A lot of great things have been happening for Kia Motors in recent years, and most currently, they debuted a lineup of outstanding vehicles. At the 2018 LA Auto Show, the 2020 Kia Soul, 2020 Kia Soul EV, and 2019 Kia Niro EV were presented, and the 2020 Kia Telluride was revealed at the 2019 NAIAS. Kia Motors even showcased some pretty cool autonomous technology at the 2019 CES. Out of all of these, the Kia Niro EV was the most elusive. As we get closer to its release (date still yet unannounced), here’s everything we know about the 2019 Kia Niro EV.
Already Named Car of the Year
Back when the Kia Stinger first debuted, the vehicle won many awards before it was even released. Following the tradition, Kia Motors has yet to talk any details about when they plan to release the 2019 Kia Niro EV to the public, but in the European market, the Kia Niro EV has already been named “Car of the Year”. This award came from consumer magazine and website What Car? and the Kia Niro EV, called the e-Niro in European markets, is the first Korean car to win the prestigious award.
Out of the 23 competitors during a competition in Britain, including vehicles powered by gasoline, diesel, and even hybrids, the fully-charged zero-emissions Kia came out on top. This is thanks to its high-capacity 64 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack, known for travelling up to 280 miles. That’s one of the powertrains currently set for the 2019 Kia Niro EV. An optional 39.2 kWh battery system that can travel 150 miles was also once discussed, but at the moment, it has little spotlight.
