The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX is Unstoppable

Friday, April 15th, 2022

The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX is unlike any Ram pickup truck ever seen before. The 3 and a half-ton pickup truck has the capability and versatility to take on any terrain. Ram has always been known for its tough trucks, but with the 2022 Ram TRX, the automaker has really stepped it up. Just last year the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX received the Texas Truck of the Year award. Now for the 2022 model year, the Ram TRX brings even greater performance. Ram has been working on bringing its all-new all-electric 2024 Ram EV to the market, but it’s good to see the automaker constantly upping the ante. We’ll take a look at the powerful 2022 Ram 1500 TRX and see what gives it its unstoppable performance.

2022 Ram 1500 TRX Is Unlike Any Other

The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX arrives with a powerful 702 horsepower 6.2L supercharged V8 engine. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the large pickup is capable of going 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. For a pickup truck, that is almost unheard of. The pickup also comes with easy-to-use controls and a four-wheel-drive system. For those wanting something unstoppable, the Ram TRX is it. The 2022 1500 Ram TRX starts at an MSRP of $78,675 (plus destination fee), but given the power and performance, it may be well worth it.

The 2022 Ram 1500 TRX is quite large. The pickup’s dimensions are 19.4 feet long, 7.3 feet wide, and 6.7 feet tall. Owners will enjoy a high-seated position as they traverse cities, highways, and anywhere they decide to travel. With 11.8 inches of ground clearance and 35-inch all-terrain tires, the pickup can go over all types of terrain. The suspension makes sure of this too as it has been tuned for high-speed and off-road performance.

Those looking inside the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX will note an interior that resembles the base Ram 1500. The TRX trim does indulge in luxury however with some Alcantara material, TRX badging, and a carbon fiber upholstery. Owners can also make use of a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also a wireless charging port that can be paired with smartphones. The Ram TRX offers a lot. With so much performance stacked in one pickup truck, the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX really does seem to be unstoppable.

Is there a Ram 1200 in the Works?

Friday, March 25th, 2022

As of late, Ram has been focusing on EVs, specifically the 2024 Ram EV. The all-electric pickup has a later release date compared to other EV pickups, but due to this timeframe, Ram has been eager to outfit the Ram EV with only the best features and capabilities. One of these is a range extender. We’ll have to stay posted for more information, but there are high hopes for the EV pickup. In other news, a rumor was recently released that Stellantis (parent company of Ram) may be working on a smaller gasoline pickup, a Ram 1200. This midsize pickup will rival the Ford ranger and, according to rumors, it may be equipped with a hybrid powertrain, similar to the Ford Maverick. We’ll dive into these rumors, but if there’s any merit to them, this could be great news for Ram.

Potential Ram 1200 in the Works

According to recent rumors, Stellantis has started work on a mid-size pickup truck to rival the Ford Ranger and Maverick. Stellantis has not yet commented on these rumors, but supposedly there’s a Ram 1200 in the works. If this is true, the automaker could see a huge boon to its sales as a smaller pickup could appeal to those consumers who are interested in a pickup, but who have otherwise no experience with a full-size one like the 2022 Ram 1500

According to the rumors, the Ram 1200 would come equipped with hybrid technology. Given the current EV wave, a hybrid pickup would appeal to those looking to reduce carbon emissions. This would also pose a direct competitor to the Ford Maverick which also uses a hybrid powertrain. In terms of engines, the Ram 1200 is slated to feature two choices, gas or diesel. The diesel engine would be a 2.0L four-cylinder capable of 160 horsepower and 148lb-ft of torque. There may also be a turbodiesel capable of 203 horsepower and 325lb-ft of torque.

If a Ram 1200 is in the works, it would most likely utilize Stellantis’ small wide 4×4 platform. Four-wheel drive would also be standard. This is still speculation of course, but if Stellantis does go ahead with the smaller Ram pickup, it will surely lead to a boost in overall sales. This is especially true if the automaker makes it a hybrid setup. For now, we’ll be staying tuned for more information.

