Ram’s Power Wagon has been around for some time now. The off-road pickup first found its inspiration from World War 2 Dodge-produced trucks. Ever since its debut, the Power Wagon has been able to continue to make a name for itself as one of the most capable and efficient pickup trucks available. Although the name itself was discontinued in 1980 in favor of the Power Ram, the Power Wagon name was soon revived in 2010. Flash forward to today and the Power Wagon remains just as relevant as ever. We’ll go into detail about some of the best features of the 2022 Ram Power Wagon and why it stands as such a powerful and capable pickup.
Power Wagon’s 6.4L V8
One of the main features that give the 2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon its oomph’ is its 6.4L V8 Hemi engine. Ram ensured that the pickup would have the power and performance to take care of just about any job. The 6.4L V8 is capable of a respectable 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, Wagon owners are able to get an astounding tow capacity of up to 17,520 pounds. They’re also able to get another 4,010 pounds of payload in the truck bed. The Ram 2500 Power Wagon also features variable-cam timing, a fully electronic automatic transmission, and on-the-fly shift mapping.
Power Wagon’s Gas-charged Monotube Shocks
Another key feature unique to the 2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon is its monotube shocks. These come courtesy of the company Bilstein which utilizes their private facility in Nurburgring, Germany to produce some of the most capable shocks in the off-roading sector. The Power Wagon remains light and agile thanks to the suspension upgrades and gas-charged shocks. The powerful pickup also receives a larger carrying capacity while reducing uncontrolled movement. The shocks are also able to last longer thanks to their increased dampening power.
Power Wagon’s Front sway bar
In addition to its V8 engine and gas-charged shocks, the 2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon comes equipped with an electronically disconnecting front sway bar. This front sway bar drastically improves the Wagon’s off-road capabilities and maximizes articulation for the toughest of terrains. Typically used on 4x4s and off-roaders, this sway bar helps each wheel work independently of one another. This helps maintain contact with the ground when going off-road.
Power Wagon’s Warn Zeon-12 Winch
The 2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon has one final feature that allows it to be such a powerful off-road pickup. This is the Warn Zeon-12 Winch which is a 12-volt winch that features a synthetic cable. This lightweight winch can pull up to 12,000 pounds with a single line. It also has over 80 feet of slack. Power Wagon owners will be happy to know that the Zeon-12 winch features a black powder-coated finish with stainless steel fasteners which helps reduce corrosion. For longevity, this is the optimal choice. Given all its features and capabilities, the 2022 Ram 2500 Power Wagon is a pickup unlike any other.

Just last week, Ram announced its all-new Ram 1500 Harvest Edition Chassis Cab pickup truck. For the 2018 model year, Ram has announced that the “tough and capable” Ram 2500 Power Wagon will gain an extra option package consumers can now pick from – the Mojave Sand Package. Not only that, but Fiat Chrysler Automobiles also hinted at their plans to design an all-new Ram midsize pickup truck named the Scrambler.
2018 Ram Power Wagon Mojave Sand Package
While avoiding the Power Wagon’s mechanical specs for this special edition, the new Mojave Sand option package features an entirely black version of the Power Wagon’s 17-inch wheels, instead of the typical polished aluminum rims. Additionally, the Ram Power Wagon’s Heavy Duty Luxury package includes black upholstery throughout the interior cabin, heated power folding mirrors, LED lighting in the cargo bed, an overhead console, and a universal garage door opener. The Power Wagon will maintain the same 6.4-liter V8 engine that produces 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. Six-speed automatic transmission with four-wheel-drive (FWD) is matched to the 6.4-liter engine, along with, locking differentials at the front and rear that assist in traction.
In the event of unexpected rough road conditions, the Ram Power Wagon has an electronic disconnecting sway bar that provides up to 26-inches of wheel travel. Sway bars are designed to maintain your vehicle leveled and prevent rolling, which isn’t ideal for off-roading. While disconnecting the sway bars isn’t difficult, it can become a hassle when having to do it manually. This is where an electronic disconnect comes in handy.
