The inaugural Chevrolet Blazer EV model, manufactured at General Motors’ esteemed Ramos Arizpe facility in Mexico, is en route to the United States.
The First Model Arrives in the US
As per the latest report from Vanguardia MX, a reputable news outlet in Mexico, the highly regarded Chevrolet Blazer EV, produced at GM’s prominent Ramos Arizpe plant, has departed its manufacturing location and is currently on its way to the United States.
The announcement arrives precisely two weeks subsequent to the facility’s social media post, revealing that the inaugural market-ready Blazer EV had successfully concluded its assembly process.
Tereso Medina Ramirez, the General Secretary of the Confederation of Workers of Mexico (CTM), disclosed that GM’s Ramos Arizpe facility is currently achieving a production rate of 65 Blazer EV models per hour. Additionally, he confirmed that the initial consignment of the new electric SUV had already been dispatched to the United States.
Medina Ramirez expressed his thoughts on this significant achievement, stating:
“Since last week, we were very pleased to see that the first Blazer under construction left for the United States, the first order, we are already working on it, for the foreign market.”
Meanwhile, Medina Ramirez mentioned that a specific date for the first departure of the Equinox EV from the complex has not yet been determined.
As reported by Medina Ramirez, the GM Ramos Arizpe complex boasts a workforce capacity of 4,000 employees, with 2,000 individuals exclusively assigned to the production of electric vehicles.
The Chevrolet Blazer EV is slated to be available in five distinct trims, encompassing the 1LT, 2LT, RS, a specialized Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) edition, and Chevy’s pioneering SS electric performance model. GM’s estimations indicate that the Blazer EV will offer a range of 247 to 320 miles, varying according to the specific trim chosen.
The initial release plan for the Blazer EV SS in North America indicated a scheduled launch this fall. However, a recent update on Chevrolet’s website suggests a slight adjustment to the timeline, with the performance version now expected to be available for purchase in the forthcoming spring season.
Until this time, customers will retain the opportunity to acquire the 2LT model, commencing at $47,595 (plus destination fee), as well as the RS version, with a starting price of $51,995 (plus destination fee), during the upcoming summer season.
Some features of the Chevy Blazer EV include a premium interior with abundant soft-touch materials throughout its two rows of seats, providing a comfortable and refined driving experience. It also has an 11-inch digital gauge display that seamlessly merges with a massive 17.7-inch touchscreen interface. The front air vents feature jet engine-inspired design elements, and the RS and SS trims offer an optional flat-bottom steering wheel reminiscent of racing heritage.
