Ram Trucks meant business when its engineers crafted the all-new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX. Enthusiasts will refer to it by its three-letter nomenclature, but those that built it prefer to refer to it as the “T. rex” as a nod to the model’s obvious rivalry with the existing Ford F-150 Raptor. When it comes to the dinosaur food chain, it’s safe to say that T. rex trumps raptor, and that’s exactly the same here — the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX blows its competition out of the water. Mike Koval, Head of Ram Trucks, said “T. rex destroys raptors,” referencing not only Jurassic Park and the Jurassic era, but Ram’s hoping that’s the case during the fourth quarter of 2020 when the model goes on sale. All TRX pickups feature a crew-cab, short-bed configuration and have a base price of $71,690 (including the destination fee). (more…)
Ram made it official — the truck maker will officially pull the covers off the hotly-anticipated 2021 Ram 1500 TRX on Monday, August 17 (2020). Ram Trucks will stream one of the year’s most hotly anticipated automotive debuts online across its social media channels. The presentation will be accessible for public viewing as well, meaning both the press and the public will experience the unveiling at the same time. Designed as a response to Ford’s desert-jumping F-150 Raptor model, the Ram TRX is rumored to have a hefty Hellcat V8 engine under its hood, rather than a standard turbo V6. Here’s what else we know before the TRX’s big debut: (more…)
It’s that time of the year again, the 2019 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show kicks off on November 5th and runs through the 8th. Like every prior year, Mopar will be present to showcase its aftermarket Mopar parts along with other prototype parts and accessories. A total of 14 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) vehicles will be showcased at the event and one of those vehicles is a Ram 1500 Rebel OTG (Off The Grid) overlanding concept. As the premier automotive specialty products trade exhibition worldwide, SEMA is the perfect stage for Mopar and FCA vehicles to shine. (more…)
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) recently unveiled all the changes coming to Ram Trucks’ 2020 lineup. A big running theme for all models? Night Editions that add blacked-out trims and wheels. There’s also a new Ram 1500 Rebel Black Edition, and buyers who need a little more power but don’t want to shy away from the menacing looks can also opt for the Ram 2500 Power Wagon as well. The menacing dark designs are popular over at Ram Trucks, but let’s see what else the automaker is offering in its 2020 lineup. (more…)
Pickup trucks have taken over for the Detroit Three in terms of sales. FCA is currently making big strides in sales after dethroning longtime second-place rival Chevrolet, but what exactly is fueling these sales? Well, the product lineup couldn’t possibly be better. The variety of trims available, coupled with its affordability and forward-thinking design make the Ram 1500 one of the best-selling vehicles across the board. To draw in even more customers, Ram is making a few changes to the 2020 Ram 1500 Rebel. (more…)
2018 is one for the record books over at Ram Trucks thanks to its consistent (nearly non-stop if we’re honest) output of trucks, special edition trims and packages, and even a new engine. As the year comes to a close, Ram is earning top honors and awards from reputable sources that are sure to catapult the brand into a top-seller and help it further expand its vision for the future. Without further ado, here is Ram’s year in review. (more…)
With the 2019 Ram 1500 having recently debuted and going into production, it’s a perfect time to take a look at some of the most powerful trims Ram has in their pickup truck lineup. It’s not easy to pick out the toughest Ram truck models, especially with the larger vehicles like the heavy duty 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 models, so we’re just going to focus on three Ram truck trims designed for off-roading. The three best off-road Ram truck trims are the Ram 1500 Rebel, the Ram Power Wagon, and the upcoming TRX series.
2018 Ram 1500 Rebel
Standard on the Ram 1500 Rebel is the 3.6-liter V6 engine, optimized with variable valve timing (VVT) technology to increase its performance. With this engine, the Ram 1500 Rebel can generate 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. If looking for more power when going off-road, then consumers will also want more torque. With that comes the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine and it is able to generate 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.
Do you love to off-road? If so, a Ram 1500 would be a great light-duty truck for you, but while you’re shopping and seeing all of the Ram truck options, you may start to wonder which Ram 1500 trim would be best for you. Would the off-road monster, the Ram 1500 Rebel, be what you need and want, or would another Ram 1500 trim suffice? At the end of the day, the answer to that really depends on a couple things, how serious of an off-roader are you, what is your budget, and the style you want. These are all important factors to consider before making your next truck purchase.
Obviously any truck with four-wheel drive is capable of going off-road, but exactly how capable? That depends. Adding simple mods here and there to any Ram truck can add more off-road capabilities, but if you want you truck to come pre-loaded with all the off-road mods you need, the Ram 1500 Rebel is your truck. The Ram 1500 Rebel comes with the following off-road features:
- An off-roading drive setting to adjust traction while off-roading
- The Ram 1500 Rebel has an air suspension that gives the truck a higher lift in comparison to the other Ram 1500 models
- The Ram 1500 Rebel comes standard with 17-inch tires wrapped in 33-inch Toyo tires which increase ground clearance for off-roading.
- Bilstein shocks which are the leading selling shock absorbers.
- Rear stabilizer bar which help protect and stabilize the truck off-road.
The Ram 1500 Rebel was a concept vehicle that made it to the lineup in 2015 and has grown in popularity ever since. It’s a light-duty truck that packs the off-road power and capability every adventurer craves. Popular colors for the Ram Rebel are red, mojave sand, and all black (Rebel Black Edition) and now the Rebel is being offered in a blue hue with the new Rebel Blue Streak package.
The new Blue Streak package has a starting price of $45,095 and is available for all the Ram Rebel trims. The package refers to just the unique blue color, but it can be combined with the Black Edition package for even more of an aggressive look. The color, Blue Streak, is new to the Rebel and it is sure to make a truck stand out on the streets (and off).
If you choose to add the Black Edition package (shown in the image above) in combination with the Rebel Blue Streak package, the features include: (more…)
To recap the year, New Atlas published a review of the year’s best off-roading trucks titled, “Rock crawlers: the best trucks of 2016.” To no surprise, two Ram trucks that made the cut — the Ram Macho Power Wagon and Ram Rebel TRX concept.
Both of these trucks were built on the current Ram platforms including the Rebel and Power Wagon. They take both of these already great looking and powerful Ram trucks and transform them into unbeatable off-road machines. Check ‘em out.
Ram Rebel TRX Concept
If you like Ram trucks, chances are you’ve heard of the Ram Rebel TRX concept. Basically, it is a more intense version of the Rebel (which is already pretty B.A. if we don’t say so ourselves). This truck could not only compete with the Ford Raptor, but probably beat it. Just like the Raptor, the Rebel TRX concept is powerful, capable, and ready to go anywhere. (more…)
