorbing windshield glass and front door window glass. An 8-way power driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar adjustment and an 8-way power front passenger seat with 2-way power lumbar adjustment come standard, plus triple-zone automatic climate control with an automatic de-fog system is a lineup standard, plus rear passenger automatic climate control, heated front row seats, ventilated front row seats, and LED interior lighting.

Bringing a couple of firsts to the lineup, the EV9 also features 24 inches of digital screens with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display and 12.3-inch instrument cluster display both standard. Smart-touch haptic controls and Kia Connect also come standard, making the interior of the EV9 feel more futuristic each year. The EV9 also has just about every advanced automatic safety system a consumer could think of. Starting with the basics such as blind-spot collision warning, forward collision warning, and rear cross-traffic alert collision avoidance-assist, more advanced features that make use of artificial intelligence to co-pilot the car consist of navigation-based smart cruise control with stop & go plus curve, highway driving assist 2, and intelligent speed limit. Safe driving has never been easier with the Kia EV9.
