2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Receives New Blacked-Out Trim

miami-lakes-mitsubishi-outlander-black-edition

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV sure has been a hit for the automaker. A key part of the business strategy for Mitsubishi Motors, the Outlander has brought the brand back into the land of profitability, and is setting up Mitsubishi for the next phase in its production. A part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, a recent conference was held by the Alliance to announce Alliance 2030, a new six year business strategy to revolutionize electric vehicles (EVs) and create a world of connected mobility. Currently, Mitsubishi is releasing next-generation variants of models in its current lineup, like the new generation of the Outlander for 2022, the Outlander PHEV, and the next-generation of the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. It’s all adding up to a mystery vehicle, and we don’t think it’s one of the Renault vehicles Mitsubishi is tinkering with for Europe. Making as much dough as possible before the new release, in case it’s a flop, Mitsubishi just released a Bolder Black Edition Package for the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander…except it’s not all black.

Now just an appearance package, this is actually an all-new trim being added to the Mitsubishi Outlander lineup. It makes sense that the automaker would add a new trim in its second year as the best-selling Outlander model for years. The new trim is already being made available at dealerships nationwide, and comes with a few changes, mainly to the appearance. This treatment for the Outlander is what many automakers call a “blacked-out” package. The most notable enhancements to the SUV are black front and rear bumper garnish, black door handle trim, black side mirrors, and black headliner and pillars, riding on 20-inch black alloy wheels. Built on the SE-trim level, these appearance changes don’t affect the list of great features already made available to the 2022 Outlander SE. It does add dual-zone climate control and a power panoramic sunroof, however, so that’s a nice touch.

The 2022 Outlander Has Made Mitsubishi Motors Profitable Once More

miami-lakes-2022-mitsubishi-outlander-vehicle-of-the-year

Mitsubishi Motors has seen some crazy ups and downs over the last two years. Just when the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance was gearing up for the mid-term plans of Alliance 2022, the Coronavirus pandemic hit in full force. It messed up a lot of things in the economy, and the semiconductor shortage that followed in 2021 just worsened things. Mitsubishi Motors is supposed to be coming out with a new vehicle, but so far we’ve just seen the revival of the Ralliart as an appearance package during the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon with Ralliart-infused Outlander and Eclipse Cross models. Right now, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV is carrying the automaker into the land of profits, and sales are going up. The new generation really changed things up, and has become the break Mitsubishi needed.

Engineering

The power under the hood of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV may not have changed much, with a 2.5-liter MIVEC DOHC four-cylinder direct-injection engine capable of generating 181 horsepower and 181lb-ft of torque. Keeping things fresh, the standard transmission is a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that helps to improve the control and fuel economy of the vehicle. Speaking of control, a new chassis and suspension have been installed for improved stability and performance, and with Mitsubishi’s new All-Wheel Control technology, this SUV can handle various types of terrain. Six drive modes have also been added to meet the demands of the driver.

Hispanic Consumers Vote 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV of the Year

miami-lakes-mitsubishi-2022-outlander-reveal

2021 shook up the auto industry with the semiconductor chip shortage, but some vehicles managed to prevail regardless of what lack of resources they may be enduring. One of these automakers was Mitsubishi Motors, having spent its time and resources on the all-new and improved 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV. Kicking things off on Amazon Live, Mitsubishi Motors launched its new “Thunderstruck” campaign, featuring music from AC/DC and highlighting features of the new SUV in a flash way. Winning awards all throughout the year, the 2022 Outlander was just named “SUV of the Year” by another publication, Puros Autos, during their “Latin Flavor Cars of the Year 2021” awards.

With all the awards Mitsubishi Motors earned, especially for the new Outlander, it comes as no surprise that more publications would be naming the SUV in their “Best of the Year” lists. The name Puros Autos may not be well-known, but it’s a largely trusted source on the web and the go-to site for the Hispanic demographic of the auto market. According to Puros Autos, one-out-of-every-four-cars purchased in the U.S. is by a Hispanic consumer, slowly making its way to a three-to-one ratio of the consumer base. With that in mind, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander also has the highest percentage of Hispanic buyers in the industry today.

miami-lakes-2022-mitsubishi-outlander-vehicle-of-the-year

The all-new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander has been winning since its release earlier this year, back in the first quarter. Crazy, right? Where does the time go…anyways, it’s all good. This Mitsubishi SUV has been rocking all it has to offer. In September, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander with its highest honor, a Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+). Recently, the 2022 Outlander landed on the WardsAuto 10 Best Interiors List. To keep the commotion going, Mitsubishi Motors also launched a new marketing campaign using the popular AC/DC song – Thunderstruck. November brings us another accolade for the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander – named “Vehicle of the Year” by the online publication Victory & Reseda.

