A Look at 2020 and Mitsubishi Motors

miami-lakes-mitsubishi-awards-2020-review

2020 is almost over, we’re so close! With the end of the year in mind, we’d like to do our usual yearly roundup of all the good news to remind us of the little wins to celebrate. Home to many automakers, Mitsubishi Motors included, at Miami Lakes Automall, we would like to point out some of the many prestigious winnings Mitsubishi Motor had this year. Although, when it comes to the likes of J.D. Power & Associates, there is no such thing as winning – just “high ranking”.

J.D. Power

All-year long, J.D. Power & Associates conduct many studies in a variety of industries, and when it comes to automobiles, we’re always interested to see what the organization has to say. Well, that’s not true. Every study is conducted by sending out surveys to consumers who have either purchased or leased a new vehicle in the last 90 days. So, if Mitsubishi is ranked high, it’s because the people love it! The truth is in the pudding with Mitsubishi Motors ranking as the highest Japanese auto brand during the J.D. Power 2020 Initial Quality Study.

Mitsubishi Motors also did very well in the J.D. Power U.S. Customer Service Index (CSI) Study, with a focus on Service Initiation, Vehicle Pick-Up, Service Facility, Service Quality, and Service Advisory. Not so much the vehicles, but the service dealerships give them. Out of a 1000-pointcale, Mitsubishi received a score of 837. That’s like a B minus in grade school, so not bad. Another not product-related study was the J.D. Power 2020 Manufacturer Website Evaluation Study. This study is all about how easy it is for consumers to find the information they’re looking for on a manufacturer website, and so many automakers have such a down-right horrible design – even we get lost sometimes looking for the specs of our competitors – so it’s definitely a large issue. Mitsubishi Motors, however, did very well for the following key factors (in order of importance): information/content; appearance; navigation; and speed.

Mitsubishi Motors is also improving its automotive tech and how it helps consumers. One mobile app Mitsubishi consumers will be able to use is the Mitsubishi Road Assist+. This app collects driving behavior data through the telematics system and provides the driver with feedback to help improve unsafe driving behavior. The hardware-free, smartphone-based application also collects information from geospatial context to driving events, such as weather and road conditions to make drivers aware of what’s up ahead. This app got a lot of recognition, and Mitsubishi Motors received the 2020 Future Digital Awards for Road Assist+.

Follow the Leader

When the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance held a digital presentation of the new plans for automobile production over the next few years, there was a lot of discussion about self-driving vehicles, electric cars, and vehicle connectivity. Out of all of this, the Alliance also announced a new “Follow the Leader” business plan. Each automaker would be in charge of a specific region for sales. Then, an automaker would release a new vehicle in that region, and if it did well, the other automakers would release a similar vehicle in their own respective regions before crossing over for competition.

It seems Mitsubishi Motors is taking the lead on this one. The first vehicle to be released has been kept under wraps, but we know it will either be in the C or D car segment – or anything from a subcompact car to a large SUV. Mitsubishi has enough SUVs as it is, so we’re hoping for a reincarnated version of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. The automaker had discussed bringing back the EVO nameplate on an electric or plug-in hybrid, so we’re eagerly waiting for more news.

With all those high-ranking accomplishments, Mitsubishi Motors is doing better than ever. Want to find yourself a new Mitsubishi vehicle? Come to Miami Lakes Automall or call us and ask about our at-home test drives.

Looking Back at Mitsubishi in 2019

miami-lakes-automall-mitsubishi-2019

With 2019 closing out, things are starting to wind down. Automakers have been having many celebrations with all the award shows and “Best of” lists that have been going on. Some automakers are already preparing for 2020 and beyond. One of these would be Mitsubishi Motors, having spent most of 2019 presenting concept after concept, device after device. The automaker had some of its own successes in 2019 as well, and most recently was named an innovator for the eco-friendly house displayed at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show, the Dendo Drive House.

In a nutshell, the Dendo Drive House (DDH) is a self-sustaining home. The DDH is the first system designed to make use of renewable energy for a cleaner, greener ecosystem while also fulfilling the needs of the everyday consumer at home. An entire house powered via electricity converted from solar energy collected via solar panels equipped around the building. Plus, through the use of a bi-directional charger, the house can recharge the battery of a plug-in hybrid in the garage and use that as a backup generator if the house were to use up all of its energy.

Mitsubishi Outlander Still an Award-Winning SUV

Mid-size SUVs and Crossovers seem to be a new car segment to many, but the truth is, the class of vehicle has just started to gain more popularity with automakers trying to cover the range of features consumers look for. Power, comfort, convenience, space, price – it all adds up, and in more ways than one. The value of a vehicle and the cost to own it down the line can be large factors when it comes to buying a vehicle, but so does how well a vehicle performs. In the Mid-Size SUV/Crossover segment, Mitsubishi Motors is already doing well with all of the above with their Outlander and Outlander PHEV models.

Performance of the Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander PHEV

Named as two of the “Best 5 All-Around Performance” vehicles by Automotive Science Group in their 2018 Automotive Performance Index study. This isn’t the first time the Automotive Science Group has awarded Mitsubishi Motors vehicles. Last time, in June 2018, the Automotive Science Group (ASG) assessed 823 model year 2018 crossovers, SUVs, and minivans in North America when conducting their 2017 Automotive Performance Index study. The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was named as one of the “Best 5 All-Around Performance” vehicles, and the 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage was rewarded with the “Best Economic Performance Award” for the second consecutive year and earned Mitsubishi Motors recognition as the “Best All-Around Performance Brand”.

Miami Lakes Auto 2017 Wrap Up

2017 Wrap Up of Brands and Models at Miami Lakes Automall

Miami Lakes Auto 2017 Wrap Up

So much has happened this year, it’s time to wrap up 2017 before the New Year. Many of the brands at Miami Lakes Automall killed it in sales, won many awards, and debuted new vehicle trims and all new models. We can’t cover everything, so here’s a couple of the highlights for each brand.

Chevrolet

Among its many awards this year, most notable are mentions of the Chevrolet Sonic, Tahoe, Silverado HD, and Camaro for dependability by J.D. Power for the last two years-in-a-row. Nearly every vehicle in the Chevy lineup received an award, such as the Chevy Volt, Spark, Sonic, Malibu, Impala, Camaro, Trax, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Colorado, and Silverado. Besides being an award-winning brand, Chevrolet also came out with special edition trucks for the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado and Chevrolet Silverado to celebrate its Centennial Anniversary. In addition, Chevrolet released the Bolt EV, a strong competitor for Tesla, also leading Chevy’s self-driving fleet and making headway as possibly the first brand to make it to the finish line for autonomous car technology.

Chrysler

It’s almost impossible to ignore the Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid. Rated as the Best Family Car by several organizations, the Pacifica also landed on the WardsAuto Best User Experience list and the Pacifica Hybrid was named in the WardsAuto 10 Best Engines list. The Chrysler Pacifica also was named highest in initial quality in the minivan segment of the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. With only two models left, three including the hybrid, we’re all wondering what Chrysler will do next. They also have a partnership with Google at the moment for the Google Waymo project, having donated over 500 Pacifica Hybrids to the Waymo testing fleet.
