2015 Jeep Compass BLACK

The Jeep Compass in Miami was named one of the Ten most affordable 2015 SUVs by Kelley Blue Book; which is just what Jeep wanted it to be. Jeep knows that this little SUV isn’t as capable as off-roading compared to the Wrangler or even the Renegade. But, that wasn’t their intent with this vehicle. This SUV is front-wheel drive, and is more car-based than SUV based. This means, it’s perfect for putting around town or through the suburbs — not so much as a rugged rock-crawler.

This little SUV was named one of the ten most affordable 2015 SUVs by Kelley Blue Book, so let’s take a look at it’s price when compared to the competition.

Subaru Forester

The Subaru Forester is a long-time favorite among the compact SUV community, but it’s also one of the more expensive ones out there. The 2015 model costs $22,195, and the 2016 model costs $22,395. While the older Compass models might not have been as efficient or powerful as some of it’s competitors, that’s no longer the case. The 2015 Subaru Forester is able to get up to 32 mpg highway, and the 2015 Compass can get up to 27 mpg.

While the Compass might have a slightly weaker engine and a little less fuel-efficiency, it’s a fair trade off for the low price it’s boasting.

Ford Escape

Same situation for the Ford Escape, it might have a slightly stronger engine, but the fuel-efficiency is relatively the same. The 2015 Escape gets up to 31 mpg highway, and the 2015 Compass gets up to 27 mpg highway. For putting around town or on the highway, the difference in fuel-efficiency is almost negligible; and can certainly be ignored for the price difference.

The Ford Escape comes in at a starting MSRP of $22,960, which is right up there with the Subaru Forester.

Jeep Compass

Whereas the price of the 2015 Jeep Compass comes in at an extremely low $18,995 starting MSRP. 2-3 mpg doesn’t seem like that big of a difference when compared to 3 grand in savings now that you know the price, huh? Furthermore, the Jeep Compass has the same luxurious styling of a Grand Cherokee; along with the same type of technology and interior comfort features.

It also has the benefit of being a hatchback, but feels like a full-size sedan on the inside. You can comfortably sit 4 people on the inside of the 2015 Compass, and still have room for a few bags of groceries in the back. Therefore, it has the versatility that comes with a hatchback design, with the interior comfort and roominess of a family-sedan.

It’s the same situation for the 2016 Compass, and most of the main-stream compact SUVs can’t touch it’s starting MSRP of $19,595. The base fuel economy decreased slightly, but if you upgrade to the 2.0-liter World Engine with a 4×2 model you can achieve up to 30 mpg highway; which makes it the most fuel-efficient Compass yet. The interior got a makeover as well, and has a few more luxury features the previous model didn’t have. Making the low-price of the 2016 Compass an even more appealing choice when compared to it’s competitors; and the similar performance of a 2015 model for a low price equally as appealing.
