The 2019 Chevrolet Yenko Corvette has been announced to begin production again. After a long awaited return, Corvette fans can breathe a sigh of relief. The Yenko Corvette is a rarity in the sports car realm with an insane and uniquely high horsepower rating of 1,000 horsepower and 835 lb-ft of torque. Yes, that is correct. _ ONE THOUSAND HORSEPOWER _ . Let’s get into the history of this special Corvette and what to expect when the latest rendition arrives in stores for customers. Currently, the base model 2019 Chevy Corvette starts at $55,495 MSRP (Plus Destination Fee).
The Yenko Corvette
Billet aluminum door sill plates are included with the special Yenko package that includes a Yenko 1000HT Supercharged inscription and the specific vehicle build number, which is ranged from one to 25. That’s right, only 25 units of the Yenko Corvette will be sold – 25 for each Stage I and Stage II version. The exact vehicle build number sold is also listed on both of the two key fobs given to the owner (Two key fobs are better than one). The Yenko Corvette is available in any Chevy body paint color and can be purchased as a coupe or convertible. Even cooler than that is the fact that the Yenko Corvette is a two-level engine. What does that mean?
Remarkable Engine and Packages
The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport has a base engine of 460 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque in a 6.2-Liter LT1 V8 engine. With the optional Z07 Package ($7,995) which brings performance add ons like a Magnetic Selective Ride Control, four-wheel carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes and Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 Summer tires. The real treat comes from the additional performance added with the Speciality Vehicle Engineering (SVE). There are a two options for the Corvette that customers can choose: the 835 horsepower Stage I or 1,000 horsepower Stage II version of the LT1 small block V8 engine. The extra horsepower provided is from the SVE boosts displacement from the standard 6.2-Liter Supercharged V8.
What makes this Corvette truly stand out is the available Stage II package, that pushes this Corvette to an unprecedented 1,000 horsepower. Both the coupe and convertible can be equipped with either the standard seven-speed manual or optional eight-speed automatic transmission. The Stage II 1,000 horsepower package for the 2019 Corvette Grand Sport with the Z07 Package and manual transmission pushes the cost up to $69,000 on top of the base model price. With the Stage II Package for the Corvette Grand Sport with automatic transmission adding $78,000 to the cost of the base model price, due to the extensive requirements needed to store the automatic gearbox. Not just any vehicle can handle this kind of horsepower and torque levels, but the makers at Chevy have found a way to create this one-of-a-kind Corvette.
With the increased horsepower, the engine jumps to a 6.8-Liter Supercharged V8 engine with an aluminum block, upgraded higher flow exhaust system, forged 4340 steel crankshaft and H-beam rods, forged aluminum pistons, a 10-rib dedicated belt drive system, and to make everything work seamlessly, the SVE includes a 2.9-Liter supercharger that gives the total horsepower of 1,000 with it’s ridiculously impressive 875 lb-ft of torque.
Let Them Know It’s a Yenko
Yenko is plastered all over the Corvette to let bystanders know the difference from imposters. Drivers will have a Yenko front fender graphic, rear fascia badges, Yenko logo steering wheel applique, Yenko logo seat trim and more stripe graphics throughout the interior and exterior showing off the Yenko name. This rare vehicle is available to order from select Chevy dealerships that work with Specialty Vehicle Engineering. Once the vehicle is ordered from the SVE facility in Toms River, New Jersey, a month of work will go into shifting the Corvette Grand Sport into either version of the Yenko/SC Corvette Grand Sport monster.
