Two Ram 1500 Versions Sold At Dealers – Which Is Which?

“Out with the old and in with the new” – or in Rams case, in with the old and in with the new. What Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is now referring to as the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic actually launched back in 2012. While gradual improvements were made to the Ram over the years, surprisingly the basic design has actually been on the market for the past six years.

“As we launch the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, we didn’t want to walk away from a key part of the light-duty truck market,” explains Mike Manley, head of Ram Brand — FCA. “Ram will continue to produce the 1500 Classic targeted at entry and commercial buyers.”

The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic will feature three cabs and three bed lengths, plus 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains. Available engine options include a standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and an optional 5.7-liter V8 engine. Later on this year, a 3.0-liter V6 engine will be available as well. Lastly, a new “Classic” badge will be the cherry on the Ram cake and will set it apart from the rest. Pricing for the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic has yet to be announced, however, it will be sold simultaneously with the next-generation 2019 Ram 1500 – its replacement. Consumers can expect pricing towards the fourth-quarter launch of the truck.

For those consumers interested in a more economical option, the 2019 Ram 1500 is the perfect choice. For the 2019 model year, the Ram 1500 will be available in two flavors – 4×2 and 4×4. The Ram 1500 will also be available in four trim levels – Tradesman, Express, Big Horn/Lone Star, and Special Services Vehicle (SSV). The standard engine is a 3.6-liter V6 24-valve (that generates 305 hp and 269 lb-ft torque) and an optional 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine (that generates 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. The V6 and V8 engines are paired to an eight-speed 850RE automatic transmission, with the V6 able to opt-in for an eight-speed 8HP75 transmission. The interior cabin has also been enhanced, and one of the most popular optional upgrades is the 12-inch touchscreen display. Also, there are five USB ports in the center console and a wider docking area available for optional wireless charging of a small tablet, 15-inch laptop, or smartphone.

However, besides the amazing features included, the 2019 Ram 1500 is actually longer, lighter, and wider than the Ram 1500 Classic. Depending on the body style, the 2019 Ram 1500 wheelbase and cab increase by 4-inches and the truck itself is 0.5-inches wider. Additionally, if consumers prefer the popular crew cab 4×4 variant, they might notice a change in the weight of the truck – 225 lbs to be exact. Not to worry, other versions have also dropped a few pounds as well.

When asked about the potential confusion that consumers may have between the Ram 1500 and Ram 1500 Classic, head of Ram Brand FCA-North America, Jim Morrison had this to say, “One of the things that clearly delineates it is the new trucks all have the new body style and the R – A – M grilles,” he said. “The old trucks are the old body style with the crosshair grille, so at 50 feet you can tell them apart.”

As previously mentioned, pricing for the 2019 Ram 1500 Classic has not been announced so follow us on social media for all the latest updates on everything Ram. Everything You Need To Know About Google’s Android Auto

android auto how to miami lakes ram

There seems to be a three-way-tug-of-war between Google, Apple, and car companies on who can take over your entertainment system the fastest. While most automotive companies prefer drivers use the standard infotainment included in the vehicle, rivaling techies offer a change of pace with a more intuitive and better packaged option – Google’s Android Auto.

So what exactly is Android Auto? Basically, it’s a way to encourage drivers to focus on the road by minimizing distractions. By taking the features Android users know and love, Android Auto puts them directly into the vehicles infotainment display. Pretty cool, huh? Not only that, the information is displayed on an easy-to-use interface that includes legible menus, large icons, and apps you can swipe out of the way. Another really cool feature is the Google Maps-powered navigation system. This feature provides a step-by-step GPS while automatically finding alternative routes if necessary. As part of the minimizing distractions premise, drivers aren’t required to manually type in their “home” or “work” address – if it’s saved, Android Auto has got you covered.

Additionally, all previously mentioned features respond to basic voice commands as well. Drivers can ask anything from “Hey Google, is it going to rain today?” to “Hey Google, what is Android Auto?” Drivers can also reply to text messages using the speech-to-text technology. Don’t have voice-recognition technology in your car? No big deal, Android Auto’s features are accessible using the touchscreen. However, keep in mind that once Android Auto is active, the smartphone’s screen will be locked. Lastly, specific apps like Pandora, iHeartRadio, Skype, WhatsApp, and Spotify are also included.

