2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer

The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer returns to the SUV market with that familiar spunk and style that we love in a subcompact. The previous mid-sized crossover is known for being a delicious mix of a miniature Chevy Trax and a not-as-miniature Chevy Blazer. Buyers have the choice of two engines and transmission options, and will also enjoy the avant-garde technologies. The economically friendly prices that are offered makes this year’s Trailblazer the one to beat.

Performance

Engine Type The 2021 Trailblazer can be powered by one of the two engine options, the first being the 1.2-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder that produces 137 horsepower with 162 lb-ft of torque. This motor is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and only comes with a front-wheel-drive (FWD) system. The second engine option is the 1.3-liter turbocharged, this musters up 155 horsepower with 174 lb-ft of torque. It teams up with a 9-speed automatic and has an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD).

Driving and Handling Many will be surprised that the 1.3-liter is able to provide a satisfying ride, especially given the relatively low horsepower. Thanks to the turbocharger, you’ll quickly find that this setup gives the Trailblazer a bit of a pep in its step, it even fairs well in passing power and acceleration. The 1.3-liter then adds a little extra oomph, especially with its AWD and 9-speed automatic. One can optimize their driving experience with Chevrolet’s three drive modes. The Normal mode is agreeable on regular driving roads and most weather conditions. FWD models have Snow Mode (also called AWD mode) which allows you to ride over surfaces that requires more traction, examples including off-road pavements or snowy weather conditions. The Sport mode then provides feedback that is more responsive and has a little bit more excitement…it’s best suited to engage after dropping the kids off at school

The Activ trim has an athletic look with its grille more open, some cladding on the body, 17-inch wheels, and Chevy’s self-proclaimed “simulated skid plates.” The RS model then lives things up with its attractive mesh grille, exclusive front splitter, and all-black bow-tie badge. The automaker also allows you to have a bit of fun with the design, as there are 9 color combinations to choose from, with a different roof color. The exterior palette encompasses Zeus Bronze Metallic with a Summit White Roof, Summit White with a Summit White Roof, Summit White with a Zeus Bronze Metallic Roof, Mosaic Black Metallic with a Summit White Roof, Mosaic Black Metallic with a Zeus Bronze Metallic Roof, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat with a Zeus Bronze Metallic Roof, Satin Steel Metallic with a Summit White Roof, Midnight Blue Metallic with a Summit White Roof, and finally Dark Copper Metallic with a Summit White Roof.

The layout is also quite functional and roomy, with a great list of comforts on higher trims. Drivers will enjoy the high seating position, and all passengers should find comfort with the amount of space and their seats.