Ram Shares More About Upcoming Ram EV

Friday, March 11th, 2022

As of late, Ram has been busy teasing the upcoming all-electric Ram EV. The automaker has teased the name Ram Revolution, but besides the fitting name, there has not been much information about the automaker’s first EV. We do know that the electric Ram pickup is slated for a 2024 release date. We also know that Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares has stated that the Ram EV will feature powerful capabilities and an impressive battery range. Given the long road ahead, Ram can really focus on the essentials of what constitutes a Ram EV. Stellantis has also been investing in software development, so it’s likely this will make its way into the pickup. Tavares recently spoke recently about his visions for the electric pickup, so we’ll go over them and what that means for those looking forward to the 2024 Ram EV.

Stellantis CEO Speaks on Ram EV Vision

In the midst of a zero-carbon emission revolution, many automakers have been considering how they can best present their own version of an electric vehicle. Although best known for their gas-powered Ram 1500, faced with the goal of reducing global emissions, Ram has decided to take all that they know about pickup trucks, and create the perfect EV pickup. Thus is born the Ram EV, or Ram Revolution (we like the latter).

Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares recently spoke about the Ram EV in Amsterdam. Tavares showcased the outline of the Ram EV and presented the vision his team was working toward. Sketches of the upcoming EV pickup showed the Ram EV with modern and sleek aerodynamic lines. On the tailgate, the words Ram could be seen in the center with red lights sprawling along the sides and across the top. Tavares said that although the Ram EV will be arriving late to the market, its performance packages along with its time to charge and battery range would make up for the tardiness.

Not much is currently known about the 2024 Ram EV, but from what we’ve heard it promises to be strong and competitive. Based on the sketches, it seems like the electric pickup will resemble the Silverado EV with a futuristic design rather than the conventional truck design seen with the F-150 Lightning. Ram has also promised to equip the Ram EV with a range extender, so we’ll have to stay tuned to learn all about the all-electric pickup.

Ram 1500 EV to Feature a Range Extender

Friday, March 4th, 2022

Ram has been in the news for its upcoming all-electric 2024 Ram 1500 EV. Like many automakers, Ram has been working on its own electric vehicles. Ram has touted its Ram 1500 EV as the next level of EV pickups. Although competitors like Ford and Tesla have revealed their own electric pickups, Ram has the advantage of making adjustments based on consumer sentiment and feedback. The latest news regarding the electric pickup is that the Ram 1500 EV will feature a range extender. The electric pickup is set to debut in 2024, but for now, we’ll discuss the impact that such a feature could have on the overall pickup sector.

Ram EV May Feature a Range Extender

The Ram 1500 EV is set to debut in 2024. Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. has been speaking on the upcoming capabilities and specifications of the electric pickup. One of these is the addition of a range extender. Since 2024 is a few years away, Ram has the luxury of committing to higher performance standards and more driver-assist features than other competitors. If Ram can figure out a way to implement its range extender, it will greatly boost the automaker’s credibility as a top automaker.

The addition of a range extender, especially a combustion engine which is par the course for the feature, will make the Ram EV a plug-in hybrid. Automakers like Mazda have been experimenting with this PHEV system like with their electric MX-30. The electric SUV has a paltry amount of battery range (100 miles), so a range extender is almost a necessity. With the Ram EV however, Ram has stated its electric pickup will feature an impressive 400 miles of battery range. As a reminder, Ram has the luxury of boasting the best of the best in terms of capabilities due to its extended time frame. Despite this luxury, if Ram can make good on its promises, competitors like Ford and Tesla will have to follow suit.

Koval Jr. did not speak more on the range extender, but the addition would allow the Ram EV to boast more versatility and capability than its competitors. One of the largest concerns about EVs is the range. The average battery range is around 230 miles, so incorporating a range extender would bring in more consumers who see the current range estimates as obstacles. We’ll have to stay tuned for more information, but here’s hoping the Ram EV measures up to its expected 400 miles of battery range.

The Ram 1500 has served as a powerful and fully capable pickup capable of getting almost any job done. Now Ram will use its powerful pickup to help out those who give so much. We’ll dive in and see what first responders can expect from these pickups, but this is great recognition on Ram’s part.