“Since its launch in March of this year, the all-new 2022 Outlander has exceeded expectations, broken sales records and introduced Mitsubishi Motors to a new customer…Each award and each title the vehicle wins reinforces that now is the time to shop your local Mitsubishi Motors dealer, and take a look at our award-winning lineup. Special thanks to the editorial team at Victory & Reseda for this fantastic award, and to everyone who voted for the Outlander.” – Mark Chaffin, Mitsubishi Motors North America Chief Operating Officer

WardsAuto Names 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander on 10 Best Interiors List

miami-lakes-mitsubishi-2021-wardsauto-10-best-interior-outlander

As the year gets closer to the end, automakers get to round up all the awards and accolades they receive for models of the current and new model year. Many automotive journalists and organizations also start to finalize the results from their reviews, analysis, and data collection to talk about the best vehicles out there. Oftentimes, that comes in the form of a list – “The Best” something or other. This time, the list is coming from a well-known name in the industry, WardsAuto, and the list is their “10 Best Interiors” list. Why are we talking about it? Because this year, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander has landed on such a list.

Now that’s some great news. The Mitsubishi Outlander has gone under a number of changes for 2022, and the design concept the interior was based on turned the cabin into an intuitive setting for passengers. The concept was called Omotenashi, or next-level Japanese hospitality, where an environment is designed to anticipate the needs of its guests. In a vehicle setting, an interior cabin would be designed with features and amenities to “anticipate” passenger needs. One example of this is Smartphone pockets built into the second row for passengers’ convenience.

Alongside such features, the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander stands out for its allure of luxury at such a great price. With genuine leather seating surfaces available, the SUV has slowly added more upscale and high-end features to recent models. The new Outlander comes with many features to make it a more modern vehicle to compete with the rest of the market. Consumers can find a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster on the left and 9-inch center screens with embedded navigation and wireless smartphone charging capability for Google Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® available in the new 2022 Outlander.

Although the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander has a starting MSRP of $26,095 (plus destination fee), WardsAuto must have had a maxxed out SEL Touring trim. Starting at $34,646 (plus destination fee), this trim already comes with LED front fog lights, a hands free power remote liftgate, power panoramic sunroof, synthetic leather seating surfaces, heated front and rear seats with triple-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel and leather-wrapped shift knob to start the luxury aspects. Then the tech comes in with a great sound system to start – Bose™ premium audio with 10 speakers, a multi-view camera system, a 9-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio with Navigation – SiriusXM™ with 3-month All Access trial, HD Radio, and smartphone wireless charging. The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander on the list is just shy of $40k.

“At $38,590, this interior stands out from the crowd because it looks so premium and luxurious,” – judge Drew Winter of the all-new Outlander

WardsAuto is well-known in the auto industry as an organization that covers the latest news, data, and analysis on the newest vehicles on the market today. For lists like the “10 Best Interiors” list, WardsAuto only includes car models and interiors that are all new or were significantly improved from the previous year to be included on the list. These changes can be something simple like adding color choices, the aesthetics like accents and stitching, styling, and the materials used in the cabin, or unique features with multiple functions, like an in-floor storage bin. The WardsAuto 10 Best Interiors List recognizes models for their outstanding achievement in aesthetics, comfort, ergonomics, materials usage, fit-and-finish, and user-friendliness of displays and controls. The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander made it to the list and you can find the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander at Miami Lakes Automall.

The IIHS Awards 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander with TSP+

miami-lakes-2021-mitsubishi-outlander-phev-new-powertrain

As we come closer to the end of the year, automakers are going to be introducing the new model year of their vehicles. With the 2021 global semiconductor chip shortage, this will be a chance for some automakers to bounce back, unable to fulfill orders or include certain features on their 2020 models. Aside from fancy features, consumers also care about safety, and automakers will need to rely on organizations like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) for high praise. Neither organization is a push over, so when the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander receives a Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+) rating from IIHS, the highest safety rating available from the organization, we know it’s a safe vehicle to choose.

Like we said, the IIHS is no pushover. When it comes to testing a vehicle for crashworthiness – or how well it handles a crash – the IIHS has five crash scenarios to test the vehicle’s structure and how well it reduces impact and damage to the driver and passengers inside the cabin. On top of this, safety features and systems designed to mitigate the damage or avoid a crash altogether are also tested. Each crash test receives a rating of “Poor”, “Marginal”, “Acceptable”, or “Good”, whereas the safety systems are rated with “Basic”, “Advanced”, and “Superior”.

