Mitsubishi Motors Wins Asia Cross Country Rally 2022 with Ralliart Tritons

Mitsubishi Motors has been testing the limits and the capabilities of its lineup in recent years. Although no one would think of Mitsubishi when they hear the word “off-road”, it may be a nameplate that comes to mind when someone says “rally cars”. The automaker started in America as a rally car racer, and the Lancer Evolution is still fresh in the minds of many rally drivers. Mitsubishi is even starting to design Ralliart editions of several models in its lineup, starting with the Mirage Ralliart Edition. Mitsubishi has also entered the Rebelle Rally in recent years, a 10-day, 2,000 km navigational course to test its might. Put the two experiences together, and we have the recent Asia Cross Country Rally 2022, which Mitsubishi entered with a Ralliart Triton.

What is the Triton? An overseas vehicle we have yet to see here in America, the Mitsubishi Triton is a pickup truck that the automaker could really do well with if they brought it stateside. However, with a focus on SUVs, even with the midsize pickup truck opening up, Mitsubishi is instead testing the waters of its sports car days with Ralliart editions of models currently in its lineup, and the Ralliart Triton is a good indication of what a Ralliart-infused model can do. The Mirage Ralliart Edition is mostly just racing stickers and a color scheme, but for the Asia Cross Country Rally 2022, Mitsubishi needs to do a little more to make the Triton rally race ready.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Sales Pave Way for Plug-ins

miami-lakes-mitsubishi-engelberg-tourer-concept

When an automaker hits a global milestone, it has something to celebrate. In 2019, Mitsubishi Motors has 200,000 reasons to celebrate, with its plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, achieving a key milestone. Based on the latest sales data from Mitsubishi, there have been 200,000 units of the Outlander PHEV sold worldwide since its launch in 2013. This can only mean great things for the automaker going forward, not only with their involvement with the Renault-Nissan Alliance to increase sales, but also future Mitsubishi concepts, like the Engelberg Tourer.

Taking Plug-in Hybrids by Storm

At the end of 2017, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance discussed the production of a cross-platform electric vehicle to be shared between the three automakers. Much of this decision came from the success of the Nissan Leaf electric car, having sold over 300,000 units since its 2010 release, and continuing to sell over 40,000 each year. In the Autumn of 2018, Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance saw a total sales increase of 5.1-percent in the European auto market, putting the alliance at a grand total of 5,538,530 vehicles in the first half of the year. Most of those sales came from crossovers, SUVs, zero-emission EVs, and especially PHEVs.

Plenty of Good News for Mitsubishi Motors in First Half of 2018

Miami-Lakes-Mitsubishi-Mirage-good-news

Mitsubishi has been celebrating success for the last few months. Not only has Mitsubishi released new models in the U.S. market, but their models are earning awards and the company has been enjoying excellent sales in a couple different months since the start of 2018.

Awards

So far in 2018, Mitsubishi Motors has earned awards from Forbes, The Automotive Science Group and the New England Motor Press Association.

While the awards earned from the New England Motor Press Association and The Automotive Science Group are focused on Mitsubishi products, the recognition from Forbes was more personal. Mitsubishi Motors made Forbes’ list of the top 500 best large employers in the U.S. due to Mitsubishi’s high marks in employee culture and growth opportunities.

Mitsubishi Motors earned four different awards from The Automotive Science Group. The group recognized Mitsubishi Motors as Best All-Around Performance Brand and Best Economic Performance Brand, and it named the Mitsubishi Mirage the Best Economic Performance Car and Best 5 All-Around Performance. Those are excellent titles for the company to achieve, and we hope that it’ll convince Mitsubishi to keep the Mitsubishi Mirage around for many more years.

Previous to the awards from The Automotive Science Group, the New England Motor Press Association named the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV the Best Green Winter Vehicle. 2018 was the first year the Outlander PHEV was made available in the U.S.

Sales

In addition to awards, Mitsubishi has also had a successful first half of 2018 due to their impressive sales in January, March, April and May.

