Chevrolet Requires The Traditional Route For Buying The 2022 Silverado ZR2 – Miami Lakes Automall Chevrolet
Chevrolet announced that they will not accept reservations or pre-orders for their upcoming Silverado ZR2 truck. According to an interview with GM Authority editor Alex Luft, Director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing, Kelly MacDonald, the 2022 off-reading vehicle will launch through the traditional dealer allocation and launch processes.
This particular approach is different from GM’s other launch strategies for various other specialty vehicles, like the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup, 2023 Cadillac Lyriq, and 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and 2022 CT5-V Blackwing. This restriction on pre-orders for the newest Silverado variant means that buyers will be able to order and essentially purchase the truck from their dealer as they would a regular Silverado, especially since the dealer has the appropriate allocation that enables its order to be accepted by the factory.
On September 9th, Chevrolet introduced the 2022 Silverado ZR2 as the new flagship adventurous model in the lineup of their light-duty pickups, marking it as the first that the ZR2 badge was featured on the Silverado. As with the mid-sized Colorado ZR2, the off-roading Silverado consists of progressive Multimatic DSSV dampers with three separate spool valves and three fluid flow chambers for better damping control. These springs work alongside the dampers to provide maximum front and rear suspension travel. At the same time, front and rear e-lockers further improve the vehicle’s loose surface traction and rock crawling capabilities.
There is perhaps one particular element of the ZR2 that stands out among other Silverado’s, and that is its special front fascia, which involves a high-approach steel front bumper with changeable end caps that provide a bit more intensity to the exterior design, while simultaneously making way an augmented 31.8-degree approach angle. Additional off-road-centered gear consists of a set of distinctive 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory tires, as well as surplus underbody skid plates. At last, the dual exhaust system has been reformed, involving tucked-down exhaust tips that stop ahead of the rear bumper, lessening the chance that it will get dented or smashed when going off-road or performing rock crawling activities.
Supplementary exterior add-ons for the Silverado variant include several ZR2 badges on the outer body, a new black hood insert, a special grille coupled with lighting, and a flow-tie emblem with a red inlay.
GM’s sole engine option will be their naturally-aspirated 6.2L L87 V8 engine, which has an output of 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque paired to the automaker’s 10-speed automatic transmission and 4WD. Another standard is the new Terrain Mode setting, which gives way for one-pedal driving, ensuring precise control for rock crawling. Max payload gets a rating of 1,440 lbs, while the maximum conventional trailer weight gets a rating of 8,900 lbs.
The upcoming ZR2 will be available solely in the 4-door Crew Cab, Short Bed body style. It will also encompass the remodeled 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 interior, along with the standard 13.4-inch-diagonal color touchscreen and 12.3-inch-diagonal customizable digital instrument cluster.
While at the 2021 SEMA show, Dom Lester, General Motors chief engineer for Performance Variants and Motorsports, discussed with GM Authority’s Alex Luft that the ZR2 was constructed using knowledge obtained from racing a ZR2 prototype (near-production) in the Best in the Desert racing series with the Hall Racing team, and from testing samples in the famous Moab desert in Utah.
“Chevrolet has been competing on some of the most grueling, toughest off-road courses with a prototype Silverado ZR2 in the Best in the Desert race series,” said Lester. “We applied what we learned in racing and Moab testing to the new ZR2 to offer a supremely capable and confidence-inspiring package, but one that doesn’t beat you up on the highway with its ride quality. It’s equally capable and comfortable.”
GM Authority reported last week the newest 2022 Silverado’s timeframe for its launch. This animated truck will enter production in February of the 2022 calendar year for the Regular and Crew Cab, while the Double Cab will enter production in March.
