2019 Ram 1500
Since the 2019 Ram 1500 has debuted, it’s been constantly getting awards, mentions, and all around showing off what it can do. This light duty pickup truck is no longer your standard work truck. Able to be reconfigured in all sorts of ways due to the new Mopar Ram catalog, debuted at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, the Ram 1500 can be anything consumers want it to be. Avail. Engine Type
Upon first release, the 2019 Ram 1500 has only two engine options - the popular Pentastar V6 and the legendary 5.7-liter V8 HEMI. Both of these engines are great choices, but there are other engine choices being talked about. The standard engine on most trims is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, able to generate 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque and equipped with the eTorque system to get an additional 90 lb-ft of torque.
Optional on most trims, standard on the Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited trims is the 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine with a Multi-displacement System (MDS) that shuts off four-of-the-eight cylinders when cruising at a steady speed to conserve fuel. This engine can generate 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, and consumers can opt-in for the same engine with eTorque for an additional 120 lb-ft of torque. The popular EcoDiesel is rumored to return, and the new engine by the FCA, a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that can generate 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, is also said to be added to the lineup.
Engineering and Towing Capacity
Many changes have taken place for the 2019 model year. Both engines are designed with variable valve timing (VVT) technology to optimize their engine’s performance and fuel economy by changing the frequency of an engines cylinders valve lift events for air and fuel consumption, and a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission has been paired for all available engines. Overall, the truck is 225 pounds lighter for 2019, with 100 pounds of that due to the new frame. 98-percent of the body is now made with high-strength steel, with several components made from aluminium to shed that extra weight. A new air suspension system was also installed, along with Frequency Response Damping (FRD) shocks.
At this time, the 2019 Ram 1500 is said to be able to tow up to 12,750 pounds and carry a payload of 2,300 pounds. Consumers can thank Ram’s five-link coil suspension. Built to last, Ram trucks aren’t called work trucks for nothing.
Have the itch to go off-road but a fan of Ram trucks? Many consumers don’t know that Ram has come out with its own off-road package for several years, but the new package for the next-generation 2019 model is by far the best. The package adds a one-inch suspension lift, with or without the available four-corner air suspension, an electronic-locking rear differential, and 32-inch on/off-road tires on (standard) 18- or (available) 20-inch wheels to provide additional grip. That package is also available for nearly every trim and comes with transfer cases that have also been upgraded with BorgWarner 48-12 for part-time 4WD operation with Hi and Low ranges and the BorgWarner 48-11 for on-demand 4WD.
If looking for a real off-road truck, the Ram 1500 Rebel returns for 2019, and it’s even more capable than before. When it comes to off-road mayhem, the Ram 1500 Rebel has consumers covered with new 18-inch wheels with 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires driven by an electronic-locking rear differential; coil spring suspension; a one-inch factory lift; designed Bilstein shocks; robust skid plate protection for the transfer case, steering, engine, and gas tank; tow hooks; and hill-descent control for added off-road capability. Ram’s active-level four-corner air suspension is available for the Rebel, but is standard on most other trims.
Many changes have been made to the next generation 2019 Ram 1500, including a lighter, longer, and wider body with improved aerodynamics and sharp body lines. Several aesthetic changes stand out, including a forward-leaning front grille opening and slanted LED headlights (with an adaptive front-lighting system available) on high-end trims, but low-tier trims will most likely come with standard halogen headlamps. All-new tail lamps also come with the same available variations. For the front fascia, six new grille designs are available throughout the 2019 Ram 1500 lineup.
For convenience, a segment-exclusive full-width chrome stamped-steel rear bumper makes up the rear of the truck, and the 2019 Ram 1500 may ride on a variety of wheels ranging from 18 to 22 inches. A new 33.3-inch by 43.4-inch panoramic sunroof is an available option to enjoy the open air, even during tough work days, and the famous RamBox Cargo Management System has returned. Now better than ever, the RamBox features a 115-volt outlet and has relocated its overhead lighting for improved illumination. The RamBox is still weatherproof, lockable, and designed with drainable storage bins built into the bed rails, now raised by 1.5 inches.
Who knew the Ram 1500 would take such a jump into the future? Catching up with modern technology, the 2019 Ram 1500 pickup now comes with push-button start, an electronic parking brake, a redesigned rotary e-shifter dial installed across the lineup as a standard, and technological functions of the media hub have been upgraded with five USB ports (three in the front and two in the back) to keep all kinds of devices charged via USB A and USB C. The upholstery options are the same with cloth or vinyl, the standard on low-end trims, and upscale leather bound to high-end trims of the 2019 Ram 1500.
When it comes to storage options, the 2019 Ram 1500 has really stepped up its game. Consumers will find a wider docking area for optional wireless charging of a small tablet or smartphone, a deep storage tub designed for a 15-inch laptop and additional lined compartment under the center armrest, and another tablet holder for rear passengers behind the two cup holders throughout the cabin. If looking for more security, high-end trims come with a glove box that can slide upwards to reveal a hidden cubby in the dashboard, and two RamBins can be found in-floor for more secretive cargo storage. Folding up the rear bench seat also reveals under-seat compartments.
Variety sure has changed for the 2019 Ram 1500 - four different sound systems are available, ranging from the standard six speaker system of the 2018 model to the 9-speaker Alpine sound system and the Harman Kardon audio system with 19 speakers and 10-inch subwoofer. The standard infotainment system setup is Uconnect 3 on a 5-inch touchscreen, but if opting in for the available 12-inch touchscreen, a class-exclusive, consumers will find a lot more bang for their buck. Not only does the 12-inch touchscreen feature next generation Uconnect 4C with navigation, but the 2019 Ram 1500 with the 12-inch touchscreen comes with the SiriusXM 360L platform with more variety, smart content recommendations, and limitless on-demand streaming audio. That makes the 2019 Ram 1500 the first vehicle to offer the SiriusXM next-generation 360L experience. found available for the first time on the all-new Ram 1500 is a 360-degree Surround View Camera system that provides a birds-eye view of the vehicle via four cameras positioned around the chassis. Also available is a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot.

The 2019 Ram 1500 comes with many standard safety features, such as advanced multistage front airbags, supplemental front-mounted and side-curtain airbags, traction and stability control systems, a ParkView backup camera, and a Sentry Key theft deterrent system. Select trims come with available and advanced safety features, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, advanced brake assist, forward-collision warning, LaneSense Lane Departure Warning-Plus, ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, ParkSense park assist with reverse stop, Rear Cross Path detection, and 9-1-1 Call Assist.
All new Ram trucks are covered by a basic 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, a 5-year/100,000-mile diesel powertrain warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile gas powertrain warranty, roadside assistance for 5 years or 100,000 miles, and rust-through warranty for 5 years and unlimited miles.
