Camaro and Colorado Named as ‘Motor Trend’ Best of the Year – Miami Lakes Automall Chevrolet

November 20th, 2015 by

Just last week, Motor Trend announced its finalists for the annual “Best of the Year” awards. The prestigious automotive publication puts out a list of the top Best of the Year vehicles from every segment available in the United States. The award is not merely the mention of a name, but rather a top honor in the automotive world. The recognition by the magazine started out back in 1949, and has evolved into one of the most widely recognized awards in the industry. We are proud to say that this year two of the bowtie brand’s vehicles took top honors. The Chevy Colorado, and the Chevy Camaro. Miami, get ready to check out the Best Car and Best Truck of 2016.

Vehicle of the Year Awards Chevy Camaro Miami

To even be in the running for Motor Trend’s Car of the Year award is hard to do. Vehicles must be all-new, or substantially upgraded to even be eligible for voting. Judges look at vehicles that meet that criteria, and that also have a base MSRP of less than $100,000. From there, they look at design advancement, efficiency, engineering excellence, value, safety, and how well the vehicle performs its intended function. The judges base their findings for each of the criteria by subjecting the vehicles to a series of tests.

After all is said and done, only one clear winner can be chosen from each segment category. And this year? Well, let’s just say that Chevrolet didn’t let us down.

Chevy Camaro is ‘Car of the Year’ Chevy Camaro Miami

The 2016 Chevy Camaro was all new for this model year, and the judges at Motor Trend certainly took notice. With its new lightweight design, shorter stance, and performance overhaul – the Camaro won over the judges and took the top spot as the “2016 Car of the Year.” A perfect present for the model’s 50th birthday, and one that we are sure the bowtie brand is celebrating.

The Audi TT, Honda Civic, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz GT S, Mazda MX-5 Miata, and Toyota Mirai were all contenders in the “Car of the Year” category. The last time that Chevrolet took home this coveted award, was in 2011 with the Chevrolet Volt.

Chevy Colorado Diesel Wins ‘Truck of the Year’ Chevy Camaro Miami

This is the second year in a row that the Colorado took home Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year award. The back-to-back win is definitely a confidence booster for the brand, and a thumbs up for all of the innovation they have been working on. Especially in terms of diesel engine options, which is what helped the 2016 Colorado snag the win for this year. Aside from the new diesel engine offering, the Colorado was completely overhauled for this model year, and the hard work paid off.

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, GMC Canyon, Toyota Tacoma, and the Nissan Titan XD, were all finalists in this category. The GMC Canyon is the Colorado’s sister vehicle, but the ingenuity and design change made to the Chevy version of the pickup, ultimately won out.
