Ram 1500 TRX

Ram has been enjoying praise for its pickup all across the country. The 2022 Ram 1500 has been recognized as a top-performing pickup truck that is capable, durable, and practical. The pickup was recently recognized as the Top Truck of Texas as well as the top light-duty pickup in a 2021 APEAL Study. Ram has also been working on high-performance trims like the Ram 1500 TRX. Given the quality and high-performance standards of the Ram 1500, we thought we’d take a look at some of the best accessories for the pickup, courtesy of Mopar. These are accessories and parts that enhance the pickup’s capabilities. Some are mere convenience features, but overall they’re a great selection that any Ram owner would be happy to own.

Mopar Accessories and Parts

  1. Beadlock Capable Wheels

One of the first Mopar parts that would be a great addition to the Ram 1500 is bead-lock capable wheels. These wheels help complete the off-road performance package by increasing the capability and ability of the pickup to better handle off-road terrain. Though it is illegal to drive on public roads with bead-locks on, when going off-road, these wheels help keep the tire attached when air pressure is lowered. This lowered tire pressure can open the way for hazards or debris which can cause the bead to disconnect from the wheel. With these wheels, however, the locking rings keep the bead locked to prevent any accidents.

  1. Heavy Duty Rubber Floor Mats

Another great accessory from Mopar is heavy-duty rubber floor mats. These mats help protect the interior of the Ram 1500 from dirt, debris, and mud. The mats work very well and they provide excellent coverage around the entire cab. They also contour well with the transmission tunnel and floorboards. The rear floor mats also contour well. If going off-roading is a regular thing, Ram 1500 owners will love these protective floor mats.

  1. Rambar with LED Lights

The Ram 1500 gets a sporty look with the Rambar LED lights. The Rambar is easily mounted and it makes it easier to see at night with the lights attached. The Rambar doesn’t work with the in-bed storage compartments so owners should take this into consideration. The lights are for off-road use only, but they’re very bright so they’re perfect for lighting up a trail.

  1. Mopar Performance Intake and Exhaust

The next accessory that comes from Mopar is performance intake and exhaust components. Now, these don’t necessarily improve any of the Ram 1500’s capabilities or fuel-efficiency, but they do enhance the sound of the 5.7L HEMI V8 engine. These components aren’t obnoxiously loud so the neighbors won’t complain too much. There’s also little drone on the highway so these make a great addition purely for the sound quality.

  1. Mopar Cargo Bed Light Kit

One more great accessory for the Ram 1500 is the Mopar cargo bed light kit. This helps owners immensely when they’re searching their truck bed either at night or in poor visibility. The light does away with a need for a flashlight or a smartphone light. The bed light kit may not be the coolest accessory, but it’s surely a practical one.

Stellantis Looking to Invest in Software Development

Tuesday, December 14th, 2021

Stellantis will be focusing its efforts on software development and subscription services. The automaker conglomerate who owns Ram, Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler will be following in the footsteps of other automakers with services like navigation and entertainment. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares recently spoke during Stellantis’ Software Day event. There, Tavares outlined Stellantis’ future plans concerning connectivity and electric and autonomous vehicles. According to Tavares, Stellantis plans to invest about $34 billion to speed up its software and electrification development through 2025. There have been rumors about an electric Ram pickup in the works, but this investment will boost Stellantis’ capacities. The automaker wants to have 34 million vehicles that are connected and able to receive over-the-air updates by 2030.

Stellantis Eyeing New Development and Software

Stellantis is aiming for a revamp of its software services. During a Software Day event, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares spoke about the company’s future plans. Stellantis wants to invest $34 billion to speed up its software and electrification development. The automaker wants to increase their growth by hiring new software engineers. The goal is to have 4,500 software engineers globally by 2024. Stellantis also plans to build a software academy so that the company can continue to update training and also retrain those already working for the company. About their efforts, Tavares said,

“Our electrification and software strategies will support the shift to become a sustainable mobility tech company to lead the pack, leveraging the associated business growth with over-the-air features and services and delivering the best experience to our customers,” said Carlos Tavares. “With the three all-new, AI-powered, technology platforms to arrive in 2024, deployed across the four STLA vehicle platforms, we will leverage the speed and agility associated with the decoupling of hardware and software cycles.”

Stellantis has high hopes for the future. The company wants to invest in three new AI-powered platforms that will be used in 2024. These are called STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit, and STLA AutoDrive. These platforms are expected to transform how drivers connect with vehicles.

New Partnerships and Improved Connectivity

Stellantis will also be partnering with several companies including BMW, Foxconn, and Waymo. These new partnerships will help the automaker accelerate its investments into autonomous vehicles and connectivity. What this means is that consumers will have more conveniences than ever before. Improving connectivity will enable over-the-air updates which can consistently update vehicle software like fuel mileage or even horsepower. This saves both the driver and the company money and time as they won’t have to come in for service.

