Kia and Digital Artist SixnFive Render Opposites United Lifestyle Design
Ever since the Kia EV3 concept has come to life, it seems like all-electric vehicle fans can talk about it. It’s so flashy, so affordable, and so beefed up with new and modern features, one would think the EV3 will be the focus of Kia models going forward. Some automotive journalists are even calling the Kia EV3 too nice for the North American market. We don’t know about that, but Kia continues to lean into its “Opposites United” design philosophy with the look and feel of the EV3. Most recently, Kia collaborated with renowned Barcelona-based digital artist SixnFive to create a world inspired by the Kia EV3 and the brand’s design philosophy.
Just check out these pictures. Imagine a building built into land masses instead of cutting them out. We’re not saying there’s some large tree that grew perfectly to house a garage, but it looks pretty cool regardless. Kind of takes treehouse to a whole new level, though, no? That first image is also a great callback to the “Smart City” concept by Hyundai where nature is kept as a focal point of the city rather than the background with how it seems almost integrated into the housing structure.
“The EV3 embodies our Opposites United design philosophy perfectly, with a combination of eye-catching design and thoughtful functionality, yet at the same time being of the moment and future-ready…We wanted to take these design elements and extend them to the spaces we inhabit, to blend imagination and reality while creating a new and more intrinsically organic way of visualising urban areas.” – David Hilbert, Director of Marketing at Kia Europe
Even with the EV4 on the way, the Kia EV3 is really blowing up. Offering a best-in-class interior space and a segment-leading all-electric range (AER) of 375 miles, the EV3 fits perfectly into a forward-thinking lifestyle. Built on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and powered by a standard 58.3 kW battery (able to provide 270 miles), the EV3 is the first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) from Kia to offer a lounge mode. Perfect for taking a breather when recharging or at a road stop, the EV3 lounge mode employs cushy, heated, cooled, fully reclining seats and a 30-inch screen for streaming TV shows and films. Like we said, the “Opposites United” design philosophy continues with the trim levels, offered in Air, Earth, and GT Line.
The EV3 is such a winner, that it also became the first model to receive a product from the Kia and The Ocean Cleanup collaboration. Extracting plastics from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP), a collection of marine debris in the north Pacific Ocean, the collaboration extracts plastics and then sorts them to be used as material in Kia products and accessories. The first of its kind is a limited-edition trunk liner for the all-new Kia EV3.
We wonder if the EV4 will be as well-received, or even overshadow the EV3. The same thing happened to the Kia EV6 after the Kia EV9 was released, although the original will always hold a special place in our hearts. Only seen in spy shots during test drives overseas, we’re still eagerly awaiting the release of the Kia EV4, although both concepts came out around the same time.
