Engine Type The base engine for the current 300 is the highly lauded Pentastar 3.6-liter V6. On the Touring and Touring L trims, it drives on 292 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The V8 uses an 8-speed automatic, and even allows daredevils to take advantage of the manual shift. While both engines work well using regular unleaded fuel, it’s recommended to use Premium for the V8.