  • Mitsubishi Motors reports January 2018 sales up over 30 percent
    • Best January sales since 2007
  • Mitsubishi Motors reports February 2018 sales increased 18.8 percent
    • The Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander Sport had the best sales month ever
  • Mitsubishi Motors reports March 2018 sales up 21.7 percent
    • Best March sales since 2005
  • Mitsubishi Motors reports May 2018 sales up 31.7 in comparison to May 2017
    • Best May sales month in 11 years

Almost Half-Way Through 2018 and Mitsubishi Has Accomplished A Lot

Miami-Lakes-Mitsubishi-sales-accomplishments

At one point, people may have been skeptical about the future of Mitsubishi Motors in the U.S., but that’s not so much the case in 2018. It’s only about half-way through the year and Mitsubishi has accomplished a lot. The company has released a couple new significant models to the U.S. market, its earned a couple awards, and experienced record-breaking sales.

Exciting New Models

Mitsubishi has been boasting about their plans to have a strong SUV and CUV lineup and 2018 was the year the company decided to pull the trigger. For the 2018 model year, Mitsubishi finally brought the anticipated Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV to the American market and the company also released the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, which is a new model for all global markets. The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was a great move for the company to bring to the U.S. because it is one of the only few PHEV all-wheel-drive SUVs that’s available in this market and it was one of the best-selling PHEVs in Europe for several years.

Recognition for Being a Great Employer in the U.S.

In 2018, Mitsubishi Motors was named to Forbes’ list of top 500 employers in the U.S. To rank the companies, Forbes partners up with an independent company named Statista, which polls more than 30,000 individuals from large U.S. companies.

“Mitsubishi prides itself on the passionate and dedicated employees who are the driving force behind our brand’s momentum,” said Fred Diaz, president and chief executive officer, MMNA. “Being recognized by Forbes is a great honor and validation to our commitment to provide a working environment that is supportive, diverse and dynamic.”

Awards from Automotive Science Group

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and Outlander earned the “Best 5 All-Around Performance” award from the Automotive Science Group. The Automotive Science Group is a data-driven research group that evaluates vehicles on their environmental, economic and social performance.

Record-Breaking Sales

In March 2018, Mitsubishi Motors reported a 21.7 percent increase, which was the biggest increase since March 2005. Vehicles that specially contributed to the excellent sales included the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport and Mitsubishi Outlander. The positive sales report reinforced Mitsubishi’s aims of being a top CUV producer.

“Our CUV lineup is as strong as ever. We’re confident in the competitiveness of our products and consumers are starting to realize one of the best kept secrets in the industry,” said Ken Konieczka, vice president, sales operations, MMNA. “As supplies of our all-new Outlander PHEV and Eclipse Cross continue to grow, the sales momentum will only get stronger as we head into spring.”

Five Latest Investments by Alliance Ventures

Miami Lakes Automall Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi Five Investments

Renault-Nissan brought Mitsubishi Motors into the fold back in 2016 to create the new Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. Over a year, Mitsubishi Motors finished producing its last in-house vehicle, the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, and started to use Nissan’s resources to get a running start as part of the alliance. In January 2018, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance began a new funding campaign called “Alliance Ventures” to invest $1 billion in order to support open innovation, start-ups, and entrepreneurs in technology with a focus on autonomous systems, electric vehicles (EVs), connectivity, and artificial intelligence. The fund will last five years, and to start things off, $200 million was allocated for the first year’s budget – $50 million of that budget has already been spent in the last five months. Here’s a list of all five investments.

Overseas

Being that all three automakers are from the other side of the hemisphere, with Mitsubishi Motors and Nissan settled in Japan, and Renault in France, the investments started overseas. The first was with the DiDi Auto Alliance. Founded by DiDi, an artificial intelligence and autonomous technology conglomerate in China, the DiDi Auto Alliance is an intelligent ride-sharing alliance working on providing new smart mobility solutions in China. The main goal of the DiDi Auto Alliance aims to unite all its members to transform the business model of the automotive industry and become the largest full-capacity vehicle operator platform in the world by providing services like auto leasing and sales, auto finance, auto service, fleet operation, and car-sharing solutions. The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance struck a deal to help fund the DiDi Auto Alliance in exchange for their automotive services.

