What To Expect For The 2024 Nex-Gen Camaro

Chevrolet is preparing for a new chapter in the Camaro’s legacy after over eight years of the current sixth-generation model. While details about the upcoming generation are eagerly anticipated, the current Camaro, a beloved muscle car, is still available for enthusiasts.

2024 Upgrades

Chevrolet is bidding farewell to the sixth-generation Camaro in 2024. While this doesn’t mark the end of the Camaro’s legacy, the sixth-generation model that has been thrilling drivers since the 2016 model year will be honored with a special Collector’s Edition for its final year. The specifics of the Collector’s Edition have not been disclosed, but Chevrolet has mentioned that it will be available for the RS and SS models, as well as a limited number of the ZL1 variant. Fans remain hopeful for a final production run of the highly sought-after Z/28 before the assembly line ceases production for the sixth-generation Camaro.

For the ultimate Camaro experience, the SS trim equipped with the optional 1LE Track Performance package is recommended. This package enhances the appearance with black-painted 20-inch wheels, satin-black exterior accents, and unique interior elements such as microsuede trim and more supportive Recaro front seats (exclusive to SS models). The most significant upgrades, however, are focused on performance. The 1LE package enhances the Camaro’s performance with a dual-mode exhaust system, improved powertrain cooling components, more robust brakes, a limited-slip differential, and specialized suspension tuning that strikes a perfect balance for track-day activities. While it is noteworthy that even models with four-cylinder and V-6 engines offer the 1LE package, choosing the 1SS trim with the powerful V-8 engine and the standard manual transmission would be the optimal combination.

Powertrains

The base powertrain for the Camaro is a 335-horsepower V-6 engine paired with either a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission. The V-6 engine provides a distinct and captivating soundtrack, but for maximum performance, the optional small-block V-8 is the choice, delivering 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. The V-8’s exceptional low-end torque, linear power delivery, and exhilarating acceleration are further enhanced by the optional dual-mode exhaust, which produces a sharp bark at startup and thunderous sounds during intense acceleration. Similar to the V-6, the V-8 can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic transmission, the latter being optional. For models not equipped with the 1LE package, the standard transmission is the six-speed manual.

Interior Comforts

The latest Camaro boasts an upgraded interior with better materials and a modern design. The comfortable front seats and user-friendly layout contribute to an enjoyable driving experience. While the back seat may be small for adults, the Camaro stands out with an optional head-up display for added convenience. Customizable ambient interior lighting adds a stylish touch. Although cargo space is limited compared to rivals, the Camaro’s primary focus is on delivering thrilling performance and an unmatched driving experience.

Technological Comforts

Every Camaro is equipped with a user-friendly touchscreen featuring Chevy’s Infotainment 3 software. While the larger 8.0-inch touchscreen provides better visual integration, the plastic bezel’s appearance is considered subpar, and its downward angle can be awkward. Nevertheless, the overall combination of controls and organized menus is well-received. Chevy’s infotainment system offers standard features such as intuitive controls, attractive menus, responsive feedback, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eliminating the need for a physical connection.
