Ram Plans All-New Mid-Size Pickup Concept

Ram is planning on debuting an all-new mid-size pickup truck in March. Having debuted its first all-electric Ram 1500 REV, many wonder if the new mid-size truck will also be electric. Ram has long since been a dominating brand in the truck segment. With competent and versatile trucks like the Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500, many competitors pale in comparison. The Ram 1500 REV is also looking to dominate the EV truck segment with its innovative design and powerful capabilities. Ram’s CEO Mike Koval Jr. recently stated that Ram will be showcasing a new concept truck and that it will gauge reactions to determine if it will release it to the public. While we do not have many details about the truck, we’ll take a closer look and see what consumers can expect.

Ram Will Introduce New Mid-Size Pickup Truck

Ram will be showcasing an all-new mid-size pickup truck in March. Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. said the model will be shown at a large dealer meeting. Based on the reactions it receives, the automaker will decide to go forward with the concept. Ram’s CEO provided no additional information about the mid-size truck, so details are scarce. Should the automaker produce a mid-size truck, it would fill a vacant slot in its current lineup. This could give the automaker a promising opportunity to take a more significant percentage of sales from competitors like Ford and Chevrolet.

Ram is eyeing innovations, as evidenced by its latest Ram 1500 REV. The electric pickup truck stunned consumers with its innovative design and unique features. The all-electric truck marks the first of many as Ram aims to fulfill its Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan. The green initiative aims to reduce global carbon emissions by using clean and innovative solutions. With this goal in mind, it’s still being determined if Ram will introduce an all-electric mid-size truck. The new truck could also be a hybrid variant.

The last time Ram offered a mid-size pickup truck was the Ram Dakota which was discontinued in 2011. Ram recently hinted that the mid-size truck may be making a comeback in 2024. The new concept truck set to debut in March could be the Ram Dakota. Since it’s been over a decade since it was discontinued, consumers can expect the Ram Dakota to arrive with more capability and power than its predecessor. We’re still determining if Ram will equip the 2024 Ram Dakota with a 3.6L V6 engine or give it a hybrid powertrain. Either way, seeing that Ram has something new in store is exciting. Until the official reveal, we’ll be staying tuned.

All-Electric Ram Will Be Called The Ram 1500 REV

Ram has officially confirmed the name for its first all-electric pickup truck, the Ram 1500 REV. The automaker toyed with several names, including Ram BEV and Ram Revolution, but the name that stuck was the short and simple Ram 1500 REV. Seemingly an abbreviation for revolution, the Ram 1500 REV symbolizes the all-electric pickup truck’s impact on the automotive industry. With its EV pickup truck, Ram wanted to redefine the truck segment by offering an all-new customer experience integrated with advanced technology. Based on the expected features and innovations, the electric pickup truck will do exactly that.

Ram Confirms EV Name: Ram 1500 REV

The all-new, all-electric Ram pickup truck has an official name, the Ram 1500 REV. Ram debuted its first electric truck at the 2023 Consumers Electronic Show. There, consumers got a firsthand look at the groundbreaking EV pickup. With the Ram 1500 REV, Ram wanted to redefine the truck segment by introducing a revolutionary truck that would combine a new customer experience with advanced technology. The automaker spent months leading up to the production of the truck touring the United States in an attempt to discover what truck enthusiasts would like to see in an EV truck. About the Ram Real Tour, Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr said,

“At Ram, we started a revolution last year as we invited consumers along on the beginning of our electrification journey, gathering their feedback on exactly what they are looking for in an electric pickup truck,” said Mike Koval Jr. “We look forward to delivering our first EV pickup – the all-new Ram 1500 REV – to those consumers next year. We are confident the Ram 1500 REV will push past the competition, offering what will be the leading combination of attributes customers care about the most: range, payload, towing, and charge time.”

The Ram 1500 REV is expected to provide an innovative and exciting experience. Riding on the Stellantis EV platform, the truck features an ultra-modern concept. The Ram 1500 BEV is both aggressive and elegant and styled with a fully animated LED fork design that reaches into the front bumper flares and the taillamps. The truck’s doors have also been designed with a saloon-style opening. Still functional as a pickup truck, the Ram EV offers a multi-function tailgate and powered side steps. Inside there’s a 28-inch two-screen display that can be rearranged. The center console can also be converted to a workstation surface. While details about performance have not been released, the Ram 1500 REV is expected to offer top-of-the-line towing and payload capacity. It’s also expected to feature a range extender.

