The Kia Corp has made some changes to its current offering of models in the lineup. Not just SUVs and sedans, but sports cars and battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) are starting to pour in. The 2023 Kia K5 has an assortment of trims this model year – LXS with FWD, GT-Line with FWD and AWD, EX, and the GT. All but the GT trim are powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine, optimized with continuously variable valve duration, able to generate 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The GT is powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, optimized with continuously variable valve timing, able to generate 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.
Driving and Handling
An 8-speed automatic transmission is the standard, with an 8-speed dual clutch transmission (wet type) on the GT trim. A Drive Model Select system is also standard on all trims. Only the GT-Line can come with all-wheel drive (AWD). Most trims offer a fuel economy of 27 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. The GT-Line with AWD has a fuel economy of 25/33 mpg city/highway, and the GT trim offers 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

Exterior Features
Across the lineup, heated mirrors are standard, plus a smart trunk, solar control glass, sound-absorbing windshield glass, multi-reflector headlights, automatic headlamps, high beam assist, and amber LED DRLs. Past the LXS trim, LED turn signals, fog lights, and tail lights are also standard, plus sound-absorbing front door window glass, and the ability to add LED projector headlights. The LXS is equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, whereas the GT-Line and EX come with 18-inch alloy wheels, and the GT rides on 19-inch wheels.
Interior Features
The LXS has cloth upholstery, the GT-Line comes with a combination of Cloth and SynTex with a GT-Line logo embroidered into the back seat, and the EX and GT come with SynTex trimmed seats (available on the GT-Line). A 6-way manual driver’s seat is standard on the LXS, with a 6-way manual front passenger’s seat a standard across the lineup. Past the LXS, drivers get a 10-way power-adjustable seat with 2-way power lumbar adjustment; consumers can add a 10-way power-adjustable front passenger seat with 2-way power lumbar adjustment on the EX and GT trim.
Dual-zone automatic climate control and a 6-/40 split-folding rear seat is a lineup standard. Past the GT-Line, heated front seats are standard, and ventilated front seats are standard on the EX (available on the GT). Past the LXS, the steering wheel is leather-wrapped, plus heating on the GT-Line AWD (available on the EX and GT trims), and an available leather-wrapped gear shift knob on the GT trim.

The LXS trim is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen display whilst the rest of the lineup has a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with navigation and Kia Connect. Across the lineup, Apple CarPlay, Google Android Auto, Bluetooth wireless tech and voice recognition, steering wheel-mounted audio, phone, and cruise control buttons, and a six-speaker sound system are all standard. Past the LXS, SiriusXM Satellite Radio is standard, and the EX and GT can come equipped with a Bose premium audio sound system with 12 speakers.
Safety Features and Warranty
The 2023 Kia K5 comes with many basic safety features, including dual front advanced airbags, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, a rollover sensor, an anti-lock brake system, stability and traction control systems, a rear occupant alert system, rear-camera display, and LATCH child-seat ready anchors. Advanced safety features standard across the lineup include forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection (optional to add cyclist and junction turning past the LXS), a Driver Attention Warning system with leading vehicle departure alert, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, a rear view monitor, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, with smart cruise control with stop and go available past the LXS trim. A parking distance with rear-warning system is standard on the EX trim, optional on the GT trim; with front-warning, parking collision-avoidance with assist reverse, and a surround view monitor optional on the EX and GT trims.
