Performance

Engine Type The Sedano features a 3.3-liter V6 engine that puts out 276 horsepower. Mated to the V6 is an eight-speed automatic transmission. The motor moves the Sedona in most circumstances very quickly. The acceleration feels quick and driving up steep hills doesn’t slow the vehicle down. The Sedona gets an EPA-estimated 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The Sedona pulls 3,500 pounds which is pretty good for most minivan choices.

Handling and Braking The Kia delivers a smooth ride over most of the road surfaces, and it remains composed when taking turns. The Sedona is excellent for daily driving and feels sporty as well. The Sedona is only offered with front-wheel-drive.

Style

Exterior Features The Sedona has newer designs in the surface with its lineup that is like the freshly updated Forte compact. The front fascia receives small alterations with a pronounced chin, edgier cuts, and exaggerated lines, while the rear gets new chrome trim pieces and a restyled bumper. The front and rear headlights have been designed again with LED headlamps. The rear side-door handles on the EX trim and above has a button to operate the sliding doors, and the wheels, the 17-, 18-, and 19-inch, all got respective makeovers.

Interior Features The interior has been updated with more tech, a fresh look, and more convenience features. The dashboard has been refined with minor advances such as the instrument cluster which has restyled graphics, and a new wireless-device charger is available for the center console. Standard on SX and SXL models is an electronic parking brake. The Sedona offers a two-seat second row which provides the reclining captain’s chairs with footrests. Available is the 60/40 split-folding third row which continues to be retractable into the cargo floor. The Sedona seats seven (it seats eight when equipped with an optional removable second-row center seat) on standard stain-resistant cloth upholstery. It has leather upholstery, power-sliding rear doors, power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel is available. The first two rows are spacious enough that they remain supportive on long drives. Like most minivans, the Sedona provides more passenger space than many 3-row SUVs.

Technology

Entertainment Standard in the Sedona includes a rearview camera, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Available features include a sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, a cooled glove box, a rear-seat entertainment system, an 8-inch touch screen, push-button start, a six-speaker audio system or an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, three additional USB ports, HD Radio, satellite radio, navigation, and wireless phone charging. The well-organized center stack makes it easier to see and to reach the controls from the driver’s seat. The UVO infotainment system works thanks to the intuitive menu layout. The touch screen responds quickly to inputs, and there are physical controls for some functions as well.

Safety Features and Warranty The safety features available include a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, driver drowsiness monitoring, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic emergency braking. Included are driver, passenger, front head air, rear head, and front side airbag. There is also the brake assist, electronic stability control, daytime running lights, child safety locks, integrated turn signal mirrors, and traction control. The basic warranty is 60 months or 60,000 miles and the corrosion perforation warranty for 60 months/100,000 miles. The powertrain warranty is 120 months or 100,000 miles and roadside assistance coverage 60 months and 60,000 miles.