Ram ‘Built to Serve’ Lineup Announced

Ram will be rolling out its all-new ‘Built to Serve’ lineup inspired by first responders. The pickup trucks will consist of materials and features that aid first responders like police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel. Ram has decided to honor those individuals who are always giving to others. These trucks will recognize their hard work and sacrifice to keep the general public safe and protected. About the new ‘Built to Serve’ lineup, Ram brand CEO Mike Koval Jr. said,

“After honoring each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces with our initial Built to Serve models, we felt it would be equally important to also extend our gratitude to all first responders who serve or have served our communities,” said Mike Koval Jr. “Whether a first responder or civilian, Ram truck owners are very familiar with this adage as it’s something we strive to build into every truck and van we produce.”

Each truck in the ‘Built to Serve’ lineup will consist of a specialized trim geared toward the corresponding first responder department. They will come equipped with unique low-volume exterior paint colors that represent the MO and history of the pertaining department. The firefighter-inspired Ram 1500 Built to Serve edition will come available in Redline and Diamond Black exterior colors with a black interior and orange accent stitching.

‘Built to Serve’ Interior

Ram’s Built to Serve lineup will consist of unique exterior and interior features that represent each individual first responder department. The Ram 1500 Built to Serve trucks will feature a United States flag and a Built to Serve decal on each of the rear quarter panels. The truck’s exterior will also consist of an all-black grille with black bumpers, black-bezel premium lightning, and 20-inch aluminum wheels with a unique Technical Gray finish.

Inside the Built to Serve trucks, first responders will note unique color stitching that matches the pertaining emergency service. The first installment will feature orange accent stitching but the following will match the particular department. The trucks will also feature Built to Serve-embroidered velcro panels on the front seats. There’s also velcro on the front seat inboard shoulder panel. This is for patches, tapes, and any special memorabilia special to the corresponding first responders. The front seat-back panels will also be covered with Pouch Attachment Laddy System/Modular Lightweight Load-bearing Equipment webbing to allow for special equipment.

Ram’s ‘Built to Serve’ lineup will start at an MSRP of $46,625 (plus destination fee). The first installment will be the firefighter-inspired Ram 1500. These Built to Serve trucks will honor the three main emergency services for all their work. They will recognize and honor police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical service providers.

The Ram 2500 is One of the Best Heavy-Duty Pickups of 2022

Friday, January 14th, 2022
2022-ram-2500

Ram has received a lot of praise for its 2022 Ram 1500. The light-duty pickup has made headlines given its capability, toughness, and high-quality interior. Ram has been steadily improving its pickup lineup, but one that isn’t discussed as much is the Ram 2500. The 2022 Ram 2500 is a powerful pickup that increases performance and capability. Thanks to its potent engine variants, this pickup offers consumers impressive towing capacity. It also features a luxurious interior and the latest safety features. Given all this, the 2022 Ram 2500 serves as one of the best heavy-duty pickup trucks of 2022. We’ll dive in further to discover just why the Ram 2500 is so great.

Performance

The 2022 Ram 2500 comes available with two engine choices: a 6.4L Hemi V8 and a 6.7L Hemi turbo diesel I6 engine. The 6.4L comes standard and is capable of 410 horsepower and 420lb-ft of torque. The 6.7L is optional and is capable of 370 horsepower and 850lb-ft of torque. For the consumer who needs the best-in-class horsepower and torque, there’s no other choice like the Ram 2500. The Hemi V8 pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission that is precise. It offers 17,540 pounds of towing capability and 4,010 pounds of payload.

Equipped with the diesel I6, Ram 2500 owners can expect up to 20,000 pounds of towing capacity and 3,160 pounds of payload. This turbo-diesel engine utilizes a multirange 6-speed automatic transmission that features optimized gear ratios. Depending on their needs, a Ram 2500 owner can opt for the V8 or I6. If acceleration is more important than towing capacity, the V8 may be the most optimal choice. This full range of capability is what makes the 2022 Ram 2500 so versatile.

Interior

Aside from the performance and capability of the 2022 Ram 2500, the pickup also offers a comfortable and luxurious interior cabin. Owners will note a 900-watt Premium Audio system that plays through 17 high-quality speakers. With acoustic glass and active noise cancellation, listening to music becomes a studio experience. There’s also a huge touchscreen at the center of the dashboard. It features a user-friendly menu that’s compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

For safety, the Ram 2500 offers adaptive forward lighting, 15-degree turning headlights, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system. There’s also front and rear park assist, lane departure warnings, and forward-collision warnings.

