2024 Chevy Colorado Receives Production Start Date Amid New Changes
The 2024 Chevy Colorado has received a new production start date. General Motors (GM) will now begin production of the third-generation pickup truck on December 11th (2023). This new date comes after the resolution of the United Auto Workers labor strike which paused production at many of GM’s plants. Thankfully, both GM and the United Auto Workers were able to reach a fair agreement. Now production of the 2024 Colorado can continue. The third-generation Chevy Colorado will also see several new changes so we’ll take a look at the pickup truck and see what consumers can expect.Â
GM Will Resume Production Of 2024 Chevy Colorado
Production of the 2024 Chevy Colorado will resume on December 11th (2023). Originally set for October, the 2024 Colorado received a new production start date due to strikes from the United Auto Workers (UAW) union. The strike affected many General Motors (GM) plants including the Wentzville plant in Missouri primarily focused on production of the Chevy Colorado. Thankfully, both GM and the UAW came to a fair agreement. This means production of the third-generation Colorado can begin soon.
GM recently provided the Chevy Colorado with a brand-new refresh so new changes for the 2024 model year are minor. The Colorado’s latest refresh equipped the mid-size pickup truck with performance upgrades. It also updated its exterior and interior with new styling. Performance-wise, the Colorado comes equipped with a turbocharged 2.7L four-cylinder engine that’s capable of 237 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. There’s also the option for a high-output version of the 2.7L which is more powerful. It delivers 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. This leads us to one of the new changes for the 2024 Chevy Colorado which is the removal of a third engine option that slotted in between the turbo and turbo high-output engines.Â
Inside the 2024 Chevy Colorado, consumers will find the cabin relatively unchanged from the latest refresh. Despite the lack of changes or updates, the Colorado remains a stylish mid-size pickup truck with a host of driver-assist features. Owners will enjoy a refined cabin with an 11.3-inch diagonal infotainment system. Driver assist features like hitch guidance and hitch view help with towing and hauling cargo. For safety, the 2024 Colorado features Chevy Safety Assist which includes departure warnings, lane assist, and pre-collision alerts. There’s also adaptive cruise control and HD surround vision cameras. The 2024 Chevy Colorado starts at an MSRP of $31,095 (plus destination fee). Production will begin December 11th (2023), so consumers interested in the 2024 Colorado should be on the lookout for preorders.