While most new cars are compatible with Android Auto, there are some manufacturers that charge consumers more for the feature and some that choose not to offer it even on the base trim levels. Some of those compatible vehicles include, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Kia, Maserati, Mitsubishi, and Ram. Interestingly enough, Hyundai, Kia and Chevy were actually one of the first companies to develop Android Auto-compatible cars back in 2015. Unfortunately, Toyota has continued to go against Android Auto for unknown reasons. Oh well!

For those consumers who have recently purchased an Android Auto compatible vehicle, you’ll need to connect your device. Here’s a step-by-step process to get your device up and running:

  • Make sure your phone is running the latest Android system and you’ve already downloaded the Android Auto app.
  • After turning on your car, plug-in your device using the USB port and review all the Safety Notice and Terms & Conditions
  • Allow Android Auto to access your device’s features and apps.
  • Once you see it on your vehicles display, select the Android Auto app, follow the instructions, and you’re all set!

…and please, drive responsibly.

And don’t forget! The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie trim features an incredible 12-inch touchscreen display that comes standard with Google Android Auto. Just imagine how amazing it will look, or the convenience of the split-screen feature to choose what music to listen to while keeping GPS navigation at the forefront. 2018 Ram Limited Tungsten Edition – Rugged Luxury

2018 ram tungsten edition miami lakes automall ram

We see it everyday – those typical truck commercials that usually put on a display of trucks cruising on a dirt road while hauling a load of equipment or towing a trailer. Well, that’s what trucks are commonly used for, duh! However, Ram changed things up a bit for the 2018 model year. The 2018 Ram Limited Tungsten Edition is the epitome of combining luxury and style into a solid work truck. Available in the Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 lineups, Ram made the initial announcement of their plans to add the Limited Tungsten Edition back in 2017. Considered by Ram to be the most luxurious package offered by the brand, the Ram Limited Tungsten Edition is fitted with all the bells and whistles one can think of when including a gorgeous interior cabin design with exceptional convenience and style.

“The Limited Tungsten Edition is the highest trim level Ram has made available…The new Tungsten Edition is an example of how Ram directly responds to customer input by offering the industry’s most luxurious pickup. Premium truck buyers will recognize the attention to detail, surrounded by quality materials.” – said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand, FCA – Global.

The 2018 Ram Limited Tungsten Edition really is a step above the rest offering consumers a premium level of sophistication. Featuring a shiny Tungsten Chrome on the wheels, grille, accents, and badging, the Tungsten Edition trim levels are also available in classic but bold colors. Some of those color options include Delmonico Red Pearl, Granite Crystal Metallic, Maximum Steel Metallic, and Pearl White. Additionally, the Tungsten’s chrome grille will feature “RAM” spelled out in huge letters. This branding will also be on the trucks tailgate. Some additional upgrades include black headlight frame, a sportier hood, body-painted bumpers, mirrors, and door handles.

Now for the interior cabin – boy, oh boy! Claimed as a segment-first, a Light Greystone suede headliner is probably one of most significant additions to the 2018 Ram Limited Tungsten Edition. Additionally, “Natura Plus” front and indigo-colored premium leather and carpeting are included with rubber floor mats and carpeted inserts that snap the floor, for added protection. One of the most exceptional enhancements featured on the 2018 Ram Limited Tungsten Edition is the-state-of-the-art entertainment system, which provides drivers and passengers with the ultimate listening experience. Equipped with an 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C touchscreen display system, this beauty also comes with smartphone integration and SiriusXM Guardian.

So why the name Tungsten? It’s actually a rare metal that has unique properties as well as an eye-catching shiny silver appearance. Out of all the metals, tungsten has not only the highest melting point, but it’s harder in comparison to most steels. As a result of it’s durability and resistance to heat, tungsten is often used in high energy industries, including the aerospace and automotive industries. Even though, tungsten that is found on trucks like the Ram isn’t necessarily pure, once the metal is combined with other metals, it increases their strength and it looks exceptionally amazing.

The 2018 Ram Limited Tungsten Edition package is expected to arrive by late winter of this year. Here at the Miami Lakes Ram, located in Miami, FL, we offer a huge selection of Ram trucks and vans.