The 2022 Ram 2500 starts at $37,050 (plus destination fee). There are several trims that scale in price and features. The highest trim, the 2500 Limited, comes in at $64,985 (plus destination fee). For consumers looking for a relatively affordable and powerful pickup, the 2022 Ram 2500 serves as the optimal choice.

Comparing the 2022 Ram 1500 vs the 2021 Ford F-150, Which has the Nicer Interior?

Friday, January 7th, 2022

The 2022 Ram 1500 has been receiving high praise and attention for its capability, versatility, and overall toughness. The 2021 Ford F-150 has also received similar praise for its ability to get just about any job done. Both pickups are similar in capability and when comparing them, the decision between both really comes down to preference. One factor that hasn’t been compared however is the interior cabin. We’ll be looking at both pickups and comparing the interior to see which has better features and overall comfort. For this comparison, we’ll be using the Limited trim as features and aesthetics can change depending on trim level.

2022 Ram 1500 Limited

The 2022 Ram 1500 Limited is one of the better light-duty pickup trucks available. It offers a lot in terms of capability and versatility. As far as the interior goes, it offers a rather luxurious aesthetic with upscale material. The Ram 1500 has a similar level of leather quality as the F-150, but the interior features rich details and trims. The pickup offers quilted door panels and A-pillar grab handles. The center dash does have a lower grade chrome, but attention to detail is carried throughout the pickup.

The Ram 1500 comes equipped with analog gauges around a central information screen. The gauges feature a 3D appearance and the center of the dashboard has a vertical 12-inch touchscreen. The graphics are high-quality, but they aren’t the most responsive. The front center console is large, similar to the F-150, but it has a configurable aspect ratio along with a sliding section. As far as the rear seating area goes, the Ram has a comfortable amount of room. There’s an adjustable rear bench seat with a reclining backrest. The rear seats are also heated and ventilated.

2021 Ford F-150 Limited

The 2021 Ford F-150 is a very capable pickup. The F-150 is one of the most popular trucks and there’s a reason for that. One quality that isn’t mentioned much, however, is the interior. The Ford F-150 features a relatively decent interior cabin. There’s high-quality leather upholstery with carbon-fiber accents and a suede headliner. The quality can diminish with hard-plastic elements near the front-seat cushion and below, however. The A-pillar grab handles do not differ much from lower trimmed F-150s, but they serve their purpose. The pickup features an intuitive dashboard with a 12-inch touchscreen. This features easily accessible buttons and knobs for the audio and climate controls.

Looking at the rear seating area, the Ford F-150 features a spacious rear bench seat with plenty of legroom. The rear-seat cushion is a bit short though. Like the Ram 1500, the rear seats are heated but they are not ventilated.

Verdict

Both the 2022 Ram 1500 Limited and 2021 Ford F-150 Limited are luxury trucks capable of a lot. They both offer consumers a high-quality interior with upscale materials. The F-150 offers premium amenities, but compared to the Ram 1500, the Ram pulls ahead given its high-scale upholstery and more comfortable backseat.

Is a New Turbo Six-Cylinder Engine in the Works?

Thursday, December 30th, 2021
ram-longhorn

Ram has been enjoying the view from atop its throne. Throughout the year the automaker has been making headlines with its Ram 1500. Given the capability, durability, and overall ability to get almost any job done, the Ram pickup has rightfully earned its accolades. Some of these include the best light-duty pickup and the Texas Truck of the Year. Now it seems the parent company Stellantis will be aiming for even more recognition. The parent company recently announced its new investment in software. We’ll have to wait for more information to confirm the path Stellantis will take, but given a recent press release, we know Stellantis is working on a new engine. According to the release, Stellantis has a 3.0L GMET6 H0 engine listed on its product list. This leads us to believe that the automaker will launch a new competitive engine that may make its way into vehicles like Ram, Jeep, or Dodge. We’ll dive a bit further, but this bears great news for the automaker.

New 3.0L H0 Engine in the Works?

