When it comes to making safe vehicles, every automaker wants to stand out. So many car commercials and advertisements focus on the safety features a vehicle can provide, but how many of the automakers behind those marketing campaigns can claim they won the first-ever 2020 Family Green Car of the Year™ by Green Car Journal? Not many. Know who can? It’s Mitsubishi Motors. Recently, the Green Car Journal held its annual Green Car Awards™ to highlight the best environmentally friendly new model year vehicles and the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV took home two awards that make it the perfect choice for families and the environment.

If you haven’t heard of the Green Car Journal, it’s a magazine publication with a large focus on green vehicles and environmentally friendly energy and technologies – automotive or otherwise. Every year, the publication hosts the Green Cars Awards program and recognizes automakers for their efforts and their accomplishments in producing vehicles in the eco-friendly car segment. Along with an interest in environmentally-positive vehicles, like any publication focuses on the automotive industry, the Green Car Journal gives consumers reviews and runs this award program to inform consumers of the best options.

The New 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage Gets a Sporty New Look

miami-lakes-2020-mitsubishi-mirage-teaser

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has been quite the busy automaker this year, 2019, with the release of the new Mi-TECH at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, along with the xAUTO from sibling company Mitsubishi Electric, and a recent contract between MMC and MaaS Global Oy for spreading global mobility solutions. Just before the end of 2019, Mitsubishi Motors has one more surprise with a newly redesigned Mitsubishi Mirage. Teased in early November with the image above, the new 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage debuted in Thailand and will shortly make its way to the states – most likely.

Nice.

The 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage no longer looks like a crossover that turned out to be the ugly duckling of the bunch. Gaining its own look and style, the new hatchback looks a little more square in the front but then smooths out towards the bust of the vehicle. The length of the Mirage still does stretch a bit into compact crossover territory but with the new look of the rear as well, tight and a with a cool lip overhang, this is definitely a new vehicle we’re looking at.

Car Care Tips for the Winter

miami-lakes-mitsubishi-cold-weather-protection

We might not get any snow down here in South Florida, but the winter weather can still get pretty cold. Although it may just take a sweater or a warm jacket to keep us protected from the cold, the same can’t be said for our cars. All kinds of weather can affect a vehicle, from sun damage and salty air in the summertime to harsh winds and cold weather in the winter. Taking care of the car with some routine maintenance can keep it running strong through the cold months, and consumers can take additional steps to protect their vehicle.

Weather Damage

Anyone who has lived in Florida long enough knows about wind damage from hurricanes and powerful tropical storms. Just because hurricane season is coming to an end doesn’t mean we’ll stop seeing storms. Up north they may get a winter storm, but the heat of South Florida will turn it into a regular storm. And hey, we’ve seen hail a few times over the last few years – winter is serious business!

The best way to avoid car damage is to park somewhere with a roof, like a public or private garage. Otherwise, getting a car cover to keep the vehicle protected from the sun and the wind is the next best alternative. In the winter months, rain can turn into hail at any point and a winter storm can really pick up the winds. Loose debris can cause minimal and mild damage to a vehicle, from cosmetic wear to battery life.

Mitsubishi Motors Campaign Expands to Free Teen Driving Safety Program

Mitsubishi Motors started a new campaign, “Small Batch – Big Impact”, to give back to the community and their consumers with a limited run of Mitsubishi models. Like the title says, the limited run is the small batch, but Mitsubishi hopes to make a big impact, and their campaign has been spreading across the U.S. in many beneficial ways. Recently, Mitsubishi got involved with the community this year during the 2019 Rebelle Rally, the first all-women’s off-road rally, active in the lower 48 states of the United States. Two veterans were given the chance to race with a minimally modified 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross equipped with hand-controls, and then the vehicle was donated as a new kind of “CUV” – “Community Utility Vehicle”. The “Small Batch – Big Impact” continues to expand, this time in Nashville, Tennessee with a free advanced driver training program to teach teens and parents how to handle on-the-road auto emergencies.

It’s a scary experience being on the road during an auto accident. Whether its loss of control, distraction, or another driver, things can go from bad to worse in no time. With car crashes being the number-one cause of death among teens in the United States, two Nashville-area Mitsubishi Motors auto dealers decided to take driving safety into their own hands. It goes without saying that Mitsubishi Motors is fully backing them up. They’re even appointing their own nationally recognized nonprofit organization – Mitsubishi Road Safety Rally – to conduct the program.
