Engine Type There’s only one engine option for the 2022 Jeep Compass, the 2.4-liter inline-4. The engine generates 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel-drive (FWD) comes standard for the Sport and Latitude variations. The Latitude Lux, Trailhawk, and Limited receive all-wheel-drive (AWD). All models equipped with FWD include a 6-speed automatic transmission, and AWD variations receive a 9-speed automatic. In addition, the Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction control system comes included with an Active-Drive all-wheel-drive system. Fuel economy ratings for FWD receive an estimated EPA rating of 22 miles per gallon city, 31 miles per gallon highway, and 25 combined.