According to a recent Stellantis news release, the automaker is working on a new 3.0L turbocharged six-cylinder engine nicknamed the Tornado. The new engine showed up on the product list, but since writing, Stellantis updated the press release to remove any indication of the engine. This may be a way to garner more interest and hype, but from what we’ve already seen, the new engine went into production on November 22, 2021. The 3.0L GMET6 HO engine will certainly increase the performance of vehicles like the Ram, Jeep, and Dodge. We’ll have to wait for confirmation from Stellantis, but this is exciting news.

The new 3.0L turbocharged engine uses the acronym GMET6 which stands for ‘Global Medium Engine Turbo 6’. We don’t have much information yet, but looking at the patent applications and figures, it seems this new engine will be a straight-6 orientation gasoline-powered engine. It will have a 3.0L displacement but we’re still not sure of the power figures. The HO designation may leave clues, however. Most likely it stands for high-output. If this engine was designed for the Ram 1500 or Jeep Grand Cherokee, it will need a lot of power–about 400 horsepower and 500lb-ft of torque. This benchmark has been set by Ford’s EcoBoost 3.5L twin-turbo V6 so Stellantis will have to play catch up or offer something even better.

There were other engines mentioned in Stellantis’ press release. These included an upgraded 3.6L Pentastar V6 as well as a PHEV version. These bode very well for the automaker, but we’ll have to keep our eyes and ears open for more information. The good news is that Ram may further solidify its status as a top pickup with this new engine upgrade. Of course, only time will tell.

Some of the Best Ram 1500 Mopar Parts and Accessories

Thursday, December 23rd, 2021
Ram 1500 TRX

Ram has been enjoying praise for its pickup all across the country. The 2022 Ram 1500 has been recognized as a top-performing pickup truck that is capable, durable, and practical. The pickup was recently recognized as the Top Truck of Texas as well as the top light-duty pickup in a 2021 APEAL Study. Ram has also been working on high-performance trims like the Ram 1500 TRX. Given the quality and high-performance standards of the Ram 1500, we thought we’d take a look at some of the best accessories for the pickup, courtesy of Mopar. These are accessories and parts that enhance the pickup’s capabilities. Some are mere convenience features, but overall they’re a great selection that any Ram owner would be happy to own.

Mopar Accessories and Parts

  1. Beadlock Capable Wheels

One of the first Mopar parts that would be a great addition to the Ram 1500 is bead-lock capable wheels. These wheels help complete the off-road performance package by increasing the capability and ability of the pickup to better handle off-road terrain. Though it is illegal to drive on public roads with bead-locks on, when going off-road, these wheels help keep the tire attached when air pressure is lowered. This lowered tire pressure can open the way for hazards or debris which can cause the bead to disconnect from the wheel. With these wheels, however, the locking rings keep the bead locked to prevent any accidents.

  1. Heavy Duty Rubber Floor Mats

Another great accessory from Mopar is heavy-duty rubber floor mats. These mats help protect the interior of the Ram 1500 from dirt, debris, and mud. The mats work very well and they provide excellent coverage around the entire cab. They also contour well with the transmission tunnel and floorboards. The rear floor mats also contour well. If going off-roading is a regular thing, Ram 1500 owners will love these protective floor mats.

  1. Rambar with LED Lights

The Ram 1500 gets a sporty look with the Rambar LED lights. The Rambar is easily mounted and it makes it easier to see at night with the lights attached. The Rambar doesn’t work with the in-bed storage compartments so owners should take this into consideration. The lights are for off-road use only, but they’re very bright so they’re perfect for lighting up a trail.

  1. Mopar Performance Intake and Exhaust

The next accessory that comes from Mopar is performance intake and exhaust components. Now, these don’t necessarily improve any of the Ram 1500’s capabilities or fuel-efficiency, but they do enhance the sound of the 5.7L HEMI V8 engine. These components aren’t obnoxiously loud so the neighbors won’t complain too much. There’s also little drone on the highway so these make a great addition purely for the sound quality.

  1. Mopar Cargo Bed Light Kit

One more great accessory for the Ram 1500 is the Mopar cargo bed light kit. This helps owners immensely when they’re searching their truck bed either at night or in poor visibility. The light does away with a need for a flashlight or a smartphone light. The bed light kit may not be the coolest accessory, but it’s surely a practical one.