A France-based company, Kalray, has also received funding from Alliance Ventures, being that their current goals are very similar to those of the alliance. In addition to their plug-in electric hybrid vehicles, the alliance plans to develop fifteen models with autonomous features by 2022; Kalray is working on developing a microprocessor that can be used in autonomous driving. Sounds like the perfect match and a smart investment.

Routine Car Maintenance: Know Where To Go

160413_FF_TaxesSpentOn

There are some perks if you have decided to purchase a vehicle instead of leasing. One perk is you don’t have to worry about going over a certain amount of miles per year, but you will have to worry about repairs you might not have faced before. As aging vehicles approach around 100,000 miles or get older, there’s usually different concerns as the vehicle will require closer attention to any problems. However, preventive maintenance before that mark should always occur every 3,000 to 5,000 miles.

For newer drivers, routine maintenance is what we we’ll cover here so that you car can make it to that 100k mark.

Along the way, usually different parts need to be replaced or serviced, from brake rotors and brake pads to common fluids that help your vehicle move and stay lubricated, such as oil. That’s where Miami Lakes Automall can help. We can ensure you have the right parts and quickly get you back on the road in a safe, properly running vehicle. Below are different routine car maintenance services we commonly address and will be happy to help you out with for the life of your vehicle.

Routine Tire Rotations + Alignment

Your vehicle needs to have its tires rotated regularly. Your vehicle’s alignment is also important to maintain a proper wear with your tires, an alignment fix is all it takes to ensure your vehicle can stay running smoothly. If you’ve noticed your tires are wearing down only on one side, or simply your vehicle drifts either left or right when your hand is not on the steering wheel while moving forward, that means you’ll need to have your vehicle’s alignment looked at.

Oil Changes

For most vehicles, between every 3,000-5,000 miles traveled is when the oil should be changed. If you use fully synthetic oil you can help your vehicle with a product that offers greater engine wear protection and requires fewer changes. Synthetic oils typically outperform conventional motor oils and synthetic oil flows better at low temperatures. Whether you choose synthetic or conventional, your vehicle’s engine will thank you when you come in for an oil change.

Brake Replacements

As mentioned above, brakes wear down over time. If you notice your brakes have some wear, that’s normal. It’s when you can hear a loud squeaking sound that they might be worn down or if you press your brakes and they don’t respond promptly. That’s when you should take care of this problem and we have all the parts to ensure your vehicle will stop properly.

Radiator Fluid Replacement

Flush your radiator and cooling system is not something you’ll have to do often. Most likely only once or twice in your vehicle’s lifetime. A flush doesn’t cost a lot at all and allows your vehicle to cool the engine more efficiently. Getting a flush done is best when left to the professionals though, as this task requires proper disposal of the old radiator fluid. Radiator fluid can be toxic; meaning you don’t want to do this at your home anyway. With a proper flush and radiator fluid replacement can last for upwards of 150,000 miles.

What Is Gap Insurance and Should I Get It?

Gap-Insurance-Miami-Lakes-Automall

In the state of Florida, it’s illegal to drive without auto insurance. Of course, the most important thing when you’re dealing with an accident is to know you’re covered and will have enough money to pay off any existing payments owed.

Gap insurance is used together with collision coverage or comprehensive coverage. If you’re leasing or financing a new car, many lenders require you to have collision and comprehensive coverage on your car insurance policy until your car is paid off. Gap insurance is available to help when your vehicle has been totaled in an accident and your totaled vehicle has to be paid off.

An Example of When You’ll Need Gap Insurance

Let’s say, for example, you were just in an accident and your vehicle has been totaled and you still owe $15,000 on the loan for your vehicle. Your insurance company will reimburse you for the value of the vehicle at the time of the accident, so say that’s $10,000, you are still responsible for paying the remaining $5,000 of the loan, and that’s where gap insurance comes in. Gap insurance covers the remaining loan balance after the insurance company has paid the insurer for the value of their vehicle.

