Have You Heard of the Surprising Mitsubishi Minicab MiEV?

The Mitsubishi i-Miev has a hard life in the North American market. Although named the “Best Value Electric Vehicle Passenger Car in America” by Vincentric in 2017, Mitsubishi Motors pulled the electric vehicle (EV) from the U.S. The i-Miev was a big deal, however, known as the first highway-capable EV to ever be released. Of course, it is no longer the only EV capable of high speeds and leaving city roads behind. Overseas, Mitsubishi Motors hasn’t given up, and if anything, has improved the i-Miev over the years, going from a super small vehicle akin to the now discontinued Smart Cars to a compact van. Surprisingly, this mini-mini van is turning heads, and it’s not just because this EV isn’t available in America.

Our story today comes from Chris and Sarah Jensen, owners of a seven-year-old Mitsubishi Minicab MiEV. While driving down Coronation Drive in Brisbane, Chris received a lot of questions from tradespeople in passing, many of which were interested in the vehicle’s capabilities. A new Mitsubishi Minicab MiEV can offer about 100 miles of emissions-free travel on a single charge, but the minicab in question is a bit old, offering about 75 miles of electric range. That’s still a lot of breathing room, and much more than the average daily commute – assuming your company has adopted the “back to work” culture. Like many EVs and battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), the Mitsubishi Minicab MiEV can also charge overnight.

Miami Lakes Auto 2017 Wrap Up

2017 Wrap Up of Brands and Models at Miami Lakes Automall

Miami Lakes Auto 2017 Wrap Up

So much has happened this year, it’s time to wrap up 2017 before the New Year. Many of the brands at Miami Lakes Automall killed it in sales, won many awards, and debuted new vehicle trims and all new models. We can’t cover everything, so here’s a couple of the highlights for each brand.

Among its many awards this year, most notable are mentions of the Chevrolet Sonic, Tahoe, Silverado HD, and Camaro for dependability by J.D. Power for the last two years-in-a-row. Nearly every vehicle in the Chevy lineup received an award, such as the Chevy Volt, Spark, Sonic, Malibu, Impala, Camaro, Trax, Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban, Colorado, and Silverado. Besides being an award-winning brand, Chevrolet also came out with special edition trucks for the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado and Chevrolet Silverado to celebrate its Centennial Anniversary. In addition, Chevrolet released the Bolt EV, a strong competitor for Tesla, also leading Chevy’s self-driving fleet and making headway as possibly the first brand to make it to the finish line for autonomous car technology.

It’s almost impossible to ignore the Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid. Rated as the Best Family Car by several organizations, the Pacifica also landed on the WardsAuto Best User Experience list and the Pacifica Hybrid was named in the WardsAuto 10 Best Engines list. The Chrysler Pacifica also was named highest in initial quality in the minivan segment of the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. With only two models left, three including the hybrid, we’re all wondering what Chrysler will do next. They also have a partnership with Google at the moment for the Google Waymo project, having donated over 500 Pacifica Hybrids to the Waymo testing fleet.

Smart Ways to Save and Budget for a New Car

Miami Lakes Car Budget Smart

Getting a new car is pretty exciting even if it’s a used car and only new to you. And sometimes people are so excited about getting a new ride, they forget their priorities. Before heading to a dealership to test drive a few vehicles, shoppers should do research to find out the models that suit their needs as well as fit their budget.

Calculate the Budget and Then Some

Keep in mind that if a vehicle has a starting MSRP of $25,000, that doesn’t mean that’s how much it will cost. For one thing, that’s the starting price of the model’s base trim, so if you want more than the base trim, you will end up paying more. Then, add on sales tax, title and registration fees, the destination fee, the price a dealership will sell it for, and don’t forget that you might want to include add-ons when you purchase the vehicle as well. So before signing any papers, be sure to expect a vehicle to cost a few thousand more the number you have in your head. That vehicle you thought was going to be $25,000 may actually cost $30,000 by the time papers are signed.

Very few consumers pay the full price of a car the day they buy it. Consumers who do not pay cash for a car can either finance a new or used car, or lease a new car. When a consumer finances a car, that consumer usually makes a down payment and then makes monthly car payments until the loan is paid off.  When a consumer leases a car, they make monthly lease payments until their lease contract is up and then they give the car back.
