Kia Corp has been getting involved more and more with the youth community, and their latest announcement of being the official sponsor of the League of Legends championship for the fourth consecutive year, it’s clear this is a smart move that will continue. The demographic tomorrow is the youth of today, and if a company wants to survive, they need to adapt to the new audience. Not just sponsoring events, Kia America has also helped its community in times of disaster during the pandemic, such as donating to Covenant House and other charities, and every year a new Super Bowl Campaign. 2022 will be no different, and here’s a look back at previous endeavors by Kia Corp.

Giving Back

Back in 2019, during the ultimate EDM music festival (the annual Electronic Dance Music (EDM) Festival), Kia America put together an unforgettable experience for partygoers to help them refresh and refuel to party on. One major initiative, Accelerate the Good, was the major jumping off point for Kia going beyond events and giving back to the community in larger ways. Last year, Kia donated $200,000 to the American Red Cross to help with relief efforts after the hurricane season hit New Orleans and the U.S. mainland. That’s in addition to the $250,000 donated to Covenant House.

New Ad Campaign Puts the Spotlight on the Kia K5

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020

We’re all excited about the new Kia K5, the renamed and new generation of the beloved Kia Optima. Getting a much more sports car-inspired look and new features, the Kia K5 is looking like the older sibling of the Kia Stinger after it received a mid-cycle refresh. Recently, Kia Motors showed off this bad boy with death-defying stunts, a live TV event known as the Triple Threat. Now, to push the envelope a little more, Kia Motors America (KMA) launches a creative broadcast campaign in partnership with network shows including NBCUniversal’s America’s Got Talent and the 72nd Emmy® Awards telecast to show off a new ad for the vehicle, “Turning the Lights On”.

“The Kia K5 is like nothing else in the category and we looked for high-profile partners to create a series of events and creative elements that showcase our most powerful midsize sedan ever…The partnerships with America’s Got Talent and the Emmys are a completely new direction for Kia and help bring live elements to a launch that has been decidedly different from the start.” – Russell Wager, director, marketing operations, Kia Motors America

Kia Launches New Campaign of Change

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019

It’s that time of year again. Kia Motors has produced a new marketing campaign for the third generation of the Kia Soul hatchback. With a newly expanding lineup on a global scale, Kia Motors America launched a marketing campaign that builds upon the brand’s new mantra: Give It Everything. Calling the new Kia Soul the “most adaptable version ever of the brand’s iconic urban runabout”, the new campaign is about the automaker’s ability to adapt to change. A lot of this can be clearly seen in their expanding alternative fuel lineup and their claims to become an all-electric automaker. The new campaign shows that they can still deliver to every kind of consumer while moving forward.

“We have taken the Soul to an entirely new level by giving it even more of Kia’s ‘Give It Everything’ credo. With the expanded lineup offering more style, utility, technology, comfort, and adaptability than ever before, it’s a whole new species of Soul…While nearly everything about the Soul is different, this campaign continues the fun and irreverent attitude that turned Soul into an icon over the last decade.” – Saad Chehab, vice president, marketing communications, Kia Motors America

Back when the 2020 Kia Soul was first unveiled at the 2018 LA Auto Show, we heard of two distinct trims that were being added to the lineup. They went by the name of “GT” and “X”, for the respective model lines Kia Motors has been putting together, starting with their new Kia GT Line. The 2020 Soul GT was defined by a sportier exterior featuring black side mirrors, red accents, narrow headlights, and a grille that has a more angular design, leaning into its sports car mystique. The X-line, however, offers a more rugged look with fog lights, a rounded grille, unique wheels, and a roof rail – all hallmarks of an off-road vehicle. We saw both of these in the new marketing campaign, entitled “The New Species of Soul”, but another model line also entered – the EX Designer, part of the new EX Designer Collection Package.

Miami Lakes Automall 2019 Kia Sorento Marketing

Well, it seems like Fiat Chrysler Automobiles aren’t the only automotive group making ads for this summer’s advertising campaign. FCA may have just kicked off its 2018 Edition with Apple Music, but Kia Motors is also joining the fray with their newly refreshed 2019 Kia Sorento SUV. Couldn’t pick a better vehicle, really.

What’s Good About the 2019 Kia Sorento?

We think the refreshed 2019 Kia Sorento is the perfect choice to get some air time for Kia Motors for a number of reasons. For one, it’s a perfect chance to show off the SUVs safety features, having received a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). A vehicle only receives this award if it passes all five crash tests with a “good” rating, the highest rating the IIHS uses for their crashworthiness and crash avoidance/mitigation tests. The Kia Sorento was also ranked highest for the Midsize SUV segment during the 2018 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, just saying.

Kia Sorento Marketing Campaign

To make a point of showing off the versatility, advanced technology, and comfort of Kia Motors best-selling and most capable SUV, the automaker has produced a series of videos for various multimedia channels in both English and Spanish. These videos will be placing a focus on the available all-wheel drive system, standard three-row seven-passenger seating, and the more upscale cabin with new technology. One of these we’ve actually already seen, when the Kia Sorento tackled Hell’s Gate in Moab, Utah.

“This campaign mirrors Kia’s mindset as a challenger brand, as Kia and the Sorento have overcome roadblocks, both real and perceived. From off-roading up a mountain to commuting back and forth to work, or a weekend full of running errands, these are the hurdles that drivers conquer every day…As a brand, Kia has conquered our own mountains, especially over the past four years by ranking as the ‘Highest Mass Market Brand in Initial Quality’ in J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study. And the Sorento, assembled in West Point, Georgia, has played a major role in our success by being named the top Midsize SUV in initial quality the last two years.” – said Saad Chehab, vice president, marketing communications, Kia Motors America.

The other two advertising spots can be viewed below:

Conquer Your Mountain

This video shows off the all-wheel drive capabilities of the 2019 Kia Sorento while driving through rocky terrain. A voice over talks about mountains and highlights the versatility of the SUV.

Ready to Be Conquered

Nearly the same video with additional footage, the narrator in this spot highlights the passenger space and technology of the 2019 Kia Sorento SUV.

A little on the tame side, but that’s alright. Kia Sorento owners may never take their own SUVs to Moab, Utah to scale mountains, or even go off-roading, although the new Sorento is fully capable of doing so. It’s just interesting to see the 2019 Kia Sorento go “to Hell and back” literally and figuratively. It has been refreshed after all.
