Mitsubishi Eclipse Crossover Throwback

Miami Lakes Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

Well it’s been quite the ride for Mitsubishi Motors in the last few months, and now it seems that there’s no stopping them. Talk about rising from the ashes like a Phoenix – the auto company is starting gear up for the next auto show in Geneva next month. Speaking of the Phoenix and tales of legend, this year we’re going to witness an eclipse or two.

Yes, if you haven’t heard, all of the United States will have a front row seat to witness a solar eclipse on August 21. It’s going to be one of many astronomical events not to miss, but it’s not the only eclipse stealing the show this year. Mitsubishi Motors is going to revive … the Mitsubishi Eclipse, as a crossover!

Maybe Mitsubishi Motors is having a mid-life crisis after their good buddy Nissan bought a controlling interest of the company. Perhaps saying goodbye to the Mitsubishi Lancer, two in the span of a year (last Lancer Evolution sold on eBay), was just too much for them. Is Mitsubishi just trolling us?

Mitsubishi 2017 Warranty Details

Miami Lakes Mitsubishi Warranty Details 2017

Mitsubishi has been leading the auto industry with their warranty coverage for quite some time. Having a warranty on one’s vehicle is important, it helps to save some cash when a repair or replacement part is needed. However, warranties always feel like they’re designed to last up until a component’s breaking point. With Mitsubishi Motors, warranties last a lot longer and cover a whole lot of car parts.

2017 Model-Year Mitsubishi Warranties

Mitsubishi has several warranties that cover all of its vehicles. Each one begins the date an owner officially owns a vehicle (buy or lease).

New Vehicle Limited Warranty

Most basic limited warranties offered by manufacturers cover a car for three years or 36,000 miles, but Mitsubishi extends their basic limited warranty for five years or 60,000 miles.

The basic warranty covers vehicle parts supplied by Mitsubishi Motors North America, excluding the batteries and the restraint system. If the battery needs to be replaced within two years of ownership, it can be replaced for free. If the battery needs to be replaced between two and three years of ownership, Mitsubishi will replace the battery at half price.

Miami Lakes Mitsubishi Outlander Limited Edition

New Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Limited Edition Added to Lineup

Miami Lakes Mitsubishi Outlander Limited Edition

Make way ladies and gentlemen, for the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Limited Edition (LE). If the Outlander Sport wasn’t already a winner for Mitsubishi, then the new Outlander Sport LE trim will definitely get the attention of consumers. Already affordable with lots of features shared across trims, how does Mitsubishi plan to make the Outlander Sport better? That’s what we’re here to talk about.

Available in four trims, the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport shares many, many features across trims. Aside from the very high-luxury options or an outstanding 9-speaker Rockford-Fosgate sound system, every Outlander Sport trim comes with a lot of extras. Even the engine mechanics are pretty uniform, with the majority of the lineup powered by a 2.4-liter MIVEC DOHC I4 engine, paired with INVEC CVT Sportronic transmission.

Let’s back up a bit, because we just threw a lot of fancy words out there. “MIVEC” is the brand name for Mitsubishi’s own variable valve timing system, a process that controls the air and gas intake/exhaust valves on an engine’s cylinders. This system, no matter the design, always attempts to optimize a vehicle’s performance and fuel efficiency.

Mitsubishi Motors Over the Last 100 Years

Miami Lakes 2017 Mitsubishi 100 Year Anniversary

This year, Mitsubishi Motors is celebrating their 100-year Anniversary. It’s quite the milestone for any company, and it makes one think back on how it all started. Even moreso, where is the motor company heading now? Before thinking about the future, we need to take a step back to where it all began.

1917

Mitsubishi Motors was born in the early 1900s, and their very first automobile was the Mitsubishi Model-A. Not a fancy name, but the vehicle was designed for luxury and important people. Sort of like horse-drawn carriages, one would expect someone important is traveling, so it makes sense. We don’t expect many of our readers to remember the world 100 years ago, but if you do, you might remember World War I was being fought.

1962

In 1961 Mitsubishi found their passion … racing. They entered and set a track record at an international motorsports event with their new vehicle, the Mitsubishi 500 Super Deluxe. However, even with international acknowledgement, Mitsubishi was still mostly in Japan in the 60’s, and it would be a little while until they came to America. Here in the states, you may remember Martin Luther King Jr, the top Soul Brother that changed a country.

1971

Here’s when Mitsubishi started to really make a name for themselves, research electric vehicle technology, and shortly after becoming the first automaker to massively market an electric vehicle. This is also the year they came to America, but to break the ice, their vehicle was bought and sold by Dodge under the veil of the Dodge Colt for more than 20 years. The 1970s were largely a time of change with many people of color and gender fighting for their rights, and protests against the ongoing Vietnam War.
