Mitsubishi Making Changes to the Lineup

Miami Lakes Auto Mitsubishi- Lineup

With Mitsubishi making a lot of changes and bringing new vehicles to their lineup since the Mitsubishi and Nissan-Renault partnership started, there’s a lot of talk of what’s to come. Mitsubishi is leaning towards crossovers and SUVs these days, and recently they discontinued the all-electric i-Miev. But with the expansion of Mitsubishi Motors across the world and in the auto market, there are some changes we can see happening to the current lineup. Especially with the sharing of components between Mitsubishi and Nissan.

The Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4 are cornerstones for Mitsubishi Motors, known for their high fuel economy and sporty looks. The former comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but both models will most likely have it in the next model-year. For 2019, both models will be re-engineered and have a new powertrain option. Mitsubishi has always had low-power engines though, so we won’t see anything too grand – a 1.1-liter turbocharged engine is the current pick.

While Mitsubishi Motors rolls out new cars, having officially added the Eclipse Cross to their lineup, we eagerly wait on more details. In the meantime, we’ve been digging around the interwebs for interesting tidbits on Mitsubishi technology and design. Not too long ago, we found a Mitsubishi L200 truck turned into a desert warrior by TopGear. Today, we bring forward a Mitsubishi Starion turned into a high performance vehicle.

Believe it or not, Mitsubishi Motors did take a stab at the sports car corner of the auto market a little over 30 years ago. There was the Mitsubishi Lancer and the Mitsubishi Eclipse, now turned into the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross with cool technology, and then there was a hatchback sports car known as the Mitsubishi Starion. Known for several firsts in their history, Mitsubishi produced the first turbocharged performance automobile with electronic fuel injection. The model didn’t last very long however, in production for seven years, and was actually followed by the original Eclipse.

It’s no secret that the automotive industry is shifting towards greener vehicles as we go further into the 21st Century. Who knew? Many brands have been going green, building hybrids and electric vehicles for many years, and some are just starting to hop on the bandwagon. Regardless, every so often we hear of another brand putting more research into electric and hybrid powertrains, but Mitsubishi Motors has been doing it since the beginning.

Check out the past 100 years of Mitsubishi Motors, and anyone can see Mitsubishi has been researching and even producing alternative fuel automobiles for over 40 years. Not only that, but their Mitsubishi i-Miev was the first highway capable electric vehicle (EV) to ever be produced, and was named the best value EV in America this year. Now, with the automaker putting a larger focus on their SUV and crossover units, such as the Outlander, Outlander Sport, and upcoming Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. The next step for Mitsubishi Motors is hybrids.

The Eclipse Cross and the Great American Eclipse

Miami Lakes Solar Eclipse Cross Mitsubishi

This year, 2017, on August 21st, yourself and many other Americans will be able to experience a once in a lifetime event. Imagine, it’s a sunny day in August, summer is ending, and suddenly a large shadowy figure blots out the Sun. It’s the Great American Eclipse, and for the first time in America since 1918, we can stand in the literal shadow of the Moon! And that’s not the only eclipse to look towards – there’s also the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross to look forward to.

There hasn’t been a solar eclipse, total or partial, that was visible to the entire US since … wow 72 years. Once in a lifetime is right. For those of you who aren’t crazy about science and astronomy like those of us already geeking out, a total solar eclipse is when the Moon crosses paths with the Sun while orbiting around the Earth. This puts the Moon in between the Sun and the Earth, blotting out the sky for a few minutes before its orbit causes it to pass.

New Technology Found on the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

Although there has yet to be an official release date for the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, more information is released about it every so often. When we first heard about this throwback, there were a lot of people wondering if Mitsubishi Motors had lost it. Turning a once sports car into a crossover variation had a 50/50 shot at success. However, with the lineup cutting down on small cars and shifting with the auto industry into a more SUV and crossover market, it’s possible they can pull it off.

Jump forward to the Geneva International Motor Show when the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross debuted. We talked a lot about its aesthetics, the style, and new technology popping up (literally and figuratively). Recently, Mitsubishi Motors released a video teasing the technology found in the Eclipse Cross, and it’s shaping up nicely. Perfect timing too, because we just covered the lack of a true Mitsubishi infotainment system not too long ago.

New Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Debuts at Geneva International Motor Show

Miami Lakes 2017 Geneva Motor Show 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

The 2017 Geneva International Motor Show started this week, and all kinds of new cars and car concepts are being shown off. One vehicle in particular got our attention a little ways back, and now that’s it’s here, we can’t wait to check it out. It’s time to find out all the buzz going on about the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross.

You may remember we talked about the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross a few weeks ago when there really wasn’t a lot of information about it. What we, and the rest of the world knew, was Mitsubishi was resurrecting an old compact sports car that died off back in 2012. It didn’t sound like a good idea, but with Mitsubishi Motors shifting its focus to SUVs and crossovers, it quickly became apparent they weren’t just reviving the Eclipse, they were turning it into a crossover!

Mitsubishi Eclipse Crossover Throwback

Miami Lakes Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

Well it’s been quite the ride for Mitsubishi Motors in the last few months, and now it seems that there’s no stopping them. Talk about rising from the ashes like a Phoenix – the auto company is starting gear up for the next auto show in Geneva next month. Speaking of the Phoenix and tales of legend, this year we’re going to witness an eclipse or two.

Yes, if you haven’t heard, all of the United States will have a front row seat to witness a solar eclipse on August 21. It’s going to be one of many astronomical events not to miss, but it’s not the only eclipse stealing the show this year. Mitsubishi Motors is going to revive … the Mitsubishi Eclipse, as a crossover!

Maybe Mitsubishi Motors is having a mid-life crisis after their good buddy Nissan bought a controlling interest of the company. Perhaps saying goodbye to the Mitsubishi Lancer, two in the span of a year (last Lancer Evolution sold on eBay), was just too much for them. Is Mitsubishi just trolling us?