2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Setting a New Standard for SUVs

miami-lakes-2022-mitsubishi-outlander-sales

The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV is currently the bread-winner for Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA). That might not be the story for long, while the automaker shifts its focus to electric vehicle (EV) development and is set to make the new flagship of the automaker the Eclipse Cross PHEV. The original Eclipse Cross recently won a spot in the 2021 AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Awards, so it’s already a great step in the right direction for the new flagship car of Mitsubishi Motors. For now, however, the 2022 Outlander is crushing it in sales and even with the current semiconductor chip shortage, the new SUV is attracting a higher-class crowd and big spenders that will keep Mitsubishi Motors going strong.

It may be surprising to think of an SUV as a luxury vehicle, but these large vehicles have become more than just machines that can handle various driving conditions. We’ve come a long way from the gas guzzlers SUVs once were, and these days, every automaker wants at least one SUV or model they can use to compete in the luxury vehicle class, and not just the mass market. Having sold 6,954 units so far, double the sales of 2020 to date, the new Outlander is forging the path for new and future Mitsubishi models.

Mitsubishi Attracts New Business with 2022 Outlander

miami-lakes-2021-mitsubishi-outlander-phev-new-powertrain

At the end of June 2021, Mitsubishi Motors held a shareholders meeting to talk about the future of the company and upcoming models. Even with the power of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, 2020 hit everyone in the industry hard, and it may have forced Mitsubishi to leave some concepts on the cutting room floor. We’re talking about the Engelberg Tourer and Mi-Tech concepts, originally set to replace the aging Outlander PHEV. Instead, making it clear that the future of the automaker lies within plug-in hybrids and electric vehicle (EV) technology, Mitsubishi chose a new flagship model – the upcoming Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV. Before it arrives, the newly redesigned 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is pulling Mitsubishi Motors out of the wreckage.

Redesigned for 2022, the Mitsubishi Outlander comes with a new platform, new design, and new tech to change the way consumers look at this SUV. When the semiconductor chip shortage started to affect the auto industry, many automakers had to choose between temporarily retiring more advanced features and production. Instead of using up resources for a limited production, new consumer incentives and advertising for Mitsubishi Motors increased instead with the money that would usually go towards production. This boosted the profitability of the automaker when the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander came out in April, selling 6,954 units in the second quarter of 2021, double that of 2020.

The New Mitsubishi Outlander Offers A Lot More for 2022

miami-lakes-mitsubishi-2022-outlander-sales

2020 was a crazy year for the global economy and many industries that rely on the mass manufacturing of products. Although robots do a lot of the heavy lifting these days, it’s not all automated. Now that we’re in a new year, businesses are trying to bounce back, and more so than ever the automotive industry. Automakers are releasing plenty of new vehicles to stir up consumers and bring them back after the pandemic. One automaker refreshing its lineup for the new year is Mitsubishi Motors, and the new Outlander is quite the surprise.

The first surprise would be its questionable quarterly sales. Only 4106 units sold in comparison with its sporty sibling, the Outlander Sport, with 13,356 units sold. However, last year, during a pandemic, the Outlander outsold the Outlander Sport, but not by much. We think it could be because the Outlander Sport was offering a lot of features the Outlander did not. Well, that all changes with the new generation of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander.

Check Out What’s New for the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV

miami-lakes-mitsubishi-2022-outlander-reveal

We’ve just begun the new year for 2021, the middle of February, but that’s not stopping the leading Japanese automaker from releasing a brand-new model for the 2022 model year. That’s right – we’re talking about Mitsubishi Motors, introducing the all-new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander with a special virtual reveal. For the first time ever, a vehicle made its global debut on Amazon Live. Entering a new generation for the SUV, Mitsubishi is bringing a whole new look to the Outlander with new style fit for the next generation. Check out all the highlights below.

Power and Engineering

Making up the underpinnings of this SUV is a new combination of a newly developed platform to drive on. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is under the hood, the Mitsubishi’s rally-derived Super All-Wheel Control is available if not standard to keep everything under control for drivers in all environments. Able to take on off-road rallies, it should be able to, and with available large-diameter 20-inch wheels, unsavory roads won’t shake up the Outlander SUV. With bolder proportions and a strong stance, this is the new SUV to look for in 2021.