Ram To Offer Autonomous Robot Charger With 2024 Ram BEV

Ram will introduce an autonomous robot charger for the all-new 2024 Ram Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). The all-electric pickup truck was recently revealed at the 2023 Consumers Electronic Show. Set to debut later this year, the Ram BEV is expected to lay the foundation for future Ram EVs. According to Ram, the Ram 1500 BEV will pave the way for its Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, which aims to reduce global carbon emissions by using clean and innovative solutions. After months of teasing, the 2024 Ram BEV exceeded expectations by offering a new customer experience integrated with advanced technology. This new autonomous charger is a part of that advanced technology, so we’ll take a closer look and see what consumers can expect.

2024 Ram BEV Will Feature Autonomous Robot Charger

Ram will introduce an autonomous robot that can charge the all-electric Ram BEV. First revealed at the 2023 Consumers Electronics Show, the 2024 Ram BEV is expected to lay the foundation for future Ram EVs. Many could get a firsthand look at the long-awaited electric pickup truck, which far exceeded expectations. Riding on the Stellantis EV platform, the Ram BEV features an ultra-modern concept with an aggressive but elegant design. The pickup truck is expected to offer advanced features like a 360-degree camera, Level 3 autonomous capabilities, and an interior track rail attachment system. The Ram BEV will also likely offer a shadow mode feature that allows the truck to follow owners around.

As for the autonomous robot charger, Ram has stated that the Ram Charger robot was created to enable hands-free recharging. The autonomous robot will reportedly find the owner’s Ram BEV and charge it for them. It will automatically detect the electric pickup truck and align itself underneath it to begin the charging process. The robot was designed to make home charging as easy as possible. While some would argue that charging an EV at home is not all that difficult, Ram’s goal here is to make its all-new Ram EV as accessible and user-friendly as possible.

EFI Automotive is developing the Ram Charger robot. The company has been working on the autonomous charger bot for the past five years. It’s expected to have a range of 5 to 10 meters and will be able to charge more than one EV at a time. The company has stated that the system will improve charging efficiency and utilize first-level communication with the vehicle. It will also be able to avoid any obstacles. The estimated arrival of the autonomous Ram charger is 2025, so it will arrive a year after the 2024 Ram BEV. Although it may seem somewhat silly for homeowners to use the charger, the practicality of the charger extends to larger companies with fleet vehicles. Companies like USPS or Amazon could benefit from Ram’s autonomous robot charger significantly.

Even With EVs, The Ram 1500 Is Not Going Anywhere

No, Ram Truck does not have any plans to stop selling its internal combustion engine Ram 1500 pickup truck. Many consumers and fans were able to get a glimpse of the automaker’s first all-electric vehicle at the 2023 Consumers Electronics Show. Called the Ram 1500 BEV, the all-electric pickup truck made a good impression as a powerful and innovative vehicle. With its first EV, Ram wanted to ensure that truck enthusiasts would have access to all the qualities and aspects that make internal combustion engine trucks so appealing. While Ram did not release all the details of the Ram battery-electric vehicle, it seems that that was a number one priority when creating the EV pickup. As more automakers look toward an EV future, some have feared that combustion engine vehicles might fade away. Ram is here to remedy that fear by guaranteeing that its highly acclaimed lineup will continue to offer both EVs and internal combustion engine vehicles.

Ram Will Continue to Sell ICE Pickup Trucks

Ram fans have nothing to fear as the highly capable and versatile pickup combustion engine truck is here to stay. The automaker recently unveiled its all-new all-electric Ram 1500 BEV which took many by surprise with its ingenuity. While Ram is known for its reliable and capable pickup trucks, many were curious as to how an electric Ram truck would look and function. In preparing for the Ram 1500 BEV, Ram made sure to gather as much information as possible. This included touring the United States in what the automaker called the Ram Real Talk tour. This tour consisted of conversations with truck owners to gauge their opinion on their ideal electric pickup truck. About the information gathered, Ram Mike Koval Jr. said,

“The conclusion from all of that feedback, which was invaluable, was this: We are open-minded to the idea of heavy electrification in the pickup truck segment, but trucks still need to do truck things,” said Mike Koval Jr. “Do not sacrifice or compromise on the core attributes that we find the most valuable, which are payload, towing, range, and charge time.”

Based on the feedback Ram received, it seems that an EV pickup truck was not entirely off the table for consumers. Instead, truck owners and enthusiasts wanted to see a dedicated truck rather than an electric gimmick. With the Ram 1500 BEV, it seems all the key areas were given top priority. While not all the details have been released, the Ram 1500 BEV is expected to offer top-of-the-line towing and payload capacity. It’s also expected to feature a range extender for increased battery range. For now, Ram will continue to make improvements to its EV truck until its release later in the year. In the meantime, the automaker has stated that it will not stop offering its iconic internal combustion engine truck, but will focus on offering both EVs and ICEs.
