With the 2019 Ram 1500 having recently debuted and going into production, it’s a perfect time to take a look at some of the most powerful trims Ram has in their pickup truck lineup. It’s not easy to pick out the toughest Ram truck models, especially with the larger vehicles like the heavy duty 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 models, so we’re just going to focus on three Ram truck trims designed for off-roading. The three best off-road Ram truck trims are the Ram 1500 Rebel, the Ram Power Wagon, and the upcoming TRX series.
2018 Ram 1500 Rebel
Standard on the Ram 1500 Rebel is the 3.6-liter V6 engine, optimized with variable valve timing (VVT) technology to increase its performance. With this engine, the Ram 1500 Rebel can generate 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. If looking for more power when going off-road, then consumers will also want more torque. With that comes the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine and it is able to generate 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.
To recap the year, New Atlas published a review of the year’s best off-roading trucks titled, “Rock crawlers: the best trucks of 2016.” To no surprise, two Ram trucks that made the cut — the Ram Macho Power Wagon and Ram Rebel TRX concept.
Both of these trucks were built on the current Ram platforms including the Rebel and Power Wagon. They take both of these already great looking and powerful Ram trucks and transform them into unbeatable off-road machines. Check ‘em out.
Ram Rebel TRX Concept
If you like Ram trucks, chances are you’ve heard of the Ram Rebel TRX concept. Basically, it is a more intense version of the Rebel (which is already pretty B.A. if we don’t say so ourselves). This truck could not only compete with the Ford Raptor, but probably beat it. Just like the Raptor, the Rebel TRX concept is powerful, capable, and ready to go anywhere. (more…)
If you are a truck fan you have definitely heard of the Ram Rebel. The Ram Rebel is built on the Ram 1500 platform and is a strong off-roading truck. Well, Ram Trucks surprised us with a more fierce, louder and stronger new Ram Rebel concept — the Ram Rebel TRX. If you were at the 2016 State Fair of Texas, you may have seen the truck, but it was more likely that you heard it. If you weren’t there, here is the rundown..
The Ram Rebel TRX concept is powerful, and we mean very powerful. The engine on this bad boy is a specially-built supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine, making it Ram’s most powerful engine. The 575-horsepower engine is capable of off-road speeds of over 100 mph. If the Rebel TRX concept were to be produced, it would be the most powerful factory-engineered half ton truck ever made.
The exterior of the Rebel TRX concept is daring and tough to the core. It features a unique front grille with a large Ram logo, steel bumpers, and an acute hourglass body design that is six inches wider than the Ram 1500. With the wider body the truck also has large fender wells, and it sits on huge painted rims that are wrapped with 37-inch off-road tires, all of which add to the truck’s aggressive styling.
Inside the Ram Rebel TRX concept, is the spacious cabin that provides both a luxury and sleek appeal. Some of the interior features that were specially designed for the Rebel TRX concept are suede and cloth seats, six-point racing harnesses on all the seats, and paddle shifters to both help with the driving and make the truck even better for handling.
