For the moment, the 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 is still the only light duty, yet full size pickup truck on the market.

Available as a regular, extended or “Quad Cab,” or crew cab, the 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 runs across six principal trim levels: the Tradesman, Express, HFE, SLT, Sport, and Laramie.

The standard drivetrain option comes from the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which is able to produce 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque, and is operated by an eight-speed automatic transmission, which is actually designed as a rotary knob, rather than a conventional gear shifter.

For an extra boost, opt for the 5.7-liter Hemi engine drivetrain, measured at 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque.

Equipped with the 3.0-liter turbocharged EcoDiesel V6 engine, the Ram 1500 generates 240 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,000 rpm, paired exclusively to the eight-speed automatic transmission, which makes this truck ideal for tackling tough tasks that require towing or hauling.

This is the configuration you’ll want if fuel efficiency is at all a concern to you. Thanks to the EcoDiesel option, available on all trims, with the exception of the Express and Sport models, fuel economy is EPA-estimated at 20 city, 28 highway, and 23 mpg combined from the two-wheel drive set up and 19 city, 27 highway, and 22 mpg combined from the four-wheel drive.

As far as the “best-in-class” distinction, that goes to the HFE EcoDiesel, which boasts fuel efficiency measured at 21 city, 29 highway, and 24 mpg combined.

Safety remains a principal concern for Dodge Ram, just as much as driver-centric performance. To that end, the 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks are fully supported by a variety of active and passive safety features, including anti-lock brakes, hill-start assist, front-seat side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags, to name but a few.

Test drive a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 at Miami Lakes Auto Mall Dodge Ram today and see how fun it is to be fuel-efficient.