Stellantis’ new platforms will also make AI-based applications like navigation, voice assistance, and subscription services easier and more manageable. Entertainment will also improve as parents will have greater access to the latest movies to keep their children entertained during long drives. Stellantis wants to improve how drivers interact with their vehicles. This step toward software development will launch the company into a higher echelon. We’ll have to see where Stellantis goes from here, but their future is certainly looking bright.

ram-trx-ignition

Ram will be updating several vehicles within its lineup for the 2022 model year. The automaker has been on a roll lately with several of its vehicles receiving awards. For one, the 2021 Ram 1500 was rated first among light-duty pickups in a 2021 APEAL Study. The Ram 1500 TRX was also recognized as the Texas Truck of the Year. Ram has been steadily producing pickups and vehicles that outclass the competition. The automaker will now be updating its lineup with new technology like Stellantis’ Uconnect 5 infotainment system as well as some minor exterior style changes. There will also be new color schemes to choose from. We’ll dive into the specific changes, but it looks like Ram will continue to reign on top throughout 2022.

Changes to the 2022 Ram 1500

Ram will be making several changes to the 2022 Ram 1500. One of these is the inclusion of the all-new Uconnect 5 infotainment system provided by Stellantis. This system will be able to be used with the standard 8.4-inch touchscreen. It offers wireless smartphone connectivity as well as off-road and performance pages. It will also be used for over-the-air updates. Other updates to the 2022 Ram 1500 include a standard Ram Clean Air filtration system, a trailer hitch light, and new colors like Harvest Sunrise and Delmonico Red.

Ram will also be rebranding certain trims like the Limited 10th Anniversary Edition. The automaker will use 2021’s Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary trim as 2022’s Longhorn SouthFork trim. It will offer standard features like a multi-function tailgate, a deployable step bed, and a Bed Utility package.

Changes to the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX

Ram will be making slight changes to the TRX. The automaker recently released the Ram 1500 TRX Ignition edition so it already comes equipped with upgraded performance, technology, and design attributes. Ram will be adding the TRX Level 2 equipment group as standard to the TRX Ignition. Ram will also make the 6.2L supercharged Hemi V8 available.

Changes to the 2022 Ram 2500/3500

Ram will be adding the color scheme ‘Harvest Sunrise’ for its heavier duty pickups. The 2500/3500 models will also come standard with an 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment screen. A 12-inch system will also be available. The Big Horn trim will receive an updated grille design and heavy-duty Limited trims with black interiors will be accompanied by a Black Onyx finish. One additional change is that the Trailer Tow package will include a hitch light and the tow mode will be available with a digital rearview mirror.

Changes to the 2022 Ram ProMaster

Ram will be upgrading their commercial 2022 Ram ProMaster van with a new drivetrain, a new driver information display, and the next-generation Uconnect infotainment system. Ram will also include additional safety features like retuned steering. For its engine, the ProMaster’s 3.6L V6 will come mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Inside, Ram has configured a new crew van setup that allows up to three passengers to fit in the second row. This adds an extra level of comfort to the commercial van.

A Look at the Ram 1500 TRX RexRunner Concept

Friday, November 19th, 2021

Ram saw a new concept vehicle revealed at the 2021 Speciality Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas. The Ram 1500 TRX RexRunner was unveiled by Mopar, the Stellantis parts, service, and customer care division. The SEMA Show is a collection of manufacturers and buyers from different segments of the automotive industry. Together they share new parts, accessories, and concept vehicles. Over the years the Ram 1500 has done exceptionally well. The pickup has been highly rated by the Texas Motor Press Association as the Texas Truck of the Year and it has also been awarded the Light-Duty Pickup of the Year in a recent 2021 APEAL study. Now the iconic Ram pickup will be getting a new concept, the Ram 1500 TRX RexRunner. We’ll dive into the new concept pickup and see what Mopar has to offer.

Ram 1500 TRX RexRunner Revealed

Mopar unveiled the Ram 1500 TRX RexRunner at the 2021 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The concept pickup is based on the Ram 1500 but it comes equipped with a layer of Mopar accessories and custom parts. These add an extra level of capability and durability. For its engine, the Ram TRX RexRunner comes equipped with a standard 6.2L Hemi V8 that’s capable of 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Providing the pickup its impressive ground clearance are 18×9-inch Black Rhino Chamber wheels wrapped in 37-inch Goodyear tires. These combined with the cool Ash Gray exterior finish and center stripe give the pickup a sporty look. The concept pickup also features TRX bedside graphics and the prominent Ram logo on the grille.

The Ram 1500 TRX RexRunner also features a RamBar that’s equipped with a pair of 14-inch TYRI rectangular LED lights. These LED lights are great for off-roading as they generate up to 4,300 lumens of light. At the rear, the truck gets a Mopar bed extender that flips inward. This helps with securing tools. There’s also a bed liner to protect cargo. Custom skid plates at the front help enhance the rough and rugged look of the pickup. They protect the truck’s underside and increase the approach angle up to 32.5 degrees while Mopar rock rails protect the side sills.

The TRX RexRunner also gets a custom black flip-top fuel-filler door that accentuates the truck’s toughness. Finally, the concept pickup features 5-inch Mopar exhausts in the rear as well as a Mopar bed step for easy access to the truck bed.

The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Strikes Again as the “Truck of the Year”

Tuesday, April 6th, 2021

Once again, the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX finds itself a “Truck of the Year” recipient. The Rocky Mountain Automotive Press (RMAP) deemed the new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX its “Truck of the Year.” All in all, especially as it begins rolling out across dealer lots, the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX remains the segment disruptor it was designed to be.

“There was some really great competition this year for ‘Truck of the Year’ in the Denver region. However, the Ram 1500 TRX was the run-away winner among the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press group of automotive journalists,” said RMAP President Craig Conover.  The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Strikes Again as the “Truck of the Year” (more…)
