Kia Adds New Features for 2025 Kia Sorento Hybrid

2024 is barely even over, and some automakers are already announcing the prices for their 2025 models. This is true for the 2024 Kia Sorento Hybrid (HEV), and some would think that such an early price release would mean that the model doesn’t come with many changes, if any. The Kia Corp claims the 2025 model year does add some updates to the electrified SUV for a more confident and modern appearance, plus a tech-rich interior. Let’s dive in and see what’s really going on here.
For one thing, there are still only two trims for the 2025 Kia Sorento HEV – the Kia Sorento HEV has the EX and SX Prestige. Powering both models is a 1.6-liter turbocharged Gas Direct Injection (GDI) I-4 and a 1.5 kWh battery that powers a 44.2 kW electric motor. Together, they generate 227 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. Nothing new there, but there is a slight decrease of an EPA-estimated combined fuel economy of 36 MPGe instead of 37 MPGe.
A handful of features are standard on the Kia Sorento HEV, including heated exterior mirrors with LED turn signals, a smart power tailgate, automatic headlights, LED lighting, solar control glass, sound-absorbing windshield glass, privacy glass, and high beam assist. This year, the Sorento HEV will be joining the rest of the new models, adopting new standard lighting elements, including Kia’s signature Star Map lighting in the front and rear. New exterior paint colors are also added, including Cityscape Green, Mineral Blue, Interstellar Grey, and Volcanic Sand exterior colors.
Inside, a standard panoramic instrument panel with a 4.3-inch TFT and 12.3-inch screen has been added, plus an upgrade of a curved panoramic panel with 12.3-inch dual screens for the SX-P trim. This matches the latest pattern of offering consumers 24 inches of digital screens. More features will become available via Over the Air (OTA) updates and Kia Connect. Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, a wireless phone charger, pre-cooling and heating activation via the Kia Connect App, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity are also standard.
Let’s not forget all of the other interior features Kia offers it consumers, starting off with a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar support adjustment and an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. Both upgrades in the SX-P trim with a 14-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 4-way lumbar support adjustment & 2-way power thigh extension and a 10-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. Heated front seats, a one-touch sliding & folding second row, 50/50 split-folding & reclining third row, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a dual level floor cargo are standard regardless.
In terms of safety, the Kia Corp is no slouch. Many advanced safety features are included, such as blind-spot collision-avoidance assist with parallel exit, forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist, & junction turning/detection), rear cross-traffic collision avoidance alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, and more. For 2025, an available Smart Cruise Control-Machine Learning system is being added on top of the already standard navigation-based smart cruise control with stop & go plus curve and intelligent speed limit assist. The 2024 Kia Sorento HEV comes with highway driving assist, but highway driving assist 2 will also be made available for 2025.
The changes are few, but they all add a little something to the Kia Sorento Hybrid. Can’t wait and want to enjoy all the hybrid SUV has to offer? Find a new Kia Sorento Hybrid at Miami Lakes Automall.
