Only a few years ago, the midsize pickup segment was starting to feel like a bit of a cemetery. Nowadays new midsize pickup options, such as the Jeep Gladiator and the GMC Canyon, have helped revive interest in the segment. Other truck makers are poised for a comeback with Ford announcing the return of the Ranger, while Toyota updates the Tacoma, but what’s left for Ram Trucks who has a gap in its lineup? Ram 1500 Classic Doesn’t Miss a Beat

Like we’ve mentioned before, yes, Ram does have a midsize pickup coming, though its exact arrival date is unknown for the time being. In the meantime, Ram is hoping to provide buyers with a similar option with its Ram 1500 Classic pickup. Although the Ram 1500 Classic is a full-size pickup, it is essentially priced in the midsize range thanks to the introduction of the all-new 2019 Ram 1500. Ram hasn’t announced when it plans to officially phase out the Ram 1500 Classic, but it’s likely that the upcoming midsize pickup will be its replacement in the distant future. (more…)

FCA Confirms Midsize Ram Truck in the Near Future

Although Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has declined to comment on recent rumors that have been making the rounds, it appears that there was some truth to one of them. According to Automotive News, Ram is, in fact, considering entering the midsize pickup market. When Jeep introduced its Gladiator midsize pickup, people pretty much assumed that this would be FCA’s only foray into the segment, but according to FCA CEO Mike Manley, nothing could be further from the truth.