This does not cover any funds that you’ll need for a new vehicle. The money you would receive to pay off the totaled car is only for that and never goes over that amount. If you were looking to have money for your next vehicle, the option of new car replacement coverage is an option to add to your insurance plan. Those new car coverage plans can be coupled together with certain insurance plans that will include gap coverage.

How Do I Know If I Need Gap Insurance?

Ask these questions if you’re not sure to get gap insurance: Do you owe more money to pay off your loan than your vehicle is worth? Can you afford to pay out the difference today if your vehicle is a total loss? These are the factors that should make up your decision to go with gap insurance. If your auto loan is more than 60 months or you’re currently leasing your car, you might have gap coverage included.

When Can Gap Insurance Be Applied?

Gap insurance can be applied if you’re vehicle is stolen or totaled, which the latter is a decision entirely on your insurance and can’t be determined any other way. If you have more questions about whether or not you want to include gap insurance with a vehicle you plan on buying or leasing from us, stop on by for a longer conversation.

Mitsubishi’s Advanced Safety Features

2018-Mitsubishi-Outlander-Miami-Lakes-Automall

With every passing year few brands have added and expanded their safety features as much as Mitsubishi Motors. From the latest technology that has been added to their entire lineup of vehicles, there’s been a substantial improvement with higher safety ratings as of late.

Recent Safety News for Mitsubishi Motors

Most recently, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander being named to the IIHS’s Top Safety Pick list for Small SUVs. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), even with stiffened requirements for their 2018 ratings, bestowed the Top Safety Pick rating to Mitsubishi for their dedication towards providing improved safety.

Let’s take a look at some of the features that you’ll find not only in the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander, which received a 9.3 safety rating from U.S. News, but in nearly every 2018 Mitsubishi vehicle that help protect drivers every day.

Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE)

All Mitsubishi vehicles today are built with the signature Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) construction design. In the event of an accident, this design enhances passenger protection with energy-absorption technology built into the front, rear, and sides. The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander side collision rating by U.S. News is a 5, the highest for that category. Mitsubishi drivers can feel safer knowing their passengers and cargo are better protected.

Front Pedestrian Impact Crumple Zones

Similarly, the body construction of 2018 Mitsubishi vehicles are also designed to protect pedestrians. Crumple zones have been implemented into the bumper and lip of cars to reduce injury to any pedestrian that might end up being struck by a vehicle.

Active Stability Control

This system is designed to monitor the traction and grip of each individual tire. If wheel slip is detected, an anti-lock braking system is quickly engaged and will apply the brakes to the wheels with traction to avoid a spinout. This is a huge upgrade to ensure safety, even at high speeds.

Traction Control Logic

Another feature for driver control, like all cars that have stability and traction control systems, traction control logic keeps wheel spin among all tires equal by applying brakes to a freely spinning wheel and applying torque to it, the opposite of active stability control to bring an equilibrium between all of the tires, thus allowing the vehicle to continue moving safely ahead.

Advanced Safety Features

While distracted drivers are the culprit of some accidents, there are plenty of accidents that don’t involve distracted drivers. To help keep the driver and passengers safe, Mitsubishi has a couple advanced safety features that help drivers by alerting them of potentially hazardous situations or even taking control of the vehicle when necessary.

Forward Collision Mitigation

One of the best systems for any modern vehicle is that will warn the driver if approaching another vehicle too quickly and will apply the brakes if the driver does not react in an attempt to avoid an accident or decrease the intensity of impact.

Lane Departure Warning

When a driver begins to depart their lane or gets too close to the lines separating different lanes, a buzzing sound will notify the driver. This is a simple, yet effect measure to help reduce accidents from happening.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive cruise control provides drivers with an extra cushion of protection as it automatically adjust a vehicle’s speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.

The Place to Drive a New Safe Vehicle Home

Find out what these features can do for you with a live, test drive when you visit Miami Lakes Automall.
