Performance
Engine The 2019 Kia Optima is available in four trim levels – LX, S, EX, and SX. The Kia Optima LX and S trim levels share a 185 horsepower 2.4-liter Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) 16-valve I-4 engine. The Kia Optima EX is powered by a standard 178 horsepower 1.6-liter DOHC 16-valve I-4 with a turbocharger, and a 245 horsepower 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve with a turbocharger is standard on the top-tier Optima SX trim level. All models share a four-wheel disc with an antilock braking system and come standard with a front-wheel-drive configuration. Except for the EX trim level, that is standard with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Kia Optima LX, S, and SX all come equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission drivetrain. The fuel economy varies depending on the trim level. For starters, the Optima LX has an EPA of 25 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway. Secondly, the Optima S fuel economy numbers drop slightly to 24 mpg in the city and 33 on the highway. The Optima ES achieves the highest EPA of 27 mpg in the city and 37 on the highway. The highest trim level, the Optima SX, reaches 21 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway.

Each Kia Optima trim features its exclusive seating trim like cloth seats with CleanTex which is standard on the LX, Sport black cloth seat trim with leatherette bolster for the S model, leather seat trim on the EX, and a sport leather seat trim on the SX trim level. The base LX model is standard with an eight-way driver’s seat adjustment with two-way lumbar support, while the S and EX come with a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with two-way power lumbar support and a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with four-way power lumbar support.
Exterior Features Consisting of an all-new sportier exterior style with distinguishing front and rear fascia that’s paired to the signature tiger-nose grille, the 2019 Kia Optima has definite style with some serious curb appeal. Exterior features shared across the lineup include power-adjustable outside mirrors with LED turn signal indicators, heated outside mirrors, solar control glass, auto light control, LED daytime running lights, variable intermittent windshield wipers, and locking fuel-filler door. Exclusive exterior features included on the base trim include a matte gray front grille and a chrome exhaust tip. Furthermore, 17-inch alloy wheels with a machined finish and 215/55R17 tires are standard on the EX, and the top-tier Optima SX comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels with a gloss black finish and 235/45R18 tires.

Entertainment For the 2019 model year, the Kia Optima is loaded with top-of-the-line standard entertainment features. Beginning with those standard features that are shared across the lineup, some of those include Bluetooth wireless technology hands-free connectivity, Siri eyes free, rear-camera display, USB/AUX jack, dual front console 12-volt power outlets, and a trip computer. The base trim is only offered with an 8.0-inch UVO play touch-screen display, and the S and EX come standard with an 8.0-inch UVO link touch-screen display with SiriusXM satellite radio. The SX trim features an 8.0-inch UVO link touch-screen display that includes a voice command navigation system, SiriusXM traffic, and HD radio. Lastly, the SX exclusively features Harman Kardon QuantumLogic Premium Surround Sound with Clari-Fi, 630 Watts and 10 Speakers.
Safety Features and Warranty The majority of the advanced safety features are standard across the entire 2019 Kia Optima lineup. Those safety features include park distance warning-reverse (PDW-R), blind spot collision warning (BCW), lane change assist (LCA), rear cross traffic collision warning (RCCW), forward collision warning (FCW), lane keeping assist-lane (LKA-L), driver attention warning (DAW), vehicle stability management (VSM), electronic stability control (ESC), and hill start assist control (HAC). Additionally, all trim levels are standard with dual front advanced airbags, dual front seat-mounted side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, driver’s side knee airbag, and front seat-belt pretensioners.
