The 2020 Jeep Gladiator Continues to Rack Up the Accolades
The 2020 Jeep Gladiator took the midsize pickup segment by storm and is often referred to as the “most capable midsize truck ever” by the brand. Sobre Ruedas, a Spanish-language — not to mention leading — radio show just bestowed the “Best Off-Road Vehicle” honors on the all-new Gladiator at the 49th edition of the Miami International Auto Show. Relying on an executive committee to hand out nominations, Sobre Ruedas then relies on a group of industry experts to choose the winners. Sobre Ruedas has a total of 12 categories to award, with an additional top prize — the lucky 13th Sobre Ruedas Vehicle of the Year award.
“The Jeep Gladiator is a midsize truck that truly dominates in both on- and off-road driving while providing a high level of versatility that today’s customers demand. No other truck of any size offers the unique experience of open-air driving while also having the capability to tackle any obstacle thrown its way, all in a very attractive package,” said Jaime Florez, director and host of Sobre Ruedas.
Like we mentioned earlier, it’s not so simple being the most off-road capable midsize truck ever. The 2020 Gladiator model honors the tough and dependable Jeep pickups that have brought us here. The combination of versatility, overall capability, iconic open-air freedom, and complete rugged utility make the Gladiator an appealing choice when looking for a midsize pickup that can do it all. With best-in-class 4×4 towing and payload capabilities, as well as plenty of powertrain combinations (three in total), the Gladiator is well-suited to meet all kinds of demands. Whether those demands be from a commuter or an adventure enthusiast with an active lifestyle, the Gladiator can conquer each challenge with ease, making it unmistakably Jeep.
Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto come standard on the 2020 Gladiator. Other standard features include Forward Collision Warning-Plus, Rear Cross Path Detection, adaptive cruise control, and Blind-Spot Monitoring. All Gladiator vehicles are trail-rated, regardless of trim, and are adorned with a trail-rated badge, indicating the Gladiator can abide by the brand’s slogan: Go Anywhere. Do Anything. Designed to perform and adapt to all weather and driving conditions, the 2020 Gladiator boasts impressive figures when it comes to water fording, ground clearance, traction, maneuverability, and articulation.
The Gladiator Rubicon stands out as the top-tier trim, complete with a set of red tow hooks, a segment-exclusive electronic sway bar disconnect, front and rear heavy-duty Dana 44 axles, Tru-Lok electric front- and rear-axle lockers, and a two-speed transfer case with a 4:1 low-range gear ratio. The 2020 Gladiator is also equipped with the Rock-Trac 4×4 system, helping the pickup efficiently distribute torque and allowing for better handling while on or off the road. Other standard features of the Gladiator Rubicon include cab and bed rock rails and 33-inch Falken Windpeak all-terrain off-road tires.