The Power Wagon also has 14.3-inches of ground clearance and 30-inches of wading depth, specifically for off-roading through the water. Even with the 12,000-pound Warn brand winch, drivers can get out of pretty much any sticky situation. Lastly, on top of the Power Wagon’s starting price of $52,795 (plus destination fee), the Mojave Sand Option Package will be an additional $795. Said to be released during the fourth quarter of 2018 with limited availability, interested consumers are urged to act fast!
All-New Ram Midsize Pickup Truck
Since stepping away from the mid-size truck market in 2011, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has decided to make a comeback. This announcement comes as no surprise due to the recent return of the Ford Ranger and the Chevrolet Colorado, that is gaining an all-new diesel engine. Automotive News has recently stated that suppliers are hinting that the new Ram midsize pickup truck will be joining the new Jeep Wrangler truck platform, currently in production. Due to take place at Fiat-Chrysler’s Toledo, Ohio production facility, the all-new Ram will likely be a body-on-frame pickup truck, not to be confused with the Ram unibody Latin American 700 model or Fiat’s Toro. Also, once the rumored Ram midsize pickup truck and Jeep Wrangler pickup variant go on sale, the components shared within each vehicle will assist in keeping FCA costs inline.
According to Automotive News, it is believed that the Jeep pickup truck alone won’t sell enough units initially, so adding an additional truck to the lineup will assist in closing the gap and make sure that the Toledo plant is running at full capacity. Oh! By the way, ever heard of something called Chicken Tax? Imposed in 1964, the Chicken Tax is a ruling that places a 25 percent tariff on small trucks that aren’t built here in the United States. So, to avoid this, FCA will develop the midsize Ram Truck here in the U.S. Aside from Mike Manley’s Capital Markets Day presentation that confirms a midsize or metric ton pickup by 2022, there is no additional information about the supposed Ram.
From an all-new option package to a midsize pickup truck, Ram definitely has their hands full for the years ahead. Interested in test driving the all-new 2019 Ram 1500? Of course, if you have a Ram 2500 Power Wagon, fun is your best friend. Having fun means getting adventurous for those that drive pickup trucks. That being said, sometimes fun results in getting stuck. For that very reason, pickup drivers love the Ram Power Wagon with the electric winch on the front.
The winch on this heavy-duty pickup is mounted behind the front bumper. It is a standard electric Warn winch and is able to pull up to 12,000 pounds. The best part about this winch is you can pull yourself out no matter where you are! Simply hook it up to a stable tree and you are good to go. It is also useful for pulling your buddies out of a sticky situation! Apart from getting stuck, if your truck unfortunately flips, it can be used to get the truck back up.
2016 is more than halfway over, which means 2017 Ram trucks models are coming. Here is the breakdown of the additions and changes to the new 2017 Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 lineups.
2017 Ram 1500 Lineup Changes
The 1500 Ram truck is a light-duty pickup truck that handles basic towing needs with ease. In 2017 Ram 1500 will be available in 11 different trims: Tradesman, Express, HFE, Big Horn, Lone Star, Sport, Rebel, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited.
Aside from a new special-edition appearance package and a few additional features on the Ram Rebel and Laramie Longhorn trims, not much has changed to the 1500 model lineup. In 2017, the Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn will be equipped with LED lighting in the truck bed, Keyless Go entry and rain sensing wipers.
For the 2017 model year, the aggressive Ram Rebel model will get a few extra interior features that add a touch of luxury. For extra convenience, all Ram Rebel models will be equipped with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a rearview backup camera, remote start and rear park assist.
Additionally, Ram is rolling out a special-edition Night Edition appearance package to the Ram 1500 lineup. This new package gives the Ram 1500 sharp, dark and factory-inspired look that is reminiscent of the Ram 1500 Black Express. The package includes blacked-out features, including all-black rims, grille and badging. The truck will also have black light bezels on the headlamps and taillights. (more…)
