With 2019 closing out, things are starting to wind down. Automakers have been having many celebrations with all the award shows and “Best of” lists that have been going on. Some automakers are already preparing for 2020 and beyond. One of these would be Mitsubishi Motors, having spent most of 2019 presenting concept after concept, device after device. The automaker had some of its own successes in 2019 as well, and most recently was named an innovator for the eco-friendly house displayed at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show, the Dendo Drive House.
In a nutshell, the Dendo Drive House (DDH) is a self-sustaining home. The DDH is the first system designed to make use of renewable energy for a cleaner, greener ecosystem while also fulfilling the needs of the everyday consumer at home. An entire house powered via electricity converted from solar energy collected via solar panels equipped around the building. Plus, through the use of a bi-directional charger, the house can recharge the battery of a plug-in hybrid in the garage and use that as a backup generator if the house were to use up all of its energy.

December just started and Mitsubishi Motors Corp (MMC) was named a Hive 5 Innovator for the technology MMC introduced with their Dendo Drive House. A few weeks before that, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV won an award from the Green Car Journal, the first-ever 2020 Family Green Car of the Year™. It’s the season of award shows and Mitsubishi Motors is starting to shine brighter as the year comes to an end. The latest award comes from Vincentric, a company known for collecting and providing data, knowledge, and insight into the automotive industry. We last spoke about this company when they awarded the now-discontinued Mitsubishi i-MieV with the “Best Value in America” award in the electric/ plug-in hybrid segment. Vincentric is back with new data to share about vehicles with the best pre-owned value, and the 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4 hit the top of the list.
When it comes to the value of a vehicle, Vincentric combs through various forms of data to recognize which vehicles have the best pre-owned value in their segment. Unlike most auto review publications that focus on new vehicles, Vincentric highlights vehicles that hold the most value after years of ownership. The company does that by comparing the total cost-of-ownership of a vehicle and its current market price. This data includes finance rates, residual values, and maintenance schedules for each make and model to cover the following factors – purchase price, retained value, fixed and operating costs, and maintenance and repair costs. The last two factors are important because they affect the entire lifespan of the vehicle and will draw the line between a vehicle with great value for years to come and a vehicle that will just depreciate more with time.
Vincentric held its 2020 Vincentric Best CPO Value in America awards and reviewed model years 2015-2019. Out of the competition, the 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage and Mitsubishi Mirage G4 earned top honors in their respective segments for residual value. With a budget friendly starting MSRP for each vehicle, and the amount of savings in gas each model provides, the long-lasting value is quickly obvious. The 2020 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage has a starting MSRP of $13,995 (plus destination fee) and has been named the most efficient gasoline-powered non-hybrid vehicle available in the U.S., powered by a 1.3-liter three-cylinder engine. The Mirage has a fuel economy of up to 37/43/39 mpg city/highway/combined. The 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 has a starting MSRP of $14,995 (plus destination fee) and offers a fuel economy of up to 35/41/37 mpg city/highway/combined. The fuel economy numbers for each are based on the assumption that the consumer also opted in for the optional continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that provides better fuel efficiency.
Not only does the value of these Mitsubishi vehicles last for years to come, but the warranties Mitsubishi Motors offers will help ensure it. Leading the industry, Mitsubishi Motors covers each vehicle with a fully transferable 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty; 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty; and a 7-year/100,000-mile anti-corrosion perforation limited warranty. Emergency maintenance costs are also covered with a 5-year/unlimited miles of roadside assistance plan.

During the spring, one of the largest auto shows took place all the way on the other side of the world in Switzerland. Yes, it was the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show, during which time many automakers and technology companies unveil all sorts of new cars and commercial products. There was one automaker that we could say stole the show, and that’s Mitsubishi Motors with their Dendo Drive House, an eco-friendly system that acts as a house as well as a very large battery. This new housing system quickly gained a lot of attention and opened the doors for Mitsubishi with the resources available to the automaker through the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. Furthermore, with the Alliance Ventures funding campaign, Mitsubishi was able to invest in The Mobility House. Now, Mitsubishi Motors was honored as a HIVE 50 Innovator by Hanley Wood Magazine for the innovative Dendo Drive House.
The Dendo Drive House (DDH), in short, is a home system that makes use of renewable energy for a cleaner, greener ecosystem, while also fulfilling the needs of the everyday consumer in their everyday home. Because the DDH is a house first and a technological advancement second, the entire house is powered via electricity converted from solar energy. Solar energy is collected via solar panels equipped around the home. This energy is then converted into electricity and stored in a large home battery. This battery, when fully charged, is able to power the entire house and many of the daily appliances consumers use all day. With the use of a bi-directional charger, the house can also make use of any extra energy generated after the battery is completely charged.
