The Most Awarded Car of 2019? The Jeep Wrangler
It should come as no surprise that the 2019 Jeep Wrangler has yet another accolade to celebrate. This time around Kelley Blue Book (KBB) did the honors, bestowing their coveted “Most Awarded Car of 2019” prize on the Wrangler. KBB evaluates more than 350 models within the year, including models that have already earned other KBB awards within the same year, but only one vehicle can take the top honor.
KBB editors are tasked with driving and reviewing all available new cars each year, giving new meaning to the highly-coveted “Most Awarded Car of 2019” title. “We each have an abundance of knowledge that fuels our editorial awards and accolades, while our analysts evaluate tremendous amounts of detail to help determine which vehicles make the cut for Kelley Blue Book’s awards. Kelley Blue Book’s Most Awarded Car for 2019 is the Jeep wrangler, a recently redesigned icon and perennial favorite that excels in many categories,” Matt DeLorenzo, senior managing editor for Kelley Blue Book, stated.
This is not the first award the 2019 Wrangler collects from KBB, the model is already the proud recipient of KBB’s “Best Resale Value and Best 5-Year Cost-to-Own” awards. In fact, the 2019 Wrangler ranks in the top 10 Best SUVs Under $30,000. Like we mentioned before, the Wrangler not only made it into the Best Resale Value Awards category, it also got a special mention in the newly-formed Off-Road SUV/Crossover Segment. According to Eric Bara, director of residual values for KBB, the 2019 Wrangler is the “top dog in the newly-created Off-Road SUV/Crossover category and has managed to maintain very high 60-month residual values, which also earns it a Top 10 award.”
The 2019 Jeep Wrangler comes in four different trim levels – Sport, Sport S, the luxurious Sahara and the off-road kingpin, the Rubicon. Other special editions are introduced throughout the year and are usually based on the high-tier Sahara or Rubicon trim. Buyers can opt between the classic two-door or four-door body styles, although the Sahara and special editions are only available in four-door models. Standard on every Wrangler is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine offering 285 horsepower. Those who would like more fuel efficiency from their Wrangler can choose the optional 2.0-liter direct-injection turbo engine with eTorque that offers buyers 270 horsepower and boasts a fuel efficiency rating of 23 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. According to Jeep, the 2019 Wrangler “remains true to its heritage as the original open-air fun-and-freedom machine.”
MotorTrend also recognized the 2019 Wrangler with the SUV of the Year award. “The Wrangler is a thoughtful, thorough network of an American original. It’s laser-focused on improving the performance of its intended function, right down to the last nut and bolt,” said Angus Mackenzie, MotorTrend international bureau chief.
