Engine Types

The 2023 Kia Sorento lineup consists of the LX, S, X-Line S with All-Wheel Drive (AWD), EX, X-Line EX with AWD, SX, SX Prestige with AWD, and the X-Line SX Prestige with AWD. Powering the first three trims is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder DOHC engine, modified with gasoline direct injection (GDI) and idle stop and go (ISG) to optimize performance and fuel economy. This engine is able to generate up to 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. The rest of the lineup is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder DOHC engine, optimized with the same setup, and able to generate 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.

Engineering

The first three trims transmit power through an 8-speed automatic transmission. The rest of the lineup comes with an 8-speed dual-clutch wet transmission. Front-wheel Drive (FWD) is the standard drivetrain on trims without the AWD. Even so, the LX and S trims have a fuel economy of 24 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, whereas the city fuel economy for the EX and SX trims is 22 mpg. Able to opt-in for AWD, the LX and X-Line S with AWD have a fuel economy of 23/25 mpg city/highway. The other trims with AWD have a fuel economy of 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

Exterior Features

Across the lineup of the 2023 Kia Sorento, heated exterior mirrors with turn signals are standard, plus solar control glass, rear privacy glass, a sound-absorbing windshield glass, and automatic headlamps with multi-reflector LED headlights and high beam assist. Past the X-Line, the Sorento comes with a smart power tailgate, and past the EX trim, a panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade (available upgrade for the S, X-Line S AWD, and EX). The SX, SX Prestige AWD, and X-Line SX Prestige AWD come with LED projector headlights, daytime running lights, fog lights, and tail lights. The base LX trim rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, the S and X-Line S AWD, and EX ride on 18-inch alloy wheels, The rest of the lineup rides on 20-inch alloy wheels.

Interior Features

Only the LX trim of the 2023 Kia Sorento comes with cloth upholstery. The majority of the lineup comes with SynTex seat trimming, whereas the SX Prestige and X-Line SX Prestige AWD come with genuine leather, embossed and perforated for comfort. The LX comes with a 6-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, and the first three trims come with a 4-way manually adjustable front passenger’s seat. Past the base, the Sorento comes with a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support. The SX Prestige and X-Line SX Prestige AWD get a 14-way power adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support and power thigh extension. Past the X-Line S AWD, an 8-way power adjustable passenger seat is included, upgrading to a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support on the SX Prestige and X-Line SX Prestige AWD.

Past the base trim, heated front seats are standard, along with dual-zone automatic climate control, rear a/c vents a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob. As usual, the SX Prestige and X-Line SX Prestige AWD come with heated second-row seats, ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. The first three trims come with a 60/40 split-folding second-row seat; this is a 50/50 split in the rest of the lineup. The third row is a 50/50 split-bench for all trims in the lineup.

The base LX trim of the 2023 Kia Sorento comes with an 8-inch touchscreen display, whereas the rest of the lineup comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with Kia Connect and navigation. Across the lineup, Google Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth wireless technology, and steering wheel-mounted audios controls with phone and cruise control buttons are standard. Past the base, the Sorento comes with SiriusXM Satellite Radio, voice recognition commands, and a wireless phone charger. Up until the SX trim, the standard audio system comes with six speakers. The SX Prestige AWD and X-Line SX Prestige AWD come with a Bose Premium Audio system with 12 speakers.

Safety Features and Warranty

The 2023 Kia Sorento comes with many basic safety features, including dual front advanced airbags, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, a rollover sensor, an anti-lock brake system, stability and traction control systems, a rear occupant alert system, rear-camera display, rear seat occupant alert, safe exit assist, and LATCH child-seat ready anchors. Some advanced safety features also come standard, including forward collision avoidance with pedestrian and vehicle detection (plus cyclist and junction turning past the X-Line S AWD), blind-spot collision-avoidance with assist-parallel exit, rear cross-traffic avoidance assist, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, intelligent speed limit assist, a driver attention warning with leading vehicle departure alert, and a rear-view monitor with dynamic parking guidance. The SX Prestige AWD and X-Line SX Prestige AWD come with a blind-spot view monitor, and past the X-Line S AWD trim, navigation-based smart cruise control with stop and go plus curves and highway driving assist become standard. Past the base, trims come with a park distance warning for the rear, with the SX Prestige AWD and X-Line SX Prestige AWD adding a park distance warning system for the front, a parking collision-avoidance assist-reverse system, and a surround view monitor.

The Kia 10-year/100,000 mile warranty program consists of a 10-year/1000,000 mile limited powertrain warranty (this includes the battery of the EV6), 5-year/60,000 mile limited basic warranty, 5-year/100,000 mile limited anti-perforation warranty, and 5-year/60,000 mile roadside assistance plan.
